  1. I apologize if this is a "captain obvious" situation....but i never realized that the Bills used Kyle Williams as an offensive lineman in goal line situations. Did anyone else notice that (or do i need to check myself in somewhere)? Have they always done that? Just curious......
  2. Poor little guy! You must be on the wrong website...we only bash our team here (sarcasm!!!) Don't get me wrong, I just called out Fitz on another post, But I am glad there are still some "fans" around here. Mario is a beast and always has been, so is Kyle, Marcell, and even Kelsay yesturday. I am convinced Dave Wannasomething, for whatever reason, has been instructing the front line not to do what they do best (get at the qb), but to rather "hold the line" and sack the qb if he is close enough. I think yesturday they were told to get kolb period. this over-penetration at times is what opened the lanes for kolb to run free, but overall was what led to more sacks. Nice Post!
  3. I agree with the OP regarding Kelsay...guy plays well and takes alot of $h-- from fans. Aside from not keeping contain on a few plays he did really well. As far as Fitz goes- I wanted to be a big fan of his. I love that he runs downfield and throws blocks, his work ethic, toughness, smarts, blue collar attitude, etc...but to the poster that said something along the lines of "expecting him to throw 4 TD's a game...", I really don't think thats the case, at least not from my perspective. My problem with Fitz is him throwing the ball behind receivers and into the ground (ill give him a pass for having several balls batted down at the LOS). We complain about our receivers, but i argue that Stevie was open all game. had Fitz hit him in stride on half of the throws, he would have thrown for 4 TD's, but more often than not Fitz underthrew, threw behind, or completely missed on many of his passes.
  4. It follows the "your backup qb is always the most popular guy on a bad team" theory... unless your backup qb gets a football bounced off his helmet while warming up and is named "thigpen"...in that case utilize smelling salts and reinsert broken qb!
  5. This is all I can think of in regard to this post: - Fitz is playing terrible and all the fans are calling for his head. - If Tavaris Jackson was the 2nd string quarterback fans would be calling for Fitz to be pulled, and to put TJ in. - Chan & Nix know that us fans will not be chanting for "Thigpen" at the next home game and shaking Fitz's confidence anymore than it already is. (If Tavaris was the backup we would have been calling his name at the New England game.) - Well played Chan! now work on your gameplan!
  6. First things First...That was a hell of a game! With the exception of Fitz, I think the whole team showed up to play on Sunday. I posted about this last season that it often seemed that the Bills as a team never really all "show up" on Sunday. For example the offense "shows up" and puts 35 points up, but the defense sucks and allows 37 points, or the opposite...you get the idea right? Yesturday they showed up! I'll even give credit to Fitz for using his legs, when his arm wasn't working early on. Spiller- WOW! Has a chance to take it to the house every time. He is the Bills version of a Deep Threat Receiver (picking up yards in huge chunks). Fitz- I was starting to think he had a personal vendetta against Chandler in the first quarter, the way he seemed to overlook/underthrow him. If Fitz could hit receivers in stride this offense would be extremely dangerous, and Fitz would probably appear to be an elite qb! Think of the one pass he actually hit Stevie in stride (paydirt!) and imagine if he did that all game. The offense still scored 28 (not counting the punt return) points despite what we view as some lousy qb play (Fitz through two TD's as well). - And again, I personally view this as bad day for Fitz (Not nearly as bad as against the Jets- I think thats as bad as Fitz gets...but still pretty bad) DB's- It would appear many TBD voices were heard after that embarrassment against the Jets (GFYS Jets, Jets, Jets!) anyway I noticed that the corners were pressing, bumping and overall playing more aggressively against KC receivers at the line of scrimmage, versus the10yrds back they were playing against the jets. As a result, no more quick passes (to be continued below...) Defensive Line- No more quick passes forced Cassel to wait for plays to develop. Those extra few seconds is why the Bills recorded 5 sacks and dominated the line of scrimmage. PS- Anyone who thinks that Mario Williams is not a major factor for this defense is an idiot, and doesn't understand football, or more particularly "Team Football". I won't go into detail here, because several other posters have argued this point extremely well. I particularly agree with the poster who referenced stats coorelating with Darrel Revis, and his # of interceptions. I won't defend this team when they suck (at least not with other Bills fans), but for people to be calling out MW after this week is sickening. Some of the posts I read here make me a little suspect as to what team people actually like round here. Football is game of action and reaction... With KW and MD dominating the LOS and making plays, teams may choose to gameplan around them. If/when that happens look for MW and MA to bring the noise. I think we got a glimpse of the focus turning to Marcel and Kyle when Sheppard came untouched through the line and forced cassel to basically take a knee to avoid having his head taken off. When it comes to our Defensive Front teams will have to pick their poison, and none of their choices are going to taste good.
  7. I know i'm not supposed to feed the trolls around here.....but if Fitz is so bad, then why have you just come out of hiding to declare this during week 10 of the season????? The team sucked today, and I am pissed off too. Fitz looked like sh*t today, and last week for that matter, but is also a big reason why we have 5 wins this season, + 16 TDS. Every team has film on us, and we have not changed a thing. It worked for the first 7 games, but teams have caught on and we need to change it up.
  8. If your safety is playing 15 yards back and making the tackles, then you are right. However in today's NFL safeties not only defend against deep passing, but are used in blitz packages and run support. Our DL took on their blockers, creating holes for the safety to penetrate and stop the run- George Wilson, and Byrd on their big stops in the backfield. I wouldn't say our run D sucks at all. We have faced some of the best rushing and passing attacks in the NFL, and won, courtesy of this D, and it's turnovers. (1 game=maybe a fluke, 2 games=hmmm?, 3 games= maybe these turnovers are not luck???)16 turnovers in 5 games! (that is more than a 3 turnover/game avg) KC-Charles Raiders-McFadden NE- 4 ints Bengals- lost Eagles- Vick 4 turnovers (i personally consider Vick and McCoy to be a powerful rushing tandem)
  9. Another thing I noticed after watching the game, was how much pressure our "D" was actually putting on vick for most of the game. A long as our defense keeps the opposition in high-scoring, thrilling games, there'll be plenty more! ~agree, but i think it's the zebras making these "thrilling" games. Take back the TD from De'Sean Jackson, throw flags for holding, and this game would have never been sooo close. But I agree, and think that is why we continue to have this discussion, NFL+close games=$$
  10. I know we're supposed to be thru complaining about the officiating, but after watching the game on NFL rewind, with the DVR slow motion button I counted 4 illegal blocks to back on the De'Sean Jackson screen play TD. I know thats kind of pathetic that i would spend the time to do that, but i was initially thinking it was just two illegal blocks to the back and wanted to see who the Bills players were that were blocked. When doing that I noticed 2 more blocks to the back. # 85 to Scott # 87 to Florence #63 on #98 Bills (Heard??) #78 straight out tackles Byrd All were in position to make the tackle. I know it's in the past, and we won the game, but between this, the lack of holding calls, pass interference calls, etc is putting this team in closer game situations than the game would be if the refs were doing their job and making calls. I know some calls go for us at times, but overall they are very unbalanced against us. Thoughts? Anyone rewatch it?
  11. Anyone else notice that our defenders (byrd? and someone else?-Wilson? ) mysteriously fell over (almost as if they were tackled or pushed from behind)when De'sean Jackson scored that TD on a screen pass. High scoring games are cool, but don't cheat refs!!!!!!!!! Why arent the coaches more vocal with the refs.
  12. Yes because they kicked the ball before the ref blew the whistle signaling that the ball was in play.
  13. Thanks TBD-ers for the feedback: glad to know i'm not losing my mind...and i also never thought of it as the league trying to increase scoring. hmmmm.... i guess that explains why ive been seeing qbs putting up #'s like 420 yds passing in a game. (last year 300yds passing a game was a landmark!) Arena football is high-scoring....and we know how successful that is. hope they don't F--- this up. "if it's not broke, don't fix it" I'm biased for sure, but i haven't noticed our o-line holding on the regular...are they????
  14. I'm not trying to start another thread about how bad the refs suck, but the refs suck bad-haha just kidding. My real question/comment is... ~ ive noticed during the past few games alot of "no calls" on holding. Eventually when the refs start calling it, our defenders are much closer to sacking the qb. Also I noticed two illegal blocks/tackles from behind on that Desean Jackson screen pass td. Is it normal to be "held" as frequently as i am seeing? are we getting "hosed" on calls from the refs? or is it a mutual "non call" on both sides?
