Poz would like to stay a Bill
Dr. Trooth replied to Joaquin1119's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Torbor and Davis are already are on the roster and better options than Poz. Poz is not physical or instinctive enough to play in a 3-4. I'm not confident he can play in 4-3. Poz is not even average. Moats is likely to be penciled in at ILB next season, as that's where he started out. There aren't a lot of sure fire ILBs coming out of college this year. But, if the Bills don't have at least one ILB targeted in free agency better than Poz, then this team is worse off than I thought. Desmond Bishop, D'Quell Jackson, Lamar Woodley, Brandon Siler, Stephen Tulloch, and David Harris are all better options than Poz. -
LB's Batten- Merriman-Poz-Moats !!!
Dr. Trooth replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do I understand this correctly? To improve the 24th ranked defense (32nd vs. the run) you believe that adding Batten and Merriman to the front 7 will do? In other words, all along Kelsay and Ayodele were the problem? -
There are a some assumptions that are being made that may or may not hold up. 1) Will Luck declare? 2) If luck declares, who is to say that Carolina will or will not pass on him? They drafted Claussen in round two. Also, Richardson is a cheapo. 3) If Carolina does pass on Luck, who's to say Denver won't jump on him? Hey, Elway supposedly has some input and he is a Stanford guy. Does anyone really believe Tebow is an NFL QB? No matter who the Bills select at #3, what are reasonable expectations of that player? Hey, the last 3 1st pick of the Bills only get on the field if someone gets injured, if then. If you plug the Bills 1st pick in as a starter right away, who gets moved to the curb?

Poz would like to stay a Bill
Dr. Trooth replied to Joaquin1119's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would you re-sign Poz? are you opposed to an upgrade? Do you believe the Bills are set with Poz at one ILB position? What other defesnive starters do you think are worth keeping? At the forefront of your mind should be that this defense is ranked 32nd against the run and in half of their games gave up 200 or more yards rushing. That's just unheard of in the NFL. Personally, there is no scenario I can envision that would motivate me to want Poz back... even as a backup. -
running game v. passing game
Dr. Trooth replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Better have a running game in Buff once the winds of Novemeber kick in, cuz the passes are gonna get caught up with the geese flying south. Bills felt confident in their running game all year. It was a false positive because who wouldn't be confident when you run at will on the Bills defense in practice. What, we don't need no stinkin offensive linemen. -
Dude... Wanny is a 4-3 DC. Doesn't know squat about the 3-4. Buddy just re-upped a 3-4 backer, so that's a clear indication there is no turning back to the 4-3.

12-4 will do it. Too much to expect?

Myth #1) The Bills are close. Close to what? They're 4-12, ranked 24th on defense and offense. OK, I suppose you can say they're close. Closer to the number one pick in the draft than the playoffs. Myth #2) The Bills are a RT away from a good Oline. Levitre and Wood are the only two bona fide NFL starters. Bell is a marginal starter at LT and Hangman is a journeyman center. Without a dominant LT, solid RT, and a guard to compliment Wood and Levitre, don't expect better than 8-8. That's as good as it gets. And, Wang can't get on the field with the schmucks they have now? What a waste of a perfectly good 5th round pick. Myth #3) Steve Johnson is a legitimate #1. Hey' why so delirious? Lee Evans draws the double coverage, Johnson is the benefactor. When he starts drawing double/triple coverage and puts up numbers, come back and give me hell with guns a blazin. Myth #4) George Edwards is an NFL caliber DC. Edwards is in way over his head. He's never been an NFL DC. His defense is one of the worst in Bills history. He's taken a collection of bad players and made them look worse than they really are.... if that's even possible. You can put 11 all pros out there and George will still figure a way to give up 200 on the ground. If Ralph insisted Wade fire Ronnie Jones, then Chan's phone must ringing by now. Myth #5) Fitzpatrick will lead the Bills to the promised land. Only if the promised land is .500. Although Fitz has done an admirable job, and made the players around him better, he's only made an 0-16 team 4-12. He's just not in that Peyton, Eli, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Warner class. You wanna make it to the SB or even the playoffs? Unless you have a killer D that scores lots of points, that's what you need.... not a marginal 85 rating QB Myth #6) Kyle Williams is the answer at NT. You think Kyle Williams really is the Bills answer at NT? Let me ask you this... Jeff Wright was the Bills undersized NT for 4 Bills SB teams. Now, picture Ted Washington playing NT rather than Wright. How many of those SBs do the Bills walk away without a ring? Although Williams might be the Bills best player... on offense or defense... 305 lb. nose tackles don't start for SB teams. Williams probably would be better served playing DE in the 3-4 and having a 345 lb. slob do the dirty work. This team gave up 200 yards on the ground 8 times this season. On second thought, maybe they need two fat slob nose tackles in the middle. Myth #7) The Bills will get an impact player with the #3 pick. The only impact will be on Ralph's wallet (but that ain't a bad thing). Bills have picked 4, 8, 9 in the last decade. Any of them make an impact? In fact, Mike Williams got cut after three seasons and after this season, Whitner will be the 2nd one gone. Spiller looks more like the second coming of Ronnie Harmon. A #9 pick for a fumbling utility back that can't hold up as a starter over a full season? Prove me wrong CJ, I dare ya. Myth #8) Bills Need a TE. Why? Do they even throw to them? When was the last time a Bills TE caught a 30 yard pass down the middle? I've got a better idea. How about bringing in an undersized tackle that can block? Hey, he doesn't have to catch passes, just help one of the Bills helpless tackles block their man. Hey, just keepin it real and tellin it like it is. No bull feces and no sugar plum fairies.

right now the Bills will pick no worse than three cuz Cincy had a slightly tougher schedule, thus they select after buffalo. If Denver wins, Bills select #2. If Denver loses Bills select 3rd. I'm hoping for the #2 pick so that Ralph has to give up a $50m in guaranteed money. Well, if he wants to make payroll he's gonna need to fill the seats. And if he's gonna need to fill the seats, he's gonna have to give fans a reason to be there.... field a good team ralph.

Well, KW better be able to play de.... and I think he can.... a hell of a lot better than NT Bills biggest need (no pun intended) is a big fat slob at NT. Now, that is not to say the Bills select a NT first, or even second (unless it's obvious there is one avaialable). Those 330 lb. types seem to get drafted in rd. 3 and beyond. But...a competent fat slob in the middle of the D would cure a lot for the Bills.

Shawne Merriman tweets "exciting news for bills fans"
Dr. Trooth replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ralph has sold the team -
Not sure if you watched the game. I did, and I thought it was the worst officiated college game I've seen this year. The PF penalty on Cuse for "shoulder to shoulder contact causing the kstate recever to drop the ball... total BS. The call on Cuse for holding in the flat (2nd Qtr.) was BS and directly led to a KSate TD. Then the non call on KState when Syr went for it on 4th down in the 2nd qtr. The LB had his arms wrapped around the Syr TE for two full steps before knocking the Ball down.... no call. Then the one that clearly should have drawn a flag was on Sales 3rd TD catch. Kstate's free safety bumped Sales off stride 20 yds. down field... right in the middle of the field (only the two of them there).... you could see the collision... had Sales not been able to move through that and the pass gone over his head..... well, don't rely on me... go back and look at the tape. The flag should have been thrown Now... with all that, KState could have gone for a FG late in the 4th qtr. (before their last TD) They chose not to do that and tried a fake instead, which failed. So, if the game was tainted by officials then Syr got justice in the end.

How 'bout some Roy E. Williams in town?
Dr. Trooth replied to BoozeCruise's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roy E Williams? Let me see if I've got it right. Right now the Bills have Steve Johnson, Lee Evans (the only reason why Johnson is putting up numbers), Roscoe Parish, Don Jones, Dave Nelson, Marcus Easley, and Naaman Roosevelt and you would like to add up Roy Williams, a receiver that ain't caught 40 balls in any of the past 4 seasons? I've heard of him.... Brilliant. And, this would be consistent with the Bills MO. Let's not improve the team, let's dumpster dive to fill out the roster. Meanwhile the Bills can't stop the run, nor can they run the ball with any consistency. They have a QB with a below 85 QB rating (the absolute bottom for a championship QB is 85 if you have a killer defense), an offensive line minus two tackles. Oh, now it makes sense.... you must be a Bills fan. How about you just go out and get Roy Williams for your Madden team? -
Stevie Missed the Pro Bowl Cause He Missed "The Catch"
Dr. Trooth replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK... the Bills really aren't 4-11, they're 11-4 and there will be a playoff game next week at the Ralph. I'm astounded that not one Bills player made the pro bowl. That's just wrong. Look, I get it that you can't handle reality and everything must have a smiley face on it or it makes you sad. Well, why don't we just chug on over to namby pamby land and get you some self confidence. Ya jack wagon. Cry baby. Now grow up and go away. -
Stevie Missed the Pro Bowl Cause He Missed "The Catch"
Dr. Trooth replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Stevie consistently draws double coverage and still puts up numbers, then, and only then can he even be considered for the pro bowl. Johnson only got his numbers because Evans was getting all the defensive attention. This team is 4-11 for a reason. Because the players suck. We need to acknowledge that. There is not one player on this Bills team worhty of the pro bowl. Not one. -
Poz is a "hole". You can count the plays he's made behind the line of scrimmage in his Bills career on one hand. He's not very physical, instinctive, or emmotional. Not at all what one would expect as a quarterback of the defense. You want to get better, lose guys like Poz. When you think of inside linebackers, think of guys like Carlos Dansby, Bart Scott, Teddy Bruschi, Ray Lewis... those types. Guys that want to knock the crap out of their opponent, disrupt, and leave a footprint. If those guys are 9s and 10s, Poz is a 3. Why do you want the Bills to bother with that kind of player? He may be great for the community (so make him exec. dir of the local United Way), but not as your starting linebacker.

Well, I'm not going to admit to it. -
Some holes have been filled..for now
Dr. Trooth replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I gave him a 7 at best. So, I won't argue that he's somewhere less than that. I might have lost my flippin mind and got a bit giddy over a Bills QB for throwing more than 20 TDs -
I can assure you Poz is definitely no the best LB in the AFC. So what if we lose Poz. Will that decision make us 33rd in the NFL vs. the run? There might be only 3 or 4 players worth keeping on this defense at the most. In fact, the only sure fire players on this team are Williams (but not at NT), Wood, Levitre, and Evans.

Some holes have been filled..for now
Dr. Trooth replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely not. Obviously, WR is not as great a concern as LT and QB. As Bills fans, we tend to be the ultimate "homers" and think much much higher of Bills players than is deserved. If we step outside that role of a Bills fan and objectively stack some of the players up against the top players in this league, it is really ugly. For example, if one uses a 1-10 scale for players, at QB, if Manning and Brady are a 9 or 10, then what is Fitz?... Best case scenario a 7, maybe? 7's don't win Super Bowls. I regard Fitz as nothing more than a warmed over Kitna or Feidler. Granted, Fitz has jump started the offense, but we're still talking a 4-11 team ranked around #20 on offense. As for Bell... how does he stack up against other LTs? Let's face it, he's not in the same league as Jake Long or Joe Thomas..., definitely not in Da'Brick's class... or even Light's. Not in Oher's class, McNeil's class... and on and on. You might be able to live with a 6.5 LT if you're Manning or Brady because you're so damn good, make quick decisions, and have outstanding accuracy. But a 6.5 LT with a 7 QB is getting you nowhere... exactly where the Bills are. Biggest need, from my perspective, a big fat run stuffing/pocket pushing nose tackle and a lights out pass rusher off the edge. Fat slob NTs can be had in rounds 2 and beyond. Great edge rushers are usually found in rounds 1 & 2. But... mark my word, the Bills will screw it up once again in the draft and overpay for marginal and mediocre free agents that no other team will sign for that amount of money. This team needs a lot of help, and with the potential for Whitner and Posluzney to not be re-signed (which is a very good decision IMO) those holes need to be filled with better players. In fact, there are at least 7 or positions on defense that need quantum leap upgrades for the Bills to even get to a point where you can consider them a viable playoff team. -
Be it an OL, DL, RB... or whatever. No matter who the Bills select with their first pick, he has a an 80% chance of being either a bust or a marginal contributor. One of the problems (besides Ralph) is there are no expectations or accountability of a Bills 1st pick. Aside from Lynch, the last 4 1st picks have not won starting jobs. McKelvin is only a starter when McGee is hurt. Spiller might not be the starter if Fred got hurt, and maybin wouldn't be a starter unless he's the only LB that dresses... and then that might be debateable. If I'm a GM, owner, or HC, I draft a player at #1 because he's worthy of that selection and he can be plugged in as a starter from day one. If there is not a player that I believe is not worhty of being selected where they are slotted, I trade out of that slot and get extra picks and will get value leter in the first rounds and the remaining rounds. The Bills are bad at scouting, bad at selecting, and bad at holding a selection's feet to the fire. That's why they are just plain bad. The owner doesn't give a schitt about wins and losses because The TV contract has already made him profitable... anything else is gravy. So, if the owner is ambivelent about W's and L's, why should anyone that works for his ass give a schitt? That about sums things up.

Spiller haters take a look at some Bills history
Dr. Trooth replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jeez. If you're going to compare him with Juice and Cribbs... two of the best backs in Bills history, why not make it a bigger stretch and include Thomas. Or, why don't we just take a look at Bills Running backs that were taken in the first round and were career utility backs... Miller, Bell, Harmon, McCahee, Lynch. Spiller is in that class. Back to your comparison to Juice and Cribbs. Ahem, both were starters in the very first season and were MAJOR contributors to their offense. Spiller wasn't even a minor contributor... he didn't even get on the field enough to to qualify. If you're a RB, and drafted #9 and don't start, something is not just wrong.... it's extremely wrong. If you don't have even one big game, that speaks volumes. It says to me it was another horrendously poor draft pick by the Bills. -
David Nelson's injury devasted the red zone offense
Dr. Trooth replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pretty sure the far superior Patriots vs. the far inferior Bills is what devastated their red zone defense. Let's not candy coat this Bills team. They suck dreadfully. They are on the cusp of being the 2nd worst team in the NFL. It all depends on how next weekend shakes out. -
Do you realize that Cincy and Denver wins, next week, and a Bills loss will secure the number two pick in the draft for the Bills. Now, I do realize that the Bills will screw that pick up if they do hold it. And, whoever's name is called forn the number two selection will probably be out of the NFL in 3 or 4 years. Or maybe they could trade the pick to the Pats for Gronkowski and help the Pats out more. Anyway, the up side to holding that second selection is that Ralphie has to pony up a gazillion rupies in order to dress the 2nd pick in a Bills uniform. Go Bengals, Go Denver, Go Jets.
