Yep. Just what we need to turn things around.... a frickin 70 year old GM. What next, Mora, Schottie, Levy, Reeves as HC. Holy mother mother of Mary. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Some like, him some don't. But, consider that he's done nothing special, regardless of whether he's been a coordinator or HC. 1) Has a track record of one good season (usually his first), and then mediocrity from there. 2) Somewhat of a micro manager. Documented that in NO he even would patrol the offices when he got in early and look for stuff out of line like copy paper, desks neat, etc. 3) History of alienating, being confrontational and jetisoning decent players. Roaf, Fields, Turley, Ricky Williams, Aaron Books, and a few others... although Turley & Williams may have deserved it at te time. 4) Publicly ratted out Kent Hull (a Bill that would qualify for sainthood) for using steroids, a claim that Hull vehemently denied and could be evidenced by the fact that he played at a svelt 265 lbs. at 6'4". Hull's strength and toughness came from his background as a Missippi farm boy that probably tossed bails of hay from the time he could walk. I especially found it hypocritical of Haslett, who went to Indiana State in the mid 70s as a 180 lb. DB and came out a 235 lb. inside LB that started right away with the Bills. 235 lbs in that era was considered pretty big and comparable to 250 -255 today for an ILB. Putting on 50 lbs. of muscle in 4 years in mid 70s when steroids were rampant... draw your own conclusions. 5) Dude kicked Terry Bradshaw in the head when he was on the ground in a playoff game. Well, I ain't opposed to that behavior once and a while, but he chastised Kyle Turley for the same type of crap. If the Bills bring him in, they'd have to have a competent GM that ain't afraid to get in his face and tell him to cut the crap. Don't know about you, but the thought of a HC that needs some scrutiny and supervision doesn't appeal to me at all.

My perfect scenario at One Bills Drive

Now that's shooting the messenger! -
Bulger's the best option, good decision maker, quick release, good leader, and has played in a dynamic offense. But the Bills better get their O line schitt together first, otherwise, Bulger won't to hold up to the punishment.

Offense: Fred Jackson Defense: George Wilson Rookies: Offense: Andy Levitre (he started every game) Defense: Jairus Byrd (He needs to stay healthy for every game)

If I were the Bills Football operations guy, the first thing I'd do is hold onto Simmons and Incognito. Butler is not really the guard or tackle you want starting consistently. He's a good player, but border line starting material. We start him and we're not sighting our standards high enough. Besides, he's coming off a serious injury and even if he plays up to the level he's played it, it isn't good enough. As for Woods... damnit. His injuy was serious and changes everything. He could've been a Hog Hannah type, may he still can be. I see Woods being place on the PUP before the season. It gives him time to recover while being around the team and included in the meetings. Then he can come off the PUP and practice for 3 weeks before being activated. Thus you can see why I'd like Simmons and Incognito around. They are experienced vets that have played on better teams than the one they are playing on now. I would also address both tackles in the draft and free agency. Unless there is a sure fire LT available when the Bills are on the clock, I would tend to get the LT via free agency first, then, in the draft, if that sure fire LT is there, take him and play him at RT, if possible, the first season or two, then move him to LT. We also need to draft a center to replace Hangartner. Hang man is adequate, and Kudos to him for being one of two OL that played everygame, but He's at a certain level, and I think we need to set the bar a bit higher. Lastly... if Jonathan Scott, Jamon Merideth, Kurt Chambers, or Seth McKinney are brought back, call in the dogs, the hunt is over... we'll suck again. D. Bell should also be put on notice... we have no margin for marginal players. We must have a solid OL, especially if a young QB is going to be groomed.

God Ice... it probably is just smoke and mirrors, but it's probably the most exciting BS the fans have had to sink their teeth into this decade. I remember how excited fans were to get Donahoe, then TKO and Bledsoe... but Cowher would be bigger than all of that. Only thing we can do now is just see what unfolds. Jan 15 is less than two weeks from the Bills season finale. I would hope the housecleaning would be done by the 6th and a new regime announced by the 10th.

I'm pretty sure it's just an anouncement that several Bills will be auditioning for American Idol. On a side note, Ralph has finally agreed to sell the naming right to the stadium. It will be named Celino & Barnes Field.
-
You have a very good point. Bledsoe, Milloy, Banta-Cane, now Seymour, and a host of others have not lived up to their reputations or contracts. Ty Law was a short term answer for a couple of teams, but was paid way too much money for his performance. Asante Samuel is the only one I can think of that has done squat since being a Pat. Todd Light is a good LT. I would compare him to John Fina. Solid, not spectacular or real physical. Just a sound fundamental and smart player. He is often injured and on getting close to the end of his career. The best fit for him would not be a rebuilding team like the Bills. However, on an established team that is either a perrenial playoff team or on the cusp, he could make a contribution.

Umenyiora may be available this off season?
Dr. Trooth replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ain't we puttin the cart in front of the horse? WTF?? Yeah, sure bring him in and sign him up first. Then we get a GM and a coach that want a big ass physical 3-4 defense. OOOPS Umenyiora ain't makin the team... guess we pissed that money down the tube. any talk of players at this point is totally stupid. We ought to be worried about the dude in charge of FB operations. Once that is cleared up, the rest will fall into place. -
Ain't no QB in this draft that's going to do squat for at least 3 years. And, if the Bills don't get competent tackles in here pronto, no QB is going to be worth a damn. Klausen is a myth. He's Rick Mirer, Brady Quinn, Ron Powlus all wrapped in one. Notre Dame ain't had a QB worth a carbon atom come out in 30 years, and this year is no exception.
-
Dude... let it go. No coach alone is going to change the face of this team. Jesus Christ as a coach ain't going to lead this team to the playoffs. Bills need a real football guy to come in and take full control of football operations. A GM that knows talent and a GM with a pair that won't tolerate pansy coaches that accept less than mediocrity from the players. A solid football GM will hire the right coach.
-
Dude... Troy frickin Smith???? Do I have that right???? A 3rd string QB for a 3rd rounder??? Are you insane or Tom Modrak???? Lay the hell off the crack pipe!!!
-
FOLKS... This is what you get when you have no "Football Guy" at the top. Inability to even recognize incompetence at the scouting, personnel, coaches, let alone do something about it. If you have incompetence at all of those positions, you are going to have a lot of incompetent players attempting to execute an incompetent offense, defense, and gameplan. Don't blame the players... many of them won't play a down in the NFL after this season... unless they cross a picket line when the "A" players go on strike. When Donahoe was canned, he left behind a bunch of lemmings. Ralph likes lemmings. Ralph, how has that worked out for you this decade? Don't count on Ralph making the changes that are necessary to build a winner. There certainly will be changes, but it will only be superficial... "window dressing"... a new facade. Who knows... new uniforms, logo? Whatever. Anything less than the entire football operations being blown up will result in continued losing seasons. The only comfort Bills fans have had this decade is to see the players of the 90's enshrined in the HOF.

Schobel contemplating retirement
Dr. Trooth replied to Delete This Account's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
seems to be a lot like Phil Hanson sounded after enduring a losing season and then retiring. By seasons end, Schobel will have logged enough plays this season to have played in 19 games. Whether he retires or not will depend on the Bills plans going forward. He might not be in them. Or, if the Bills come to their senses and switch to the 3-4, he might be able to play an OLB for a couple of years, much like Bryce Paup. He'd have to put up Bryce Paup numbers though, to justify his salary. -
He's too beautiful to play MLB. He should be a wr, kicker or 3rd string QB. MLBs need to be ugly (like Merv Krakau), smell bad, have a front tooth missing, talk trash all game long, get personal fouls, foam at the mouth, have blood on their uniform, a scruffy beard (Poz has no facial hair), cuss out the officials, spit a lot (especially at opposing players), and a helmet with a lot of dings in it. Dick Butkus, Jack Lambert, Chris Spielman, Ray Nitchke, Sam Huff... one of them must have a son or nephew that has some of there genes.

Is Brohm the future or do the bills go for another?
Dr. Trooth replied to zer0vette's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I were king for a day, I bring in a new QB... and I don 't hesitate. There's a reason Brohm was rotting on the Packers practice squad. He replaced Hamdam. Replacing Hamdam with Gino Torretta would have been an upgrade. Come to think of it, Gino might have beaten out the other two. -
that splains it... I hope he had a snowblower or a good neighbor with one. Word on the stret was that iwas 2 feet of heavy wet vintage.

For real? If I'm Donte I'm staying put cuz no way is any team going to pay him more than what he's making now. If I'm the Bills, I'm dropping the big fat "VOID" stamp on that contract on Feb. 20.

What other kind is there? Besides, dude's from Kansas... Kansas and corn go together, right?
