a few thoughts about the cardinals game, in no particular order
cale replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team responds better when something sticks in their collective craw. I wish we won the game. Especially given what Josh & Diggs did at the end. But maybe now McD and Frazier will fix what ails this D. Two weeks of stewing over this loss might give them extra incentive to do that. Instead of sitting pretty after a win and thinking they'll be OK. Right now they should be thinking they're going to be a one playoff win team again. We need to find a way to bring more pressure, as well as, not get killed over the middle. -
Proud of Josh, Diggs, Beasley and Brown

This years Titans game versus last years game
cale replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This whole Titans overcame adversity story is BS. All I am hearing today in Nashville. Oy! -
Man, if we lose John "Smoke" Brown, I'll cry. I'm sure Josh will too.

Fair or not, Allen/White are gonna be judged against what Mahomes/Reid has done/will be doing. The only way to shut the doubters is go get in the big game. If this doesn't put a chip on the entire Bills organization than nothing will. Welcome to the real world. I don't think we're far in terms of ability and talent. I think we have the ingredients. But we need to cook the meal and serve it up. Regardless I am very happy for Reid & Mahomes and the KC fans.

Yesterday proved another thing we need a hammer back
cale replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could not agree more. Even if he carries the ball 15 times a game, that can soften things up. We need a back who can open his own running lanes. Even if intermittently. -
He was awful tonight.

GDT: NE**** at KC 6:40 on CBS

Nothing like the player the Bills thought were dispensable making a big play on D. -
Sean Kugler, Broncos OL coach not yet hired by TB, still looking?
cale replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. But he wouldn't have been coaching those guys. If he's looking for an upward trajectory, he would prefer steak over mincemeat. Interior line needs to be rebuilt. -
McBeane and the hiring of coaching assistants
cale replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most of these things don't occur until the Senior Bowl. Some significant exceptions of course. But that's when a lot of the hiring happens. -

Kyle Williams: Officially Retires

The last of the Night's Watch. Much love and respect to Kyle. Our rolling ball of butcher knives. -
EJ Manuel: What went wrong after year 1?
cale replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just a reminder that Blake Bottles is a QB in this league. I just don't think EJ was ever gonna be an elite QB. If he was drafted in the 3rd or 4th his development might have taken a very different arc. But there was intense pressure to have him get out there and succeed with no one to actually help develop the guy. Josh might get killed before we get him help. -
if the Bills sign Chad before Kap, I'd seriously lose my sh*t. The very essence and exhibit A of white privilege.

A Few Thoughts about the Patriots Game, in no particular order
cale replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are street QBs out there now that can throw well enough in a chuck and duck O that can get us 14 pts. I'll take them over this offensive system and crap WRs. That QB - Holmes, Croom, Jones, Ray Ray and possibly Phillips with Ivory in the backfield. At least those guys care... -
How and Why The Bills Could Win Monday Night
cale replied to Kevin1778's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't expect the Bills to win. That being said if they don't at least put up a fight and play like their hair is on fire *and* if Brady doesn't walk off the field without feeling like he's been in a war, than I'll know these guys have no pride whatsoever. If we had halfway decent talent on offense I'd give us better than a 50-50 chance. But as it is now, they just have to use Ivory as a battering ram. -
If this is even marginally true, he'd be cut. And rightly so. Kim Pegula is in charge.

Props to McBeane, haters! (part deux)
cale replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah McBeane are gonna need a nap now. I like the moves...a lot. But honestly it's what we do with all that draft capital. I mean, it's not like Whaley didn't do some dealing of his own. It's the talent we acquire or don't. And how we develop them or don't. -
The draftniks said the last great arm they saw prior to Allen was Jamarcus Russell. I'm not saying Allen=Russell. I'm just saying to fall in love with a QB just cause of his arm is probably not the best way to go about finding talent. He might end up being the best QB in this draft. But I agree with Hapless. Development is key here. I think the intangibles on Mayfield are pretty good. But even he has some question marks. I wish we were picking top 5-10. There's great value there. If Mayfield or Lamar are there at 21 or 22 it's a no brainer. But you also have to consider a top 5 talent at another position could be there at 21 or 22 as a result of the positioning for the QB talent. What do you do then?
-
I liked his arm at the Combine. It was like being at a circus and watching the lion tamer. Even the other QBs were impressed. But if you're gonna hock the farm and move up 15-18 spots, you better be dang sure he's your franchise guy. Right now the guys who look the part for that are Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield. They all have their faults. But to me Allen just doesn't seem to have "it." He just has a cannon. He's a one trick pony. A pretty cool trick. But one trick nevertheless. Not sold on him at all.

Former Bills QB going to jail
cale replied to Southern Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember him. I don't think he played one snap for the Bills. -
His defense came through when it counted in a big way. All season. That D was on fire. And who is Doug Pedersen? Dude is a baller. Good and aggressive. C

Having one of the best QB/Coach tandems in maybe all of NFL history covers up a multitude of sins. There are teams that draft better...by a lot. But Pats have Brady.

Report: Browns Add Scot McCloughan to the Front Office
cale replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McCloughan is toxic. Brilliant evaluation mind. But drama follows wherever he goes. If they can keep him off the sauce in CLE he'll be a great addition to the FO. But he has bigger problems. https://www.si.com/mmqb/2017/03/16/washington-redskins-nfl-dysfunction-scot-mccloughan-dan-snyder-bruce-allen http://thebiglead.com/2015/09/02/wife-of-washington-gm-scot-mcgloughan-apologizes-for-tweeting-espn-reporter-traded-bj-for-scoop/ http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/12014699/scot-mccloughan-nfl-best-talent-scout-self-employed-living-farm
