All the negative articles from the Media
Dr. Trooth replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes this is true. I was in a Subway sandwich shop in Pittsford during training camp. I noticed Jerry Sullivan, Larry Felser, Chuck Pollack, Vic Carucci, Sal Maiorama, Alan Wilson and Leo Roth all sitting together at a table. I could actually overhear their conversation. Alan Wilson (no relation to Ralph) was telling the others of the best way to divide this team. Leo Roth (no relation to David Lee), argued that he had a better plan to divide the team. The whole table looked over toward me and they went dead silent (not because of how ugly I am, although that's what I first thought), but because they may have thought I heard them masterminding a plan of how to blow up the Bills. I am suspcious that they may have recognized me from an NFL owners meeting in which I overheard Jerry Jones, Paul Tagliabue, Daniel Snyder, and Al Davis, during breakfast at McDonalds, concocting a plan to lock the Bills out of the postseason. If it weren't for the God damn dickhead media sons a bitches, there is no doubt in my mind that the Bills would be 8-0 right now. They have divided this team. -
i'll throw one into the ring......

Next time you have one of these... just blow it off, please. -
As evidenced by what? TH played with a broken bone in his leg (not a wt. bearing bone) for something like 3 or 4 games. WM wouldn't play with a broken fingernail.
-
Allow me to characterize the difference between the two this way. Willis = All 'blow' and no 'show' Travis = All 'show' and no 'blow' Nuff said.
-
not to worry... if this team keeps playing like it has, they won't need too many concession workers because there won't be anyone to serve.
-
YES!!!!
-
No... Butler is strictly a tackle and Duke Preston is too soft to be a full time starter.
-
What happens if he sucks hind tit next week, and then plays well the rest of the season? Will next week's game not have been a make or break game?

If the season ended today..........

The operative word here seems to be "talented". I'm not sure that "talented" and "back" should be used together when describing Willis. In this case, those words are mutually exclusive. Is Willis elusive, can he make a defender miss? Does he have the speed to take it to the house? Does he have Walter Payton, Jerome Bettis, Ricky Williams, Jamaal Lewis type power? Does he consistently pick up the blitz and do that part of the job? Does he consistenly make plays in the passing game? The oline may be important, but if you're a "talented back" you make the oline look good, not the other way around. Corey Dillon proved it in Cincy and Ladanian in SD. What we need to be here is objective and honest. Instead of listening to Willis's words to the world that "he's the best in the business" and taking him at his word. How bout he prove it first, and let us decide. In other words, instead of holding a RB with a career 3.9/carry avg. high up on a pedestal, how about we hold his feet to the fire and stop making excuses for why he can't function at a higher level? If your the best, you make everyone around you better. Tell us Willis does that. -
Dude... you are clearly better than those two bums.

BULLsh--!!! Mike Hart is a damn good back regardless of who his OL line is. In fact... Hart makes an Oline look a lot better thatn it otherwise would. Mike Hart, at any level, is an outstanding back. This kid has stuff you can't coach... vision, instincts, and subtle moves that make a defender miss. I'm not saying Jake Long is not a good OL.... all I'm taking issue is with that statement regarding why Hart is so productive... that statement is just not true. -
Aye,aye aye. If you're the coaching staff, what do you do? Defensively, you have a huge soft spot in the middle. The only one you can really hang your hat on is Kyle Williams. Triplett's done nothing and Anderson is a decent backup, at best. TKO doesn't look like the TKO we knew. Either he's done, or, maybe not the right fit for this defense... I just don't know. Defensively it is going to be a long 9 games, because ther is just nothing you can do with what you've got. Offensively, you've got a multitude of issues... Left tackle, a RB that can't "finish" of a run and seems to get winded rather quickly. I'm sorry, but Willis just doesn't seem to have that burst, that 2nd gear that separates a good back from star. And, then you've got a QB that seems to just be spinning his wheels. The only alternative you've got coming out of a bye to attempt to slavage the season is to make a change at QB. If you do that though, who do you go with? Holcomb? Can he stretch a defense? Not from what I've seen. Nall? Big question mark. If the coaching staff does turn to him now, what does it mean for JP? I think he's got 2 yrs. left on his contract... can the Bills afford to eat his contract? Or, could he be a backup for the next two seasons? If he's a backup, who does he backup... Nall? If Nall is called upon to finish off the season and doesn't play any better than JP has, then what, does the coaching staff say... QB ain't the problem and they've got to bring in players to surround the QB. Or, do they say that QB's the problem. Either way, aren't they shooting themselves in the foot, because this regime brought in Nall, Fowler, and Reyes. If neither JP, Nall, or KH is not the QB for this team, then who? Ralph ain't going to like rolling the dice on a FA QB, if there's one pout there... he's been down that rodd before, and he's still got a bad taste from RJ. Draft a rookie QB (looks like a top 7 pick at this rate) in the 1st round. Brady Quinn? I've got serious doubts about this dude. He's the 35th rated QB and gets sacked an awful lot... and his head coach is Charlie Weiss. Plus, the Bills have down God awful with 1st rd. picks from Notre Dame. We all remember (and probably want to forget) the likes of Walt Patulski, Tony Hunter, and Greg Bell... all 1st rd. busts extrordinaire. So... I don't have a warm n fuzzy with Quinn. Who else is out there in the draft... Tyler Palko? I like his Pennsylvania background... as there is a long list of QBs that were pretty hardy, blue collar, and succesfull... but is he good enough to make it in the NFL? Man, this team is really in a pickle... I noticed an awful lot of empty seats at the Ralph today... and in the 1st Qtr. Only 7 games into the season. The state of this team does not bode well for season ticket sales next year. You have an eroding fan base due to the economic climate, and now you have no marquis player to attract fans. I don't know if this regime can pull a rabbit out of of their hat, but, seems to me that they've only got one shot left for this season, and it seems like it's Nall right now. He can't possibly be worse than JP... or God forbid, could he?
-
Wow... if it wasn't enough for Felser to speak his mind about JP, the post game comments by Vic Carucci were not complimentary. Vic bascially said that if the coaching staff wanted to know what the have in JP, they should pretty much know by now and he doesn't think JP's going to get it done. When Vic chimes in like that, well... he's a guy that has a lot of respect, and he usually doesn't say a lot of negative things about a player. So, he ain't throwing JP under the bus... JP walked under it. I was going to wait til season's end to make my own decision on whether or not JP was ever going to cut it. After watching him today, I'm leaning toward making my decision sooner. He's having a lot of problems now, but the thing that pisses me off the most about him is that he doesn't seem to have "presence". I mean, his turnovers today, and that stupid 5 yard penalty for letting the clock run down early in the game, was because his head wasn't screwed on. He's been sacked about 22 times or so and fumbled like 7 times (an avg. of 1 fumble per game). So, basically, 1 out of 3 sacks he's coughing it up. At this level, if you've got to be told to take care of the ball and not to stare down your receivers, you don't belong in the NFL.

It was that damn B word that gave you a haircut. Damnit, I had a bad feeling about that... it just wasn't right.
-
Damn straight! And... you just can't beat a barber shop shave. And, damn... you smell real good when you leave.
-
Dude... I'm past that. I use the drive through.
-
Dude... are you serious? Are you saying what LT has accomplished over the past few seasons doesn't matter because of the past 5 games he's played this season? Playing with a re-tooled o line and new QB? Is his TE Gates having a typical Gates season? Dude... you are prima facia evidence of a fan that has swallowed too much bad koolaid. You couldn't think objectively if your little sister's life depended on it. Shame.

Women cutting a guy's hair? That just ain't right.

Willis has been around for 4 years...3 of them starting almost every game. At the end of the day, he's got a 3.9 yd. per carry avg. Never reached the 1300 yd. mark, never had a run of more than 41 or a td run over 20, and never snatched more than 28 passes in a season. He's neither a skilled or willing blocker, nor does he pose much of a threat to beat you. Corey Dillon didn't have squat in Cincy and put up great numbers. Ladanian didn't, and still doesn't have much around him on O... anyone care to name LT's Olinemen over the past several years? Who are his wrs? Aside from Drew Brees and the Antonio G. connection of the past couple of years and a stout defense, he's had nothing... yet he manages to put up very good numbers. So, when do we stop making excuses for why Willis doesn't have 2,000 yards rushing, a 5.0 yd. per carry avg. and catching 60-70 balls.... yada yada yada? What... do we need to construct a team of all pros to surround him just so he can function like a top back should? If Willis was going to be a top 5 or 7 back in this league, it would have happened by now. I'll concede that he's at least average for an NFL starter. He is what he is... and opponents don't have to work very hard to figure out how to stop him.

What would be the names of these Free agents and Rd. 1 pick and how much should we pay? Let me know and I'll see that Marv gets the message.

Ya gotta play who ya gotta play and when you gotta play em and where you gotta playem. If'n you keep gettin beat. Well, get better and you won't get beat the next time.

Remember how the Bills tried to pry
Dr. Trooth replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take it with a grain of salt. It's a writer who has no clue as to what any given player's assignment is on any given play. Not only that... The Bears defense makes everyone look bad. Trust me... if Reggie Wells was as bad as that dude says he is, Denny Green would have kicked him to the curb in a heartbeat. He has no patience for for bums. -
Keep telling yourself this... and the Bills will win the SB this year. If you know a faster way, we all want to know... especially Levy & co. FYI... Bills ain't making it to the big show this year, next year, or the year after... not enough horses.

I'm with you there. Gandy's not a bad player though. He's a gurd that has played admirably at the most importnat and scrutinized position on the Oline. He is what he is and at LT he's a stop-gap plug the hole in the dike type of guy. We definitely need LT C & RB upgrades next season... and if JP doesn't pan out we're in real trouble because I don't know of a rookie that's ready for prime time yet... even if the Bills get a Lynart, Young, or Cutler type, the rality is their at least 3 years away from taking it to the next level. And, there are no FAs out there that are going to give you much more with the current talent on O. At this point I think they need to get JP a LT, C, and RB and see if it significantly raises his productivity and the team's.

This is a valid question. However, one which must be put into it's proper perspective. Here's my thoughts. If you're 11-5, I think you have to make an honest effort to keep him if it doesn't upset the cap situation and ultimately handcuff you. But, if you're 2-4 (2-5 after this w/e), you're going nowhere fast and this team looks like it's going to end up 6-10 with a lot of luck. So, how could it be another diasater if we're already in the center of a disaster? Is it the difference in being 6-10 and 2-14? I doubt it. Looking ahead to next year, what does a 32 yr. old somewhat undersized LB give your team. Keep in mind that this is the 2nd youngest team in FB... with Vincent gone it makes them younger. And, this is with guys like Fletcher's and Villarial's ages factored in. Then look at this team. The Bills just didn't get a new HC, they got a new GM too. So, whatever the last regime did, like the regime prior, they want to put their signature on this team. A lot of the guys that Donahoe brought in are slowly getting purged. And, it's my guess that London will be among them at season's end. London still has a lot of gas in his tank and will end up with a championship team next year if he doesn't get too greedy (let's be real here... Rosendick is is agent). When you have a new coach, new GM, and a young team, a few veterans like TKO and Fletcher aren't going to do much for you... except take snaps away from young players that will ultimately make up the new core. Just like the great Bills teams of the 90's, the seeds were sewn in the late 80's with a lot of young guys. They had to fight the fight themselves and learn that way... not from vets that no longer were in their prime telling them how it should be done... young guys tend to tune out on that stuff real quick. We don't know what this team will look like in two years, but based on the new guys being brought in (not the ones that were already here), it seems like the theme this team is being built on is speed and character. London still has both and a lot of class, but I think his salary and age will spell his doom with the Bills. Another thing to consider is "does London want to be here"? If you were him, would you? At his age, playing with a bunch of grasshoppers? He deserves better and I think he'll move on his way and on his terms... I don't think it comes down to the Bills making the decision... it's all London.
