Wish you well.

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that JWill's agent started making some noise about money. Given his early showing in pre-season. If that is the case, I get why they waived him. $500K for a PS player is kind of steep. I wasn't happy about the cut. But if it was about money and resource management, I'm OK with it.

is jonathan williams next? - update: now cut
cale replied to ronnieroscoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We didn't like some of his moves either. Hogan and Freddy amongst them. But the last laugh was with them. Cause Hogan won a SB ring and Jackson got a playoff berth/win. One other thing...good teams don't inspire some of their best off season signings to "retire" and focus on social activism ala Bolduin. He's not a dummy. Now that Edelman is down, he wants to sign with Patriots. Funny how all that "changing the world" talk is put on hold when you think you can win. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2731238-anquan-boldin-reportedly-remains-interested-in-joining-patriots-despite-retiring -

None taken. I guess time will tell. The whole "what's best for the team" line is a joke given that Dareus is still on this squad. I'm not advocating cutting him. I'm just saying there's more to this story. -

Problem is Williams is a threat to score on almost every down. Of the backs we have now, besides Shady - who would you game plan for? In this league having 2 backs able to take it to the house is a luxury. But true to our form, we waive (not even trade) luxury. I get the focus on special teams. But fire Crossman and watch this ST improve dramatically. He has done nothing here and did nothing in Detroit. He's a conservative coach. That doesn't fit the make up of his players. -

You know, i don't like the JWill cut. If this was a one off that'd be one thing. But this is within a larger context of questionable roster moves. The Watkins move I can almost justify given his durability issues. But honestly you don't get better by losing talented players and keeping mediocre ones. Fine if you say they're doing this to better the team. But how do you justify Ducasse > Williams > Darby? Systems and "culture" are winning over actual raw or developing talent. This is a historical problem in Buffalo. The players know it. The fans know it. We're not complete idiots. I really liked it when McDermott was the guy (One voice) in charge. I think Beane is overthinking this. I liked the hire. But he is running amok with this roster management BS. God, I miss Wade Phillips... -
Sure. But he still needed someone like Reid to elevate his play.
-
I don't know what Mahomes future will be like. But I like his odds given that Andy Reid is the QB whisperer. Heck, he's made Alex Smith into more than a serviceable QB. Mahomes development in Buffalo would have a very different trajectory. C

Feel Like We Are Going Back To Dark Days

I get where you're coming from. And I agree with some of your assessment. However, i am not a 100% convinced they're just banking on a draft QB. They might go after a proven veteran as well. Think Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins. They've got enough ammo to even go after someone like Cam Newton, though at that point I'd rather they drafted a rookie with a great college track record. I think a lot of things are in play. I am however sorry to see Watkins go. C -
Holy crap Rob Johnson is a weasel

Johnson was a dick? No ****? I liked Flutie but that didn't mean he wasn't a dick too. They're highly paid pro athletes. Go figure. We spin this the way we want. -
Let's hope this isn't Greggo II.
cale replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a lot to ponder in the OP's thoughts. However, there was one fundamental difference. Donahoe was in charge from day one. He had Greggo run the kind of ship TD wanted. GW admitted as much when he ended up in DC. Remember the early AM horn blasting? That was Donahoe's idea. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/02/AR2007010201192_4.html The sense I get with McDermott is that he has been in charge from day one. Now he and Beane have a true partnership. Apparently. C -
I know this has been said before. But these reports have been more "funner" than some in previous years. Love your sense of humor too. Thanks Astro!

Aaron Schobel is a good candidate. But I love Darryl Talley. Sure he was a 2nd round pick, but man, whom else epitomized the Bills in the 80s/90s? And never got the respect? Then I think Kyle Williams. -
Jessie James Decker is an artist signed to Sony/Epic. https://open.spotify.com/artist/0GzIauSfKRc5BlNXpTWAGz C

You don't know diddly squat. The Titans had the inside track the whole time because of both Decker and Jessie's connection to Nashville. She is brilliant. And they are both nice people. I am a Bills fan who lives in Nashville. I agree that it remains to be seen how injuries are gonna affect his career. But no need to take a swipe at a man's family.

Eventhough this article is a little older, I like the analysis and insight. Nice comprehensive list of candidates: http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/front-office/2016/12/09/2017-nfl-general-manager-candidates/

[Slightly OT] Bills Grammys Nominee - Kelsea Ballerini

She was up against Chance. He was the runaway favorite. And rightly so. Still Kelsea has a bright future. -
[Slightly OT] Bills Grammys Nominee - Kelsea Ballerini
cale replied to cale's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
man, the real metzelaars was way more optimistic - you also assume a lot of things. And you know what that makes you? ;-) Kelsea is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Also one of the cheeriest. Not that that's hard to find here in Nash. Her music is pretty cool and was one of the vanguard in the female revival in country music (ie. the tomato debate - look it up). We've done business with her management company who are also good people and a great hang. If you can't root for people deserving of success, then what the hell? But you have yourself a nice day, Scrooge. C -
Some of you might already be aware. But the Pegulas also own a record label, Black River Entertainment here in Nashville. One of their artists - Kelsea Ballerini is a Grammy nominee this year. The CEO of the company is from Fairport and is Kim Pegula's brother. http://www.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/music/2015/10/31/black-river-entertainment-rises-music-row-underdog/74289378/ http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2016/06/21/black-river-entertainment-gives-pse-unique-mix/86144428/ At any rate, someone to root for at this year's Grammys. Best. Charles

Man, this one is hard to take

I hate the Pats with a passion. My wife who knows nothing about football & the NFL hates the Pats with a passion. But last night that QB and that coach put on a master class in how not to give up. They might be the best tandem ever. As much as I'm depressed about the result, it might be the most entertaining SB I've ever watched. The NFL is just fine. And they know it. As much as Belichick & Brady are the Trumps of the NFL. -
I wish they had kept Sanjay Lal as WR coach. He did a solid job.
-
Stop it! You're making me bust a stitch. And it hurts!! Word.

Hugh Jackman? Is he coaching football now? Man, that would be cool to have Wolverine coaching the Bills...;-)
