  1. The "trooth" is... We will not know who's right for maybe 3 years. That is, unless, Donte Whitner and/or McCargo is a standout rookie in the league this season. I tend to agree with Marv on this one... If you have the ideal players for your schemes sitting there in front of you when you pick, why take the risk of ending up without the guy and having to select your plan "b" guy? Where's the value there? The Plan b guy may be a close fit but not exactly what you want... maybe the difference between Ronnie Lott and Bennie Blades... One a "champion", the other an "also ran". The extra picks you get may bring you "quantity", but not necessarilly "quality". Remember, the critics are folks that never drafted a player or were never held accountable for bringing in a player that turned out to be a flop. They are no better than the weatherman on the evening news... they just roll the dice... and even if they're wrong, they still get to keep their jobs... as long as they continue to be "entertaining". That's the "trooth".
  2. I do not know how anyone could make any type of informed answer to this. The poll would, essentially, be a beauty contest. Why? Because no one really knows what this offense is going to be about. Most may assume that because Fairchild is the OC, he will replicate the Rams offense. If that is the case then, one would have to give Kelly Holcomb the nod because the Rams offense was based on quick decisions (throws) down the field (not deep down field - Holcomb's arm doesn't have that range). JP looked much like a deer in headlights last season not seeming to know when and where to thow. Nobody knows much about Nall... for all we know, he could be head and shoulders above everyone else. I certainly don't have a clear picture of what Fairchild's offense is going to like like and I don't know of any TBDers that do. The "trooth" is ... we don't know what we don't know.
  3. Why is this information that we need to know? Please. layoff the guy. He's had to deal with more off field issues with family stuff of a serious nature (the past 3 yrs.) than many people have to deal with in a lifetime. The "trooth" is, each of us should know when the right time is for us to retire. If we don't, then, that decision may rest in the hands of someone else. He's a good guy, a good FB player, and he's deserving of a lot more respect than he's been given over the past few months. GB drafted a QB last year. If they have a problem with Favre, deal with it and move on... it doesn't get more simple than that.
  4. I think the Bills are looking at this seriously. I thought the defense they are implementing called for aggressive speedy safeties, with range. Vincent may have the range and may still have the speed, but I don't see an aggression in his game or a willingness to step up into the box and lay the wood. The bills have plenty of safeties besides Vincent... Wire, Rob Lee (Europe), Leonhard, Woods, Bowen, and now Whittner & Simpson. And plenty of corners... McGee, Greer, Clements?, King, Youboty I believe Vincent's fate all comes down to what happens with Clements.
  5. Could mean many different things. Certainly Coy Wire's departure is a possiblity. But it is going deeper than that. Rashad Baker will need to step up or he is probably gone. Could be that Clements is going to sit out the year and, if so, perhaps Vincent moves back to corner. And even if Clements signs his franchise tender, the Bills are not going to cave in to his $$$ demands, so he would become a FA again next year. The difference is, Nate once again finds himself playing for a big contract and this time the Bills will have Youboty ready to replace him next year. I don't see both Clements and Vincent playing this season. I think it will be one or the other, not both. If Clements comes aboard, then Vincent is a June cut. If Clements balks, Vincent is insurance and steps in at cb. I think the Bills thought out many different scenarios with the secondary and, I think, were very diligent in there drafting. When the dust finally settles, there is an extreme possiblity that Youboty, Whittner, and Simpson, plus McCargo will all be starting next season. You can pencil Whittner in now. How can anyone squalk about that? 4 starters with your first 4 picks? When was the last time that happened? The Bills did not go for the "sizzle" and "flash" like the Donahoe regime did. I think they went out and got the steak and substance this time. I believe their first 5 selections will make a big contribution this season. That has not been the case the past few years. They had a quiet and unassuming draft. In fact I've got a feeling this whole organizantion is flying below the radar and many teams will underestimate them... enough so that they could quietly sneak into the playoffs. The face of this whole team has changed. I don't think anyone can predict how good or bad they will be because we just don't have enough to go on. Even the preseason won't shed a whole lot of light. Eight games in though, we will have an answer. For right now though.... we don't know what we don't know. As for all of these draft experts... well not many of them played or coached. And none of them, if any, ever made a draft pick in their life or put their nuts out on the chopping block and held accountable for a draft pick they made. They aren't much better than weathermen are. They predict, and if they're wrong, so what....what are we going to do, fire them?
