On the plus side, we could end up with a top 3 pick. The downside, of course, we'd screw up the pick... or, even if we did get a good player we still don't have an organization that can capitalize on it... maybe on the marketing and $$ side, but not where it matters to the fans... W/L column.

Keep the Cuts Coming
Dr. Trooth replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would Ralph fire him? He's doing exactly what his asked to. Bring in 2nd and 3rd tier free agents. It ain't Guy's fault that Ralph and Overdorf pay them tier 1 money. -
RB is not the GM. RW is the GM. RB is RW's caddy and "gofer" and his title is COO. Ralph will say if and when Guy, Overdorf, Modrak,Jauron go. Then Russ will tell em Ralph sez move on. Russ as a GM is a joke. He can sell ice to an eskimo, and that's his forte. He'd be in over his head in a GM position. If he had any GM savvy and clout, the entire Jauron regime plus a few in the front office would have been kicked to the curb after last season.

Give Bills Coaching Staff Benefit of Doubt
Dr. Trooth replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Benefit of the doubt? What doubt? -
I would have supported thes moves a year and a half ago.

Ralph is now in control of the team
Dr. Trooth replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ralph is Al Davis east. -
Nope. Dick can do and say as he pleases. He is a gone. If not after the season, during it. Ralph ain't giving Jauron another chance to rebuild.
-
Ralph just had him cut so he didn't have to pay him $3m bonus on Sat. Now he has some cash to pay Schonert and also when he fires DJ's ass.

Yep... It was Dick's call all the way. Of course it was his choice. Either can Turk, or be canned himself. Jauron...."I wasn't really even thinking of firing him 3 days ago".... Translation: "Then, Mr. Wison called me up and had a "come to Jesus" conversion with me that really enlightened me. It was really a great conversation and I told Mr. Wison how much I really appreciated his wisdom, and really agreed that Turk was a really bad OC and he really needed to be really fired".

It took 8 weeks to determine who played the best at
Dr. Trooth replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pretty sure Kelsay, Schobel, and Denney could have each had highlight reels playing against 3rd string scabs like Ellis and Bryan did. This is at least Bryan's 3rd trip to training camp. Guaranteed that the 4 DEs (5 counting Maybin) that beat his ass out to make the team get paid a hell of a lot more than Bryan does. So, if he was, at best, even with just one of the others, he'd have one a spot... unless the Bills thought Ellis had more upside. Kelsay aint as bad as everyone says. He looks bad when he gets blown up by an OL because the Bills don't have an LB on his side wortha schitt... Ellison? A lot of time Kelsay is the first and last line of defense on that side. Denney had his best season.... led the Bills in sacks last year and was 8th in tackles (more than any other DL on the Bills) after starting only 11 games. Schoebel has never had less than 6.5 sacks when playing a full season. Schobel, Kelsay, and Denney may not be the best trio of DEs in the league, and, yes, the Bills could definitely do better. But... reality time. Throughout training camp and right now there aint any better DEs than them on this team. -
While waiting for the cuts, I cracked the "Jauron code" and thought I'd share it with my board brothers & sisters.... Jauron: “I think that it’s pretty obvious when you make a decision you know when you should do it,”. “I wasn’t thinking about firing him three days ago. I wasn’t thinking about it two weeks ago. But when you start thinking about it I think you need to move on it and do something. So when I started thinking about it I gave it a good deal of thought and did it. Clearly I believe it’s the right thing to do. It’s just a decision I needed to make I felt and made it.” Translation: "Ralph called me into his office and chewed my ass out. Asked WTF was going on with the offense and asked me if I was comfortable with it. I said yes. Ralph really went off on me. I really like Ralph, and the way he owns though. Anyway, Ralph told me the offense sucked and that if I felt comfortable with it, then he said he should fire my ass. Then he said to think it over, either fire that sorry ass Schonert, or it's my ass. So, I took the high road and fired Schonert. I wasn't about to not fire him like Wade was told to do with Ronnie Jones. I don't have those kind of balls. Besides, if I didn't fire Turk, Ralph would have fired me for insubordination and withheld my pay for a year until I won my arbitration hearing". Jauron: “We started preparing Trent for New England, gave him all New England reps up to this game and we just decided it was better not to put him in there with no preparation for another opponent.” Translation: "I really like Trent Edwards and the way he studies and prepares for games. Trent is not the type of QB that can just go in and wing it. Everything has to scripted. The other three QBs can handle that. But, Trent is a little different. He doesn't know the difference between a 3-4 and a 4-3. We just prepare a game plan for him and he studies it. He doesn't really know if it is a 3-4 or 4-3 we are playing against. He just knows that there are 11 defenders on the field and they are all lined up in some type of alignment. If he sees something we haven't prepared him for, he schittz his pants and just doesn't know what to do. In those cases, we've prepared him to do one of three things... throw to the closest eligible receiver regardless if he's triple covered, get the hell out of the pocket and run out of bounds, or just suck it up and take the sack". Jauron: “With Alex and Eric it’s not like we’re changing scheme,” said Jauron. “We may be changing focus, we may be changing emphasis, but it’s not like we’re adding new things. They’re used to the terminology. Everybody is on the same page. Hopefully it’ll provide a jolt, hopefully a jolt forward and move us on.” Translation: "We can't change the scheme now. Neither of those two guys would know what the hell to do, and, frankly, neither would I. We might change the focus... I mean maybe we will focus more on throwing the ball 7 yards instead of two yards on a 3rd and 7. And, perhaps we'll think about scoring touchdowns a bit more, instead of being happy to be in field goal range. I hope it works, because I'm concerned that Alex, like me, is in way over his head. He did have some OC experience with the Frankfurt Galaxy. But as you all know, that team went 3-7 and the team averaged 16 points per game. But, I'm not sure exactly how many of those points per game their offense scored though. I'm concerned with Eric a bit too because none of the running backs he's coached has really gotten to that 1400-1600 yard rushing mark. They barely manage to get a shade over 1000 yards, which a really good back would have by game 12 or 13".

Well... #1... Only 3 QBs have won a SB in the past 15 years with a rating of under 85. The 3 QBs that were below 85 had outstanding defenses that essentially won it for them. #2... In Edwards case, he's in his 3rd year and it's time for him to prove he's a starter in this league. I think his contract is up after the year... and, if so he would be an ERFA... at least if there is a new CBA. Would you pay starter money to Edwards... a QB that isn't a playmaker, difference maker? Eli's new contract has set the reference point for QB contracts, moving forward. Trent needs to step it up if this team is going to contend for the playoffs. The Bills D is average, so 70-90 ain't gonna cut it... he has to play lights out. He has the skill players around him... now he has to put his man pants on. #3... As for Romo, Cutler, Ryan. Romo is a sunshine QB. When things are going great, he's great. When things don't go so good, he's not a guy that can lead very well and take a team on his back. Cutler is a me me me guy and seems to throw games away in the clutch... as he did againt the Bills last year. Ryan was a rookie, who I thought had an outstanding season, especially when you consider a new coaching staff. Was Roddy White that good, or was Ryan the difference? Turner was a huge factor too. So, of the three, Ryan is the franchise guy... the other two are good, but can they put the team on their shoulders and win the big one? I think Ryan can.

Let's not assume Trent or Maybin is the real deal. Jury still out on Maybin. However, it's crystal clear that Trent will someday make a good backup. This is a make or break year for him. He has to have a rating in that 92-95 arena to be offered starting QB money. Don't hold your breath. The Bills need a lot. If they are holding a top 3 pick, their first priority is a QB. I'm not sold on Bradford, and completely not enamoured with McCoy... another Longhorn with a lot of sizzle and no steak. Hopefully a QB will emerge this year that has it all and is as tough as nails.

[closed]Bills Fire Turk Schonert
Dr. Trooth replied to Billsfan032002's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really??? When did that go down? -
Jauron is in over his head. Any HC that has coached for 3 seasons and can't see that his OC is not a real OC at this level is devoid of common sense and footbal intuition.... period. Schonert has been on his sfff all 3 years. I'm not sure this was his decision... because, after all, he doesn't have a pair and he ain't about to grow a pair at this stage of the game. Someone whispered in his ear and made him a deal he couldn't refuse. Now... regarding "the pill".... he is also in over his head. This is a house of cards that is on the verge of collapse. For any defense to respect an offense, that offense either must be extremely physical and punishing, or, the offense must make the defense defend the entire field. Well, I'm looking at those two options and I don't see either in this Bills team.
-
If bad "O" was the only problem and the Bills have a defense that "brings it", then they would be a potential SB winner.... They are not... period. You can win without an offense... and win the superbowl... see the Ravens superbowl season. Their offense was absolutely woeful. But, their defense was outstanding. The Bills field an average defense. Their front seven is mediocre at best. Until the Bills defense can crack the top 8 and put s5-45 sacks, yes, I would have to say that they suck. I hold my footbal team to a higher standard than many football fans do.

There are many on this board that seem to think that Jauron and the Bills can't be as bad as what they've demonstrated this preseason, and that they are just holding back and will lay a huge suprise on the Pats in the season opener. That's total and utter nonsense. They may lay a surprise.... or two... or three.... but, reality check time folks, they ain't gonna beat the Pats. This Bills team ain't in their class. I'm going to tell you how you beat the Pats... and this Bills team doesn't have what it takes. Go back to the last time the Bills beat the Pats.... season opener ....2003 I think. Malloy, Williams, Adms, TKO, Fletcher, Clements...that group. They beat em by "briniging it". The defense was physical and they got to Brady early and often. The offense played on a short field much of the game. Anyone, either there or watching on TV, could tell the Bills were not intimidated and had an attitude that, "I'm gona kick your ass and leave tread marks on your face... we don't like you, we don't like your kids, we hate your dog, your wife, your momma... not in our house, not today, no way"! This team is not that type of team. This team is a bunch of alter boys and choir boys that would rather serve communion and help the opposition beat the snot out of them, than to stand up to them and club the crap out of them. What we have is an extremely docile and kitty coach who has created a team in his own likeness... a bunch of pussies that are afraid to play in the mud and compete play for play. So... the way to beat the patriots is not to try to outscheme them... believe me, if that's their strategy... no way in hell can Jauron matchup with Belichick. They way to beat the Patriots is to stand up to them, and not be the chicken shitz they are, and play smash mouth, physical football...and a lot of it, relentlessly for 60 minutes. Aggressive offense that ain't afraid to take it to them and an aggressive defense that goes after them on every play and not be afraid of losing. That's the formula to beat the Pats. There Dick... you've got the recipe... too bad you can't cook and don't have a lot of the ingredients.

According to Forbes Bills value increased 3%
Dr. Trooth replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There seems to be a misconception that just because Jax hardly sells out and doesn't have robust season tix sales, they are doing poorly. Wrong. All that means is that Jax is not sharing as much ticket revemue of, say, as the Bills. What Jax does have is a hefty lux box sales because Jax has some strong businesses and wealth in the area. Lux box revenue and naming rights revenue are not shared as ticket sales are. Hell... if the owners revenue sharing structure stays put, I envision a new sadium with 20,000 seats available to the general public (for a PSL fee of course) and 5,000 luxury suites at $250K a pop. The owner onlys has to share a portion of the 20,000 tix sales plus parking, concessions, & NFL licensed gear. The lux box $$$ is pure gold. So don't get caught up in the BS that just because Jax is in the smallest NFL market and not coming close to filling the seats. The lux boxes are all taken... whether or not they're filled on Sunday's doesn't matter. The Bills chepest ticket is $36, The Jags $50... roughly 1/3 more than the Bills -
Senility in NFL owners is infectious

That bastard. He promised me a front office job and hasn't called me, nor will he take my calls. -
We really like our practice squad and how they practice. The QB does a great job of running our scout team and giving our other three QBs a rest in practice. I like our 4 DBs and how they run to the football. They play hard and study hard and give our other 10 DBs a rest so they will have fresh legs on Sunday.

Our Starting Offense May Not Play 1 Series Together....
Dr. Trooth replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure it has any significance. There are probably 20 or so other teams that could say the same thing.
