  1. Goodwin is in the game.
  2. If he ever refers to a "presser' he should be fired. I was fine with his press conference overall.
  3. A few points: The 300-pound, 25-year old player (Tyrunn Walker) that crashed into him later broke his own leg. He's out for the season at age 25. "Fred isn't going to come back as fast at this age": Hard to debate, this is pretty much the way it is. Anyone who thinks differently, is probably not yet 30 themselves. Slow recovery from injury is probably a bigger problem than extra chance of injury at age 34. Fred got injured on a play that would probably have injured a much younger player as well, in my opinion. "Fred has a high ankle sprain": I haven't seen anything that definitely states this. If he does get the "dreaded" high ankle sprain (I'm not sure how someone said "high ankle sprain" without the word "dreaded") then they might send him to IR, unfortunately. Link? "Fred is injured now, so he wouldn't have helped us if he were on the Bills": No way to know how a hypothetical scenario would play out.
  4. Latest word is that X-Rays were negative. He will have an MRI, per Ian Rapoport. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000550950/article/russell-wilson-seahawks-hold-on-against-winless-lions
  5. How can you leave out Colton Schmidt?
  6. The 7th is also 2 seasons from now.
  7. I too hated the train noise last time I was at the game, and if a fine and 5th round pick is what it takes to get rid of it I'm not sure I'd be upset. However, if the league hasn't given "notice" of the fact that a train sound triggered too late can cost a team money and draft picks, then it could be challenged in court. Just make sure that the same judge hears the case. Also I look forward to the courtroom sketch of Rex Ryan.
  8. These kinds of lingering injuries happen with increasing frequency when RBs get old and have a lot of mileage. I think we heard that about 5,000 times this summer so why is anyone surprised?
  9. Not the playbook, the actual game plan for the Patriots themselves. As I understand it the game plan consists of a subset of the playbook customized to that opponent.
  10. You might be on to something actually. Give him the wrong game plan and then cut him.
  11. D coaches going to use clock, not pressure, to win.
  12. What's the fine for doing nothing wrong and then getting called?
  13. Did the Colts decline that because accepting a fake call is poor sportsmanship?
  14. With a halftime score of 17-0 I would say we got what we needed in the first half.
  15. Maybe they were going to cut him in anticipation of getting Bilal Powell.
  16. It's a very odd scenario, a semi-public suicide at a festive event. Very sad to be sure, but also unusual given that most suicides take place alone.
  17. Harvin is not injury prone? He has barely practiced!
  18. I agree, but that does not mean it has no humor value.
  19. Although he was off by 3 for the Bills (not good), he really did poorly with the Texans who he predicted at 2-14 and the Cowboys at 5-11. Overall he did not predict well and completely blew the NFC East and NFC South predictions.
  20. Apparently Novak did not have a touchback after week 8 and was last in touchbacks in 2013. Seems like Gay would need to stay. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000523173/article/chargers-cut-nick-novak-josh-lambo-wins-kicking-job
  21. And if you haven't received "Notice" that you could be suspended, punishment can't be imposed.
  22. That would be the minimum for his years of experience. Seattle gets to take a reduced cap hit at that figure. Also the contract could include up to $65k in bonuses or incentives, the source may not know if this is the case. Anything above that would eliminate the "reduced cap hit" and be unlikely. If Fred wanted to get more than the vet minimum he would have had to get interest from multiple teams. That may not have been the case, or his preference for Seattle was strong enough that it was not worth scraping for $100k. As noted elsewhere if be is on the roster by week 1 his salary is guaranteed so that may have been the biggest incentive of all to sign the minimum deal as soon as it was offered.
  23. He is probably not expensive on their terms.
  24. I think this is a huge part of it. The Bills are the only team carrying 2 kickers. The idea being that they have a 90% FG kicker and a guy who achieves (very high percentage) touchbacks. Most teams get by with an 85-87% kicker who can also get a reasonable number of touchbacks. In order for the Bills' approach to work, the 2 players BOTH have to be above average; otherwise you are better off with an average kicker plus another player.
