  1. Says the guy with a Peterman avatar. I'm still amazed how so many people believe using first round picks on positions of less impact somehow translates to wins when you don't have a QB. You're not rebuilding by avoiding finding the QB and no combination of DT, OG, WR, et. al is going to fix that.
  2. As others have said, this team doesn't need another WR who can't separate. He's not the guy Dallas re-signed a few years ago. But he is a "name" player without the production to match.
  3. Rod Streater has 28 receptions in his last 4 NFL seasons, playing all of 20 games. No GM or HC with half a brain counts on that production.
  4. Walk on down to OBD tonight and be sure to tell Beane and McDermott. Tell them for all of us because you're on TBD and know better.
  5. You're not in the business of hiring people, are you? Either way, keep on conflating everything to fit your opinion.
  6. It's psychological at this point. The "trauma" of having a first round pick not work out has made people have some sort of syndrome over trusting anything until it works out again. That's especially the case when some fans look around and see other teams find their QB or experience real success. The idea it's an apt comparison of 2002, 2006, or 2013 draft is laughable. No one has to love it now, but expecting Allen not to pan out is a purely defensive thought process.
  7. "Note to Self: Zero Oxygen for Trolls!"
  8. Some personnel people are clearly better than others. And there's no way OBD is handling personnel the same way they've done for years.
  9. Gotta love the fans who think they know better than people who do this for a living and have been at it for literally multiple decades. By no means are McBeane proven at their jobs because they've both made mistakes. At least now there seems to be a plan whereas previously it was people making more random decisions. If Allen doesn't pan out they know it's on them. One thing I know is next year they won't trade up for a WR, draft a RB high, or say they were in QB purgatory.
  10. Management is world better from GM to HC than previous incarnations, but judging players after 1 year is premature. 2-3 years is more appropriate and I know that doesn't mesh with the "now" mindset most fans have. Tre White played well last year, as did Dawkins. Now it's time to see if they can carry it over into their 2nd season when expectations are higher.
  11. Sal is perpetually over-caffeinated.
  12. Obviously you stick with McCarron and Peterman, make it a fair competition (because the NFL needs to be fair like Little League) and use your picks to draft straight need. Use your picks on LBs, RBs, interior OL, and of course more CBs. QB's are risky and therefore taking them high should not be an option unless it's an absolute guarantee. /sarcasm
  13. Is there a moratorium on non-panicky fans posting. Seems like everyone is worried and anxious that nothing will work in Buffalo's favors. Trust the process during the season. Doubt McBeane in the off-season.
  14. Last year all I heard here was "trust the process." Now that we're entering perhaps the biggest event in the process, people refuse to trust OBD because they know better? McCarron's contract tells me that several other QB needy teams did not consider him starting material. In a league where QB is the most important position, it should tell a fan something. Perhaps he's a franchise guy, but it doesn't look the way. Still, the chances aren't high. Low information fans want to believe things that have little basis in reality. Say what you will about Schopp, but some of the takes he's talking about are as off the wall as it gets. Then again, many of these fans pushing their bizarre theories want their opinion to be right and can't be bothered with someone trying to inject a healthy dose of practicality. This team has charted a course since last April that said QB was their priority in the 2018 off-season. Team building does not require a front office to be fair, only to win games. McCarron and Peterman may be good guys, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have competition from a high draft pick. McBeane aren't going to pass on QB's in the 1st round. It would get both of them fired within 2-3 years if they did.
  15. In 1985, Dan Marino led the league with 4,137 yards passing and 30 TDs. That year, no NFL QB completed more than 62% of their passes. Yet, in 2017 8 QBs threw for more than 4k yards, 3 completed 30 or more TDs, and 19 starting QB's completed 62% or more of their pass attempts. The game has changed so significantly, especially how rosters have been built, how penalties are called, and much of this relates to the QB position. NFL franchises aren't using a strategy that's 30+ years old to build a team.
  16. This thread is reminiscent of a sketch on SNL 30 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUL7q8eyig8
  17. OP that is one long sentence.
  18. McDermott would body slam Brandon if the latter came into the draft room and started talking strategy.
  19. Players involved in personnel decisions? It makes so much sense, particularly after what's happened in Cleveland with LeBron. That franchise has turned into a soap opera, to the extent the coach was stressed out and needed time off. The drama in sports, heck in everything is wearing people out. I understand Rodgers wants to win, but where does the line get drawn between players and management? It's not as if this is Archie Manning running for his life in New Orleans without much around him. Rodgers comes off as a dude who finds the Yoko Ono's of the dating scene anyway.
  20. An offensive line with a guy name Frank is so blue collar. And we know blue collar and Buffalo go together like roast beef on a kimmelweck roll. BTW, has anyone mentioned how imperative it is to get a QB who can throw in the Buffalo weather? This length of this offseason is only surpassed by the length of winter in WNY.
  21. Who's ready to have some fun?
  22. I have no doubt McBeane aren't banking on people who haven't produced in so long. It's amazing that some advocate going with AJM at QB and eschewing the QB in the draft. There's no way a career-minded HC and GM would risk their future . The things be talked about here get more weird by the day.
  23. Rod Streater? The guy with 28 catches in the last 4 NFL seasons?
