  1. Based on this it looks like he is eligible for one of the 2 spots for "players with no more than two accrued seasons". It seems like you can qualify under 3 scenarios: No accrued seasons, 1 accrued season but on the active roster less than 9 games, or no more than 2 accrued seasons (max of 2 of these). Also, you can keep an international player who lives outside the U.S.
  2. Rex's issue is that Carpenter doesn't do kickoffs. You can tell because he throws that in with every complaint. So if you are keeping 2 kickers they'd better both do their assigned job very very well. Jordan Gay has done his part, Carpenter hasn't. If they bring someone in it would be a 1 for 2 deal to free up a roster spot. There would be no point bringing in a mediocre kicker who did not kick off. Jordan Gay must be really bad at FGs for him to not even be an option.
  3. Given Ryan's quotes tonight where they are going to look at any guy who has ever kicked a football in his life, that is not a good sign.
  4. The local Fox and ABC affiliates made this their cover story on their webpages. Meanwhile NBC is silent (Russini worked their until recently). Classic.
  5. If we are keeping young guys with potential over older veterans then EJ has to be the keeper. A couple of his passes in the last game were really nice. His record has not been that dismal and I think he can be a solid #2.
  6. And if there are rumors in March of a player being cut, stay away!
  7. The extensive coverage 6 months ago might have been a tipoff that they were at risk.
  8. I'm with those who don't see how a GM can "go rogue" in cutting a player. He made the decision... that's his job. I don't like the decision, but I think he should be able to make it (without the owners weighing in).
  9. Because they hadn't reached their season ticket goal yet.
  10. I believe this was Rex's call although Whaley was probably in full support.
  11. No, but I do think that statistically it might not have helped the enthusiasm which got them to record 60,000 season tickets if they cut him during the "hot season" for ticket sales.
  12. Too bad he busted a nut. Hope it doesn't trouble him all season.
  13. So I get why they released him, but I can't see why they kept him around in the offseason when they were thinking about releasing him. Oh wait... Any chance they wanted to wait to drop him until AFTER they hit the season ticket record???
  14. I don't think more training is going to help. His body is probably in great shape. I think that some players have more balance, vision, prioperception, reactions/reflexes, or something which keeps them "lucky" despite many hits. Basically they get hit "squarely" less often and therefore are injured less. Goodwin just seems "unlucky" and in ways that are not explained by toughness alone. I think he just doesn't "slip" hits well enough... So he probably will not make it as a consistent NFL player. Too bad because he made some nice catches.
  15. We could also just have a "punt catcher". I nominate Cyrus Kouandijo.
