I look at the names on Romo's tier and think Newton doesn't deserve to be on that tier either. I'm not even sure I'd put him on the next tier just yet (I'd take Ryan and Stafford before Newton right now.) Newton's not that accurate and is late with a lot of his throws. The guy has shown flashes of being fantastic, but flashes don't cut it.

Nobody said he wasn't "implicated", he most definitely was. Implicated and "literally got away with murder" aren't the same thing. He was there the night it happened - that implicates him to some degree. Hell, me might be guilty of it. See how I said "might." There's a difference between being implicated and saying he literally got away with murder. I don't know enough about all the facts to even have a valid opinion and I doubt most others do either. Reading a news article about the incident doesn't make someone knowledgable enough about it. People don't like Ray so they assume he's guilty of it - hell, I don't like Ray, I dislike his antics and on field demeanor quite a bit (so much for drinking the kool-aid...) But disliking the guy and just assuming he's guilty of something shouldn't go hand and hand. Of course you have to be careful the way you phrase things - it's called communication. Nobody is going to have a clue what you're really trying to say if you don't communicate effectively. That's in all aspects of life, not just on message boards. But hey, this is a pointless debate. You think some people are too nit-picky about how you try and get your point across and I think you need to do a better job if you don't want there to be a misunderstanding. Normally I wouldn't even get involved in a debate like this, I would have read your comment, thought it was ludicrous and moved on. Someone else pointed this out and I thought to myself, "yep." Then people started piling on MarkinSanDiego for "defending Ray Ray" (which he wasn't doing) and I thought I'd let you know he wasn't the only one who thought you could express yourself more clearly. That's pretty much it. If you don't think so, that's cool, no skin off my back.

Had you "inferred that Ray COULD have been implicated in a murder" I doubt you would have been criticized.

My concern going into this weekend is with Byrd hurt they abandon press coverage once again and play it safe because an injured Byrd or (even worse) Howell can't be trusted to get over and prevent the big play. Ankle injuries take a lot of speed away so even if Byrd suits up I have a feeling we might not see the aggressive coverage most of us like to see.

Lloyd > Jones by a lot. He'd have improved the WR corps but at the expense of the defensive signings. I'm not saying I rather they'd have signed him than improving the D line - I wouldn't, I much prefer the DL signings. I'm saying that people like to discount how good opposing players are to make the Bills look better. Lloyd is so much better than any Bills WR other than Johnson it's not even funny. Having a legit #2 would help the passing offense in that Ds wouldn't have to simply worry about Stevie - which is pretty much how it is now. The biggest weakness on this Bills team right now is at WR, saying Lloyd isn't better than what we have now is just plain wrong.
-
Lloyd is on pace for over 1k yards and over 100 catches. This despite the Pats O getting off to a slowish start this year and sharing the field with the best slot WR in the league and the best TE. Your idea of "not producing" and mine differer greatly. Lloyd would instantly have been the Bills 2nd best WR - perhaps it's best and they'd have two legit threats on the field at WR. That being said he's on the wrong side of 30 and a short term solution. Of course, the Bills went out and spent in FA by brining in the two best pass rushers available - I'm not upset they couldn't target every single weakness in a single offseason. I do, however, look forward to them upgrading the WR position this offseason.

The way people talk you'd think they don't want Jackson seeing the field anymore because Spiller has had a few good games. I think people are forgetting how good Fred Jackson is. Jackson was in the MVP talk up unti his injury last year having six 100 yard games in his 9 complete games (for over 900 yards rushing and around 400 yards receiving.) The guy is an elite back. Not to mention Spiller just isn't a workhorse - even with Jackson out last year he frequently had 12-13 carries per game - there are plenty of carries left for Jackson once he comes back even if Spiller is technically "the starter." Spiller has no shot at MVP because he simply won't accumulate enough carries and he's not going to average 10 ypc through the season. Instead of hoping that "spiller is the starter when he comes back" I hope that Chan can figure out a way to get both these guys carries and involved in the offense because we need them both and they are both very good backs. With how effective they both are lined up wide they should be able to get them both on the field at the same time and create mismatches.

It seems people can only concentrate on the negative. Yes, Fitz had a handful of horrible throws today. Just atrocious head scratching throws. But you know what? No QB is perfect, every QB had a handful of bad throws in a game (granted they miss a little closer than Fitz did today.) The thing is when a QB isn't that accurate he needs to make up for it with big plays and keep the TOs to a minimum. Fitz did that today but isn't getting credit for it. He had a beautiful pass to Chandler for 30+ yards, a big play to Stevie for 40+ yards and a TD in addition to some nice runs that kept drives going. He was so effective at hitting big gains that his average per pass attempt today was 9.36 (the most important stat for QBs other than turnovers.) 9.36 is a big number and given that his completion percentage was only 52% today that means the passes he did complete were for large chunks of yardage. So yeah, some of those passes looked horrible but overall he had a very solid game today.

Mr $100 million was much better today

So you're going to judge his season by 10 plays? That's an interesting approach... I'd prefer a guy who constantly demands double teams, gets a handful a pressures every game and plays the run very well to a guy who sucks for much of the game yet gets a sack here and there that end up adding up to 10+ sacks on the season. But hey, to each his own, if you want to judge a season based on 10 sacks that's your prerogative. -
Not making excuses for Mario but....

So Mario has to be as good as, perhaps, the best DE to ever play the game to be an ELITE DE? Newsflash, he's not Bruce Smith. That being said I'm guessing there's never been a 2 game stretch where Smith went sackless.... And finally, however is judging DE play strictly by sacks is missing much of what's going on. -
He hasn't been on the hot seat because nobody has any expectations about this franchise. This year was different. If they don't produce this year I don't see them bringing him back and the Bills get to blow it all up and start again. Then we can get a million apologists posting things like, "hey, give these new guys 3 years, they haven't had a chance to implement their systems." As much as I haven't been terribly impressed with Gaily I also don't want to have another 3 year plan put into place starting next year. I'm tired of the 3 year plan-rinse-repeat cycle the Bills have been on for 12 years.

Was Mario being a crybaby, you be the judge

Considering I read an article today that stated that there were more pass interference calls in week 1 this year than in the first two weeks combined last year I'd say year, Rogers is whining because they struggled last week. -
This team doesn't even need to run more than they pass - they just need more balance. The weakest part of the O are the WRs and the QB yet somehow Gaily wants to put the ball up 36 times a game (last years att avg.) Sure, sometimes the team falls behind which pushes those numbers up but the disturbing trend is that the Bills consistently come out firing the ball around the field. There's no need for 2 TEs a FB and a RB - the spread formation is fine - just run the ball out of it more often.

Mario should have unleashed some head slaps in return. If they're not going to call it do it until they do... -
You go low at Freddie because if you go high he shrugs you off and keeps running. Going high on strong RBs is a mistake. Hell, even Spiller broke a high tackle yesterday on his TD scamper. Nobody is trying to intentionally hurt guys out there, they're trying to make plays for their team. People get all up in arms over nothing.

I'd stick the overall D performance in there with Fitz as an "ugly." While I'm not happy with Fitz's performance QBs will have games where they toss 3-4 INTs. It happens - let's hope it doesn't happen again this season though. The D, on the other hand, made a horrible Jets offense look like the Packers or Saints. This after an offseason of spending and drafting to shore it up. I wasn't expecting them to be in mid season form but their effort yesterday was disturbing. They are miles away from being a solid D.

[closed]Fitzpatrick on the interceptions WGR55
MDH replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll give him this: he's always been a stand up guy. Unlike someone like Flutie who never took responsibility for his poor play, Fitz takes it like a man whether it's actually his fault or not. He never gives excuses or blames others. Of course, I'd prefer it if he didn't make so many mistakes that he had to step up and take responsibility for. -
I want to see CJ on the bench. Freddie is hurt already, no need to have CJ risk injury in this craptacular game.
-
This is the only silver lining. Losing by 4 TDs still only counts as a single loss.
-
Not to rain on the Spiller parade but it's usually pretty easy to find running room when your team is down big.
-
I think you're being just as delusional as the guys who think the season is totally done after a bad half. I'm just hoping nobody gets hurt the rest of the way
-
And to rub more salt on my wounds today - I failed to start RG3 in fantasy instead going with Schaub.
-
I think somebody has let their anger and/or alcohol consumption get the better of them. It might be a slight overreaction to a bad half of football.
-
The worst part is the Byrd was 8 yards off Holmes and he STILL got turned around when Holmes put a little move on him. You'd have thought he was in press coverage the way he reacted.

I live 30 minutes from the stadium, so glad I didn't pony up the money to take the family.
