1. That's why I stated right after DJ got fired that a new GM should be in place before the last three games. I guess we've got one week left to do the right thing.... but, Ralph don't give a crap about reshaping the organization. He'll continue to "play" us like a violin.
2. If it aint a big name player that's washed up, it'll be something else... a stupid draft pick that everyone wants... like "Pusslusny", Maybin, or "Hardly"... or a new type hat, new unis.... anything to sell tickets to the stupid, but no substantive changes that would turn the franchise around to winning consistently. Look, Ralph is 92. There's no longer a fire in the belly. Winning is that last thing he gives a crap about. He knows, at his age, he doesn't have a lot of time left... that's a fact of nature. His focus is squarely exiting this world leaving his heirs with a well thought out estate with next to no headaches. Brandon's orders are to jus keep on keeping on. Sell tickets. When fans B word about the losing, Ralph will give the necessary lip service.... we've all heard it before. "This is unacceptable" "I'm going to look at the entire organization" "we're going to be a major player in free agency" All this crap about him going to pay up to $10M/yr. for a coach is BS, more lip service... ain't happening.
3. Clausen is just another overhyped, overrated, ND QB.... ND hasn't produced schitt at QB in 30 years (montana), and this year will be no exception. Locker is a west coast pampered Sarkisian boy that ain't gonna cut it in Buffalo. There's only one QB in this draft that is potentially Buff ready... and that is Tony Pike. He' wouldn't step right in, but he's got the moxy that no other QB in this draft has. And, after the showing against Pitt on Sat., a lot of you would have to agree. I will add... Bradford has the best ability of all of them... arm, quick release, decisive, but brittle as fine crystal. If he's in a warm weather sight with a solid offensive line he'll be OK... til he gets smacked a couple of times.
4. C'mon folks. Only those seriously lacking gray matter believe that Tebow can be a good NFL QB. Trust me folks, he can't. Let me just say this.... when it comes time for guys like Tebow and McCoy to have to put a pair of man pants on for the senior bowl and hula bowl... when they have to play under center and simulate a pro offense instead of a spread, you're going to see just how badly these guys project at the next level. what kills me is, how poorly prepared Tebow's college coaches prepared him for the next level... unless, of course the next level they were preparing Tebow for was the CFL... I think he'd have a decent chance there.
5. So Fabio Pussluzny is quoted in Sunday's Buff News (I can't believe the biggest kitty MLB in the league and the Bills worst since Edgar Chandler had the stupidity to say this.) "We're not as physical as we need to be sometimes," middle linebacker Paul Posluszny said. "It's unacceptable for us to get pushed around like we have been." How bout I straighten out the quote of what Fabio said, and what he really shold have said... "I'm never as physical as I need to be 99% of the time," middle linebacker Paul Posluszny said. "It's a disgrace to the number 51, the Buffalo Bills, and football in general, that I get pushed around like I have been."
6. It may work out for a year or two, but at the end of the day, I'm not sure Singletary, Fewell... (I'll throw DelRio into the same category) know talent and getting them to play to their potential. These guys want yes guys that play hard and do what they're told. Of course you want that kind of player, but you need a very strong front office recognizing bums and not letting guys like Pozluzny, Whitner, McCargo, Youboty, Ellis, and Maybin into the front gate. With a strong front office, a plan, and a plan that fits BUFFALO and it's elements, the only thing left is a coach that coaches that type of football. Personally... I think if you have the right GM and staff, a good fit for Buffalo HC would be a guy like John Fox... a blue collar guy with not a lot of sizzle, but a lot of meat and substance. He doesn't have much of a front office in Carolina... but he seriously needs someone above him to make sound player decisions for him... like getting rid of Delhomme, for one. He seems to get a lot out of nothing... and always seems to have a good ground game no matter what scrub he throws in there.
7. When Jax got the first down at the 4 with 1:17, Jax ran a play and the Bills called a TO with 1:12 left. At that time, I was astonished that they didn't just let Jax score,... the worst that could have happened was exatly what did happen... they get a TD and a 2pt. conversion, but the Bills have all three time outs. Obviously, the Bills chose not to do that. The net result was losing 16 seconds and wasting 2 timeouts. Instead of the two spikes inside the last minute, they could have used timeouts. Keep in mind... all they had to do was get in field goal range to send the game into OT.... but they also had enough time to score a TD. Whether the Bills could have made the necessary completions or get a break with a pass interference, we'll never know. The game management at the end of the first half was also lame... a TD at that point, in hind sight, would have been enough to win the game as it turned out.
8. At this point, it is what it is... and it is a mess. If the front office ain't blown up, the rest is meaningless.
9. Let's get one thing straight..... Fewell is auditioning for his next gig after this season. So, naturally he's gonna pull out the stops and try to get wins. He ain't a head coach (or even a DC), however, the title looks good on a resume. perhaps he can be a DB coach in Detroit next season... or even in Oakland. Or, maybe some division I school will be dumb enough to do what Syracuse did a few years ago (Greg Robinson) and hire him as thei HC.
10. Don Shula and Mike Holmgren failed as HC/GMs, as well as Parcells with the Jets. It just can't work. So...if Ralph does something stupid like this, it will be a disaster... and especially if it is Shanahan. Shanahan was only succesful when he had a hall of famer at QB... John Elway, for a short time. He was unable to get a conf. championship post Elway with Griese and Jake the Snake, and certainly not with Cutler. He's got much less to work with in Buffalo and he's proven he can't develop a QB into the elite group. Elway was handed to him already an elite. Look folks... I don't know what Ralph is thinking or what direction he's going... and neither does anyone else, especially the media. However, just stepping back and looking at the whole picture, not just one side of the picture or the other, just plugging in a different HC ain't going to make much of a difference. It's no different than dropping a new engine in a car that has a rusted out frame and bad transmission. Ralph has a golden opportunity here... he's canned his coach in mid season, and he must know that Russ Brandon is a complete idiot as a GM. If I were in Ralph's shoes, I'd be hunting for a competent GM and have him signed and in place before the last 4 games. By doing that, the new GM can get a sense of what talent is here, the coaches, the scouting, etc. and whether it is a total rebuilding we're looking at or a retooling. That would lead him to selecting the next HC... and the next HC better be one with at least 6 NFL seasons as an HC, with a winning record.... unless, of course, that GMs name happens to be Bill Polian.
11. this is exactly why cousins shouldn't marry.
12. Dude... relax... all this means is that it is a stone cold lock that the Bills will finish 3-13 instead of potentially 5-11. Jauron absolutely has no business being a head coach on any level. But, as bad as he is... the guys on his staff trying to run this ship are even worse. The liklihood is that you will see the Bills get blown out by 20 or more points each of the next 7 weeks. The scary part.... Jauron was the defacto DC... so, if Fewell takes over it is really going to be a mess.
13. Dude... Russ fits Ralph's philosphy to a tee. It's all about serving up a different flavor koolaid every year. The under 40 crowd loves koolaid and that's where the money is coming from. He can't bull**** the over 40 crowd anymore... they know the difference between koolaid and Dom Perignon.
14. Dude.... Maybin is lost at DE. He can't play LB. And even if he could, he'd have to play in a 3-4. How bout we make him a center.... or left tackle. How about Tight end? The Bills defensive ends aren't exactly the elit of the NFL. Their jobs could be taken very easily. They aint gonna start on a lot of NFL teams. If Maybin can't start, or even contribute, at DE on this team, he can't play in the NFL.
15. Yep... we need to add a QB with a career QB rating of 75 when we've already got a loser QB with a career rating of 78.
16. Let me add a comment... Yes, absolutely. Vick would be a perfect fit in Buffalo. We need a QB with a career 75 rating. This way we could continue our tradition of losing, which began in the new millenium, right on through to the next millenium. Wait, don't we already have a QB with a career rating of 78? I think, for the sake of maintaining continuity and contiuance of our losing tradition, we should stick with Checkdown Charlie.
17. Brady, on average, releases the ball in less than 3 seconds (and many times less than two seconds) from the time the ball is snapped. There were only about 4 times in which he took more than 3.5 seconds to unload the ball.... and the one time he held it for 5 seconds, he was sacked by Starks. The point? Any idiot... let alone an NFL OC, has to know that if you design and structure an offense, when you pass, you need to have that ball gone before "four missisippi". If your QB ain't doing that with regularity, you need to get your ass kicked to the curb, cuz you ain't gonna cut in in the NFL. And, if the FO, HC don't know it, they have no business coaching in the NFL. So... next time you see Trent or Fitz holding on to the ball till the time you count to four missisippi, the sack is on them and Van Pelt... not the Oline.
18. Don't laugh.... Russ needs a fresh batch of koolaid to put your ass back in the stands. Ron Mexico, TO... PT Barnem was right.... "there's a sucker born every minute"
19. way to coherently think things through. What is a new OC going to do for this team at this juncture? He has to use the same playbook... same terminology, same players.... plus he has to deal with the loser offensive assistants. So, remind me, just for a laugh... who would want the gig as interim OC for the Bills?
20. Fabio is a marginal starting LB in the NFL. Never thought I'd say this, but, the Bills LB position is so pathetic right now that Ellison and Draft are the best two LBs on the roster. After that, there is a considerable dropoff.... and that includes Fabio.
21. Uh, this just in.... Russ Brandon ain't, and has never been, the GM. His title is Chief Operating Officer. He doesn't have a plan to build the Bills into a winner, nor is he capable. From Ralph's perspective, Russ has done an outstanding job. And, I would have to concur.... the dude has managed to sell roughly 55,000 season tickets while the team has gone way south, rather than north. Keep drinking that koolaid Russ serves up every spring and you'll be treading water for quite a while. The Bills are run by committee. All Russ does is round up Modrak, Guy, Oberdorf, & Jauron. The most powerful of these is Oberdorf... he works the salary cap. This collection is the most pathetic bunch of losers this organization has ever had. Anyway, they sip latte, massage each other, and come away from the table with a consensus as to how not to really improve the Bills, but what glaring weaknesses they might need to dab a little mortar on. Then they run it by Ralph, and he asks them to look for a much cheaper option... Akin to patching a hole in your wallboard with chewing gum. None of them has the balls to tell Ralph the truth to his face . The closest guy that ever stood up to Ralph was Polian. Butler came close. And, Mularkey, rather than tell him to his face, did the next best thing... and said "adios, I ain't playing this pathetic game". At least he walked away with a pair of testicles.... that's a hell of a lot more that can be said for the losers in this organization. The only way out of this is for the team to be sold to a 51% majority owner that wants to win. If we get that, the entire organization will be turned upside down... even Russ won't be safe. If it were me, there wouldn't be a single person standing from the current organization... Woody Ribeck, Bud Carpenter, Dr. Marzo, Allaire, Chuck Lester, Guy, Modrak, Nix, Brandon, Oberdorf... I mean everyone... think greenfield. I'd bring in a GM that knew his arse from his nose and wouldn't let the people in the organization BS him, sugarcoat things, and blow smoke up his shorts like what's happening now. I know... you all want to know how I really feel.
22. By that logic, why was Mike Mamula a bust? All a coaching staff has to do is decide to make the conversion... if they believe the player can cut it. Maybin started in college for part of one season at DE and gets rewarded with being the number 11 selection. What a bunch of crap. No way could he play LB in this defense. We know he can run straight up the field past the QB. Wow, whoopy. Get him in a situation where he has to back peddle, cover a RB or TE... and he's gonna get torched even more than he does already by OTs. His only chance... and I say this guardely, is in the right 3-4 defense... and then it is only a chance. Usually, by now, you see a flash here and there if a high draft pick is gonna be a player. Maybin, in my book has gone from Maybin to Maybe, and now to "NOT". As far as I'm concerned, you can drop the "BUST" stamp on him right now...but, before you do, first drop that stamp on the Bills FO. In a time when the Bills needed a high pick like that to contribute right away and make an impact, they whiffed horribly.
23. Totally disheartening. How much sleep have you lost over this?
24. Blame Owens for what? Because the team has no front office, HC, or a real NFL coaching staff? No OL, no QB? You can use the bust word, but if you must point to a player, go point the finger at Maybin. You wanna talk bust, I knew it from the get go. He had Mike Mamula, Vernon Gholston written all over him.
