What would the Bills record be with this schedule?
MDH replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have had a lot of toss ups so far and they generally end up on the losing side of them. My guess is they'd be 3-3 with that schedule as they'd lose at Philly, at Tenn and to Dallas at home. Hell, I could see them losing to Oak at home as well. -
Scientists find sure-fire cure for a hangover...
MDH replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in Off the Wall Archives
How young are you? I used to never get hangovers, no matter how trashed I got. Then somewhere around 35-36 I started getting them when I drank hard liquor. Now I get them when I drink in excess no matter what it is. -
True, but Moorman had a better game yesterday than Powell had all year long. Plenty of hang time, directed towards the sideline and deep. Let's hope he can consistently do it.

This Marrone fella, he's gonna be a good one
MDH replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't get the Hackett bashing all year long. He's playing a conservative game to try and ease the young QB(s) into the NFL game and is putting up around 22 points per game in doing so. Pettine, however, gets a pass despite the fact that the defense ranks worse in the NFL both points and yards allowed. I swear people would rather lose aggressively than do well conservatively. And yeah, the D has had injuries but so has the O. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particlar order.....
MDH replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find it interesting that you single out Gilmore. This D has so many issues and guys not pulling their weight yet you single out the guy who has a club on his arm and hasn't played a down of football in 2 months? A guy who, despite what you want to believe, played very well in the 2nd half of last year- particularly for a rookie. You might not like 1st round CBs but you can't be serious with jumping on him under these circumstances. You could jump on anybody else and it would make more sense. It makes it pretty obvious that you watch these things with your own agenda in mind. -
This is a load of crap. The D didn't do their job. Their job isn't to simply keep points off the board, it's to get the team in a position to win the game. Letting them drive past mid-field and pin the O at the 6 yard line as FAR from doing their job. That is unacceptable in overtime. The fact that there are fans out there who consider that "holding" is amazing.

You are one of the few people on the planet who would do a worse job of running the Bills than the men who have been in charge of this team for the past 15 years. I believe this post likely gets you on Ralph's speed-dial and an interview next time there's a front office vacancy.

That was a fantastic kick, high and far. As you said, 2 guys were there in perfect position to make the play and they missed it and everybody else was apparently out of position.

Things are getting better, now we need wins to show for it
MDH replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We've been hearing for 13 years after every close, heart breaking loss, "relax, they played well today and are making progress." -
The D, O and ST all sucked in OT. Not sure how you can just single out the O. The D allowed the Bengals to march downfield and effectively flip the field and pin the O deep. O goes three and out and the ST does their part by allowing another long return. Just pathetic. However, for the game I was much more pleased with the O's performance than the D. The D was supposed to "pick up the O" with their starting QB and #1WR out of the game. Instead the D laid a giant egg...once again.

Gilmore is active today as is Byrd. I'm sure they'll have rust but hopefully this is the beginning of the D putting it all together.
-
Stevie inactive today. Ugh, like the O needed any more obstacle to get in their way. Without turnovers I don't see how the Bills can score more than 14 today.

How is posing nude against a "standard of common decency?" What exactly is wrong with the human body? People who don't flush the toilet after they use it have more of a right to be fired by this policy than a woman who poses nude.

Andrew Luck wasn't great through 5 games last season either. Indy was 2-3 while Luck had 7TDs and 7 INTs with a completion percentage of 53.4%. The difference is that the Colts let Luck go out there and chuck it. Unlike the other rookie QBs who got scaled back versions of their offense, Luck got the entire thing and they let him struggle and make mistakes. They weren't afraid of losing games and it helped develop his game quicker. As others have pointed out in other threads R. Wilson's numbers are very similar to EJ too and that's a better comparison because he got a scaled back version of their offense as well.

Are people really arguing that SJ can't stay healthy? If he misses the game today it'll be the first game he's missed since 2009. He missed games back then because he wasn't a starter, not because he was injured. Granted, he's nicked up lots but it has never prevented him from playing. People should be in love with the type of player who gets smashed - like all NFL players do - and never takes a game off. The guy has a big mouth but he has a big heart too. B word about his on field antics if you want but whining about him getting hurt is hilariously idiotic.

ESPN's Mike Rodak: Fred Jackson having a career season..
MDH replied to Kemp2Warlick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only time he's not at the top is when he's hurt. Every year he's been healthy he's been the best back on the Bills no matter how many 1st round RBs the organization tries to draft to fill the job. -
Why are you trolling this thread? Some people think its funny, some don't. If you don't why try to ruin others' fun?

Goodell open to more playoffs, less preseason
MDH replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the NFL extended the playoffs to 30 teams with only 1 team from each conference not making them the Bills would be that last team. Not only that but the team from the NFC would have a worse record than the Bills and would thus get the 1st pick in the draft and take whatever Luck-esque franchise QB who happened to come out that year. -
You took the time to not only open it but respond to it. As my mamma used to say, "you've got nobody to blame but yourself."

The real problem (if you want to call it that) is if Thad doesn't play better than EJ but the team starts winning because the D is finally full strength. Then what do the Bills do? Put EJ back in or keep playing Lewis because the team has been winning with him at the helm? It would be Flutie/Johnson 2.0
-
Just because Flynn failed to secure a starting QB gig doesn't mean any scrub off the street is better. I don't want Flynn as my starter but I'd take him over either of the backup QBs currently on the Bills' roster.

Did the Bills make a gaffe choosing Manuel over Smith?
MDH replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Five games. That's all that's been played. Vince Young was rookie of the year and made two Pro Bowls. How'd his career turn out? Sam Bradford was rookie of the year yet has never really improved in the years since. Yet we want to make a determination about who was the better draft pick after 5 games? Geno could very well end up being the better QB but who the hell knows after 5 f'in games? -
Thaddeus Lewis starting against Bengals
MDH replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think that's the concern. If Lewis looks better than EJ and the team is winning you obviously keep him in there. The more difficult question is what if Lewis doesn't look better than EJ but with the now healthy D the team is winning because they're playing lights out. Do we get the, "all he does is win games!" from fans and media? -
Yet halfway through training camp this year he wasn't on a roster.
-
True. But it doesn't have to be this much of a mess. Serious question: How many NFL teams could Tuel or Lewis have actually made this year? I'm not sure either could have been anything better than PS players who would ever see playing time without 2 QBs going down on any team other than the Bills.
