Interesting. How do you measure that? Didn't DJ & Russ make a bunch of the "right moves", or so it seemed at that time? Yanking JP, yanking Whitner in favor of Wilson, going with Fred instead of Marshawn, bringing in TO, Mitchell? Last year the Bills were 4-7 going into week 12. This year, 2-9. I do the math, and that's worse than last year. Every season for the past umpteen years, I keep hearing about next year and how much improved the Bills are going to be. Well, as you well know, next year comes and the Bills still suck. In this league, you must be able to run the football and stop the other team from running the football. The Bills have sucked at both for a few years now. They're 18th running the Ball and 32nd stopping the run. However, from my perspective, the offense is fairly decent, but could use a pair real NFL tackles to make the offense able to run the ball consistently and be playoff calibre. Defensively, this team is way behind in my opinion. They are a starting NT, a starting DE, 4 starting LBs, and an impact SS from being playoff ready. Those many holes don't get filled "next year". I'm not knocking Kyle Williams play at NT. He's a very good player He's just not a space eating NT like the Bills need. Maybe he could play DE, I don't know. But he is not the answer at NT on a fulltime basis and I think he's benefit by lining up next to a real NT, ala Kris Jenkins, Vince Wilfork, Casey Hampton. As for the LBs, they all suck. But, Coleman and Moats might end up being good. The others have had ample seasons in the NFL for anyone to see that they are never going to play at a playoff level in a 3-4 (Kelsay, Poz, Adell, Torbor, Davis).

It's up to 10. And, If you count Veek and Shouman being waived injured, then the real count is 12. And still 5 games to go. Not sure what the Bills ended up with last year, although I seem to think 15. Srange thing... 6 of those guys are LBs... plus Veek = 7. Three WRs and one DE... plus one TE (Shouman), who was the size of a WR. News hasn't been good on McGee either... talking nerve damage... that's stuff that ends careers. The Bills adding a 4th TE to the roster can't be great news for Shawn Nelson either.

What these next few games will tell us
Dr. Trooth replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That and a set of real NFL tackles, a real big fat space eating NFL Nose tackle, a whole set of linebackers and a safety that "enforces". -
Who would have guessed? Perhaps his contract is up soon. Or, perhaps he's been on the field 500 plays more than any other DB in the league. Just a hunch, how many of those tackles were +/- 3 yards of the line of scrimmage? He's been paid way more than he's worth since he's been with the Bills. Alas, he might even get a raise. Bills always pay above market value for mediocre players.

aaron maybin gets first sack against brett favre
Dr. Trooth replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? Well, a sack implies that first a QB must drop back to pass. Why would the Vikings even consider throwing a pass against the Bills? Hell, just run the damn ball 60-70 times against one of the NFLs worst ever run defenses. Peterson hurt you say... not to worry, Gerhart is on his way. The Bills play four down this week you say... ah, yes, but they are a "friendly four". Maybin a sack you say... perhaps he can sack a ball boy simulating a QB in pre game warmups. -
Thank you. I agree. I can think of 4 Nose tackles in Bills recent history. Yes, Williams is better than Jeff Wright, but not as dominant as Smerlas, Ted Washington, or Pat Williams. The biggest reason many of the fans are getting giddy over Kyle is because the Bills suck and it's the only positive news on a Bills player, and thus, giving some attention to BUFFALO on the national level. The Bills are 2-9. They're #32 against the rush. That don't happen against a dominant NT. Even when the Pats lost all their DBs and LBs, they weren't even close to as bad as the Bills D, because they had a dominant NT in Wilfork. Take Wilfork away from the Pats and their D goes down hill fast. Take Kyle Williams out of the Bills lineup, and what? The Bills are still worst against the run. What folks don't realize is, the last few teams that the Bills played gave some kudos to KW. But, earlier, teams like GB, KC, NYJ weren't lamenting how great KW was, they were laughing their asses off cuz how easy it was to move the football on the Bills. KW is a very good player. He ain't an NT. He's a 4-3 DT... he's best suited to play in a D like Philly, Indy, NYG. Who knows... he might even be DE in a 3-4. If you aint got a big fat mountain that takes up space and can't be moved, you ain't got an NT. (I know, the Jay Ratliff crowd is going to tell me otherwise).

That aint what I posted. He's had the best season of any Bills defensive player. So what? The Bills are the worst team (by a long shot) against the run in the NFL. They give up over 165 yds. per game... and Williams is right there in the middle... Nose Tackle, the single most important position for a 3-4 defense. Everything feeds off that position. Geaorge Wilson and Fred Jackson were the Bills defensive and offensive mvps for the Bills last year. Ya know what, neither was starting on opening day. That doesn't mean Williams, Wilson and Jackson aren't good NFL players... but, let's keep it real. They'd only be role players on the top seven or eight teams in the league.

great college QBs do not necessarily transfer well to the pro game... Especially those QBs that work in a spread out of a shotgun. They are basically system QBs. The QBs in college in a spread offense aren't fitting the ball into very small windows like they will have to in the pros. Their receivers are usually wide open. Brees worked in a system very similar to a pro style offense at Purdue with Joe Tiller. Brees has also had the benefit of playin in SanDiego and New Orleans where he really doesn't quite understand the "winds of November and December. If he played in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, NY, Buffalo, NE, GB, Chicago or Philly, I think he'd be a different QB. He'd still be pretty good, but not a top three or four guy like he is now. -
Bills Ticket Account Manager is DOWN
Dr. Trooth replied to DieHardFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what's the big deal. If you want to sell your tix, you're F**ked cuz the Bills suck and no one being of sound mind would buy them. If you want to buy tix, why do that? There are plenty of fans that will give you their tickets. -
Dude... Maybin's a kitty anywhere you line his a$$ up. Offensive linemen, tight ends, running backs toss him around like he's tissue. Do you not think linebackers, defensive linemen and safeties are not only capable, but will roll his a$$ all over the turf. Besides that... he has hands of stone and a heart of possum. We ain't talking "bust" here, we're talking BUST

According to ESPN... Wade ain't at the Cowboys facility. Cowboys have a 4pm presser, but supposedly with Wade there. No surprise. Wade, at best is an interim HC in this league. Jones ain't gonna lure a high profile coach... unless they're just there for the money. Jerry is the defacto head coach and General Manager. Big names like Cowher & Gruden want control... Jerry ain't gonna hand that over. Plan on Jerry bringing in another lap dog. Sound familiar?

Ah, yes.... just what the Bills need, another "jack of all trades", but master of none. Perhaps the Bills can gamble with their 7th rounder. At this stage, the Bills have no margin of error when they draft. They can't draft on potential!!!! They must be spot on. They must draft a producer which can, and will, be plugged in immediately as a starter at the position they play. No more converting corners to safeties, safeties to LB, tackles to guards, etc., etc. A winless team has a lot of holes and they must be able to plug at least 3-4 of next years draft picks in as starters immediately... otherwise, they're going to suck just as much playing with inferior veteran pieces of $chitt, just as they have been for the past several years. Hey, what's the worse thing that could happen to a winless team by playing rookies?... lose another game? Like I said, They can do that with the pieces of $chitt players they have now.

Cowherd's "Uspet of the Week"
Dr. Trooth replied to Roc City Bills Backer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds to me just what the doctor ordered to get the bears running game going. -
UH... get real. Ain't no wishbone offense in the NFL and no team that consistently gets in the mildcat formation for more than a dozen plays. Cam Newton is a running QB. After a few collisions with some NFL LBS and D lineman he will have no game at all.

Is Nix going to get Merriman back on Roids?
Dr. Trooth replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't get it. From where I sit, there is no downside to acquiring Merriman. Suckith or not suckith. Let's get real, the Bills LBs suck. Every damn one of them. Merriman is better than any of them, even if one of his legs were amputated. So, if Merriman sucks, so what? The D is no worse than it is now. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And, what if he stands out and gives the Bills a lift? 8 weeks into the season your only chance at improving the team is getting better with the players you have or getting players that are better than what the Bills have now. And I would consider Merriman the later. There aren't any expectations for the last two pickups, Urbick and Wrotto. They've not really given the Bills any measurable production. There will be expectations with Merriman. The Bills are paying him close to $2m over the rest of the season and he is also auditioning for either the Bills or his next team... and who is to say it will not be the Bills? -
Is Nix going to get Merriman back on Roids?
Dr. Trooth replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK.... But, in a Bills uni, Merriman is clearly the best LB on the team. And, there ain't no LB on the Bills roster that is even a close second to him. Another upside to the Bills claiming Merriman... the Cornell Green experiment is officially "OVUH"!!! -
Damn. I had higher expectations. Hoping more like James Harrison.

A solution for the Bills Defense to help stop the run
Dr. Trooth replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How bout Poz at safety since his strength is tackles 10 yards downfield. Go real big at L B... Kelsay, Dwan Edwards, Spencer Johnson. And, why not Wrotto at tight end?
