I'm curious why one guy's opinion suddenly becomes "ESPN not buying Bills." I've seen quite a few pundits on ESPN who praise the Bills but I don't see posts on here stating, "ESPN thinks the Bills are for real" when those guys express their positive opinions.

I really didn't think I had to put a /sarcasm at the end of my post - it felt obvious. I guess not.

What scares the crap out of me is that the 2007 Patriots started 3-0 finished 16-0 and then lost the Super Bowl. I can't take another Super Bowl loss, let's make sure that doesn't happen and hope they don't win this week so the comparisons to that NE team will stop.

Manning yells at his guys all the time - WR, OL, you name it. In fact, I'm not sure I've seen a QB yell at his teammates more than Manning. Brady does as well. Marino did - hell, Kelly did every now and then. As for the whole "Fitz would never do that" stuff - the guy has started barely more than a season's worth of games, let him get totally entrenched in the position and see what he does. New QBs don't go out there yelling at teammates, entrenched starters who have been leaders for awhile do.

I like Romo - though I don't think anybody consideres the guy elite. I like him for many of the same reasons I like Fitz. The guy's a tough SOB who plays his heart out. Sure he'll cost you games with dubious decision making at times but he cares and it shows. If Fitz won a game with a cracked rib and punctured lung people here would be going crazy. Yet because it's the cowpukes we sh#t on a guy who does that?

Who holds the longest active winning streak in the NFL now ?
MDH replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was vs. the Browns, not Bengals. The Bengal game was the 88' AFC championship game where Bruce was running rampant the entire game then got hurt towards the end and it cost us. -
Actually, I'll take division wins over conference wins and conference wins over out of conference wins. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that all of the Bills wins this year are against the AFC. If they get a win this week vs. Cincy they'll have already piled up 4 AFC wins - which could be a big factor come tie-breakers for the playoffs.

And the scoreboard says the Bills D isn't very good. The only thing keeping me from thinking this D is in big trouble the rest of the way is the fact that the Raiders O ran roughshod over the Jets D and NE puts up points against everybody. With the lack of a pass rush I do find myself wishing that Moats could get on the field at OLB - he was the only guy to semi-consistently get pressure last year. -
Don't disagree with you in regards to Lynch's abilities but you don't spend a top 10 pick for a backup RB. Lynch was good enough as a backup.
-
Jackson was the best player on the Bills team two years ago - the season BEFORE they drafted Spiller. Jackson has always been this good, this isn't something new. I don't dislike Spiller but I'll never understand the Bills's brass believing they needed to draft another RB that early when they had Fred Jackson (and Marshawn Lynch for that matter) on the roster already.

Not nearly enough praise for this group
MDH replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only a single sack but there has been virtually no pressure on Fitz either. Add to it huge running lanes and haven't seen a Bills OLine put together 3 games in a row like this in forever. -
It's like asking if Walsh was really that good or was it just Montana or Lombardi was that good or was it just Bart Starr? To win consistently a coach needs a high level of play from his QB but that alone won't do it. It's kind of funny, but depending on who you listen to on this board Brady sucks and is average, Bilichick is lucky and not that great - yet somehow that team has won for a decade straight. I guess I come from the camp of giving your adversaries all the credit in the world, that way when you beat them you've beaten a quality team. If all you do is rip them for being lucky how big can a win against them be?

It's pretty accurate for any QB in the league. Watch any game and both QBs will have a throw or two that has a legit chance of being picked. Those few errant passes don't concern me, it's the other 95% of the passes that I've been really impressed with Fitz thus far. His accuracy is much, much better than last year and as much as I've heard NFL pundits play up the "gunslinger" angle on Fitz this week his game against the Raiders was very Brady-esque. Short passes near the chains or with his WRs running free in the middle of the field, just taking whatever the D would give him. I'm impressed, even if he does throw a few ducks a game.

Brady is classless; Jerk; etc. etc
MDH replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only a delusional fan could think that Brady is thinking of Bills fans when he's laying a beat down on our team. Yeah, he's in the huddle going, "hey, let's really rub it in the Bills fans faces...Randy, go deep!" You call it "ripping" I call it whining. And of course you can do it, I'll never stop a group of whiners from getting their whine on. I also like how he's a dick for doing his job but you're a classy guy for calling him a dick. -
I don't even understand why there's a debate. Evans was a good player during his Bills career. Was he a top tier #1WR? No. Did the team improve itself immediately by removing a good player from it's roster? No. Pretty sure everybody who isn't totally blind by trying to prove themselves right would admit that the Bills could certainly use another quality WR right about now. Did they improve themselves long term by removing him? Unknown - let's see who they draft with the 4 next year and how his career pans out. Pretty simple really.
-
I always thought he could be a very good change of pace back who's good for 10 or so touches a game. Unfortunately that type of player shouldn't be drafted in the top 10. I'm not sure I've ever seen anybody say he couldn't play in this league, just that he shouldn't have been drafted in the top 10.

Classy? Who said anything about classy (football isn't classy.) If we're talking about class, yeah, running up the score isn't "classy." But I'm not, I'm talking about in incessant whining when things don't go people's way. Suck it up, play better and stop the pathetic victim attitude of, "it's no fair mom, they're running up the score on poor whittle us!" If this was a youth league, or even high school, I might agree with you - but it's the NFL. They're grown men, they can take it. When the Pats run up the score I'm upset at the Bills, not the Pats. The Pats are doing what they're supposed to do - it's the Bills who aren't. As I tell my 7 year old all the time, stop worrying about what the other person is doing (and complaining about it) and worry about yourself. Add to it there is a by-product of a team keeping their starters in - your team will get better playing against their best. It might make your ego feel better to beat up on their 2nd and 3rd team for a quarter but it won't make your team better. Playing against Brady and co. - even while they're kicking the crap out of you - will. I hate Brady too - but I don't need to manufacture reasons for it. He has killed the Bills for years and I'm sick of it. Period. -

This isn't little league where all the mom's have to protect their darlings from getting their feelings hurt. If teams don't like the score being run up on them there is a simple solution - play better. -
If the Bills lose to the Patriots....I will NOT be
MDH replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I won't be disappointed if the lose - I'll be disappointed if they get totally outclassed and look like they don't even belong on the same field as the Pats. Play hard, don't make a ton of idiotic mistakes and keep the game competitive - that's all I ask. -
This. Wilson was mostly at fault on that, he can't let the WR get behind him. McKevlin was all over the WR. If Wilson is in proper position that TD never happens. That being said, it was still a spectacular play by Moore.

Pay Fred Jackson Mr Overdoff PLEASE ?
MDH replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course it's out of disrespect to Jackson. It was out of disrespect to Jackson that they drafted Spiller at 9. That being said the last thing I'm worried about after week 2 of the season is Jackson's contract. Fitz's contract maybe, but not Jackson's. -
It's not all on the DBs, Cambell had all day to throw. The Bills need to create more pressure on the QB - either by scheme or individual effort. The D as a whole was terrible today.

Official BILLS vs RAIDERS GAMEDAY THREAD
MDH replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as I agreed with you at the time the Bills kicked their first FG, in hindsight it's hard to question it. The difference in the game were those 3 points. -
The Bills are one of the 3 worst franchises in the NFL over the past decade. I'm willing to give Wilson all the credit in the world for that. If you think the fan base is supposed to be happy that once - 20 years ago - the team went through a winning period you've drunk too much kool-aid.

The guy averages 4.4 ypc behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league. He's a tough runner who rarely goes down on first contact, he's got good hands and he's very good at blitz pickup. He's not a superstar but he's above average. If he didn't consistently have to share the load with 1st round backs whose coaches felt that they should get touches do to where they were drafted Jackson could put up numbers that would get him noticed. The bottom line is that the Bills should have never even drafted Spiller. It was a horrible pick at the time and it remains a horrible pick. Add this situation to the Levitre one to the Evans one and it seems like things are spiraling a bit out of control and the season isn't even upon us.
