answer to real debate: Oline or QB
Dr. Trooth replied to GOBILLS!!!!!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could make a case ither way. Granted... the oline ain't good. Brings to mind when Rob Johnson was the QB and Flutie took over. Everyone was bitchin how bad the oline was... Porky Parker, Ruben Brown, Fina... yada yada. But, Flutie comes in and you noticed the difference right away. Sure he was more mobile, but the big noticable difference was his total awareness and pocket presence. He knew where the rush was, knew when to step up and when to get rid of the ball, or bail. Last year, when Fitz was in you could see a similar difference. Just better awareness and pocket presence... even though he doesn't have a strong arm. Today, plug in Peyton Manning or Drew Brees as the Bills QB and you'd see a huge difference behind the same oline... simply because of their awareness and pocket presence. So... get the QB first... the rest will fall into place. When a team gets a franchise QB, the owner won't tolerate GM and coach that won't protect his investment. The Bills had Kelly before they fortified the oline. There was a lot of incentive to protect him. -
I suspect this means that Brohm is the backup and Edwards #3????

Something has got to give this week!
Dr. Trooth replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Something's got to give this week? OK... The Pats give the Bills 20 points....... and they still lose. -
(And now that we've established that Jimmy was much more a Republican than Democrat, I'd like to point out that he presided over 4 consecutive Buffalo Bills Superbowl seasons! ) I stand corrected. that makes it Dems ruled Buffalo for 16 of the past 60 years, not 12. Jimmy may have been the most entertaining.

First off.. Griffin was a Dem. Second... At least Paladino got his $$$ through legal state contracts. Hypocrite republikers? Nah... Libs aren't... Monserate, Espada, Rangle, Massa... can you say liberal tax sucking thieves? Third... see New Jersey and Gov. Christie. Paladino can do a lot. He can make the legislators lives miserable. He can call out specific names and throw em under the bus, regarless of their political orientation (most have no testicles). If he wants to ram legislation through that they can't get the legislature to pass, he can go through the referendum process and let the public do it. That will certainly end a lot of legislative careers. He can call special sessions at any time, withhold their pay (see Paterson). He could probably call a state of emergency if the fiscal crisis warranted. Hell... he's even said he ain't gonna recognize Shelly Silver as Speaker of the Assembly. That's gonna force the spineless liberal tax suckers to stand up to Silver... we'll see if they have as much a spine as Mike Bragman had a few years ago. I doubt it... the party leaders outside the legislature will probably offer Silver some tax sucking sweet deal to step aside.

Not the way you're thinking. And, I presume you're thinking public money (welfare) to do something with the stadium. That ain't gonna fly with him. He campaigned on cutting spending by 20% and cutting taxes by 10%. Let the Bills build their own stadium if they want a new one. A super Walmart brings in more coin to the area than they do. Paladino probably won't even carry the vote in Buffalo in the govenor's race, If Buffalo's history holds true to form. In the past 60 years they've elected a democratic mayor all but 12 years. 1965 was the last time that Buffalo had a mayor other than a democrat... sort of coinciding with the Bills downturn. I ask the Buffalo community, how's theat worked out for you? The best thing Paladino will do for New York... and Buffalo is take these bastards in Albany to task... stop spending, make NY business friendly... give businesses a reason to move here, and kick the crap out of public unions that suck the money out of the working class. That will bring jobs and prosperity back to NY. But, of course, Barnum said it best. "There's a sucker born every minute". Translation... NY will elect Andrew (Mario Jr.) "Status" Cuomo.

A lot of posters on this board get a "woody" bashing Kelsay all the time. Kelsay is no pro bowler. But, he's no slouch either. Maybe it's because he doesn't have a lot of sacks. Can you name more than a handful of LDEs that do? OK, he's not the perfect DE. But, the fact is he's still a starter for the Bills. He's started for 7 seasons at LDE and missed only 2 games... How many starting DEs can say that? He's on his 4th GM and his 4th head coach, and he's still standing and starting. Are 4 Gms and 4 HCs totally stupid and the bashers smart? Now, Kelsay, in his 8th season is asked to convert to OLB in a 3-4 defense after playing his entire at DE career in a 4-3, and welcomes the challenge. This just in folks, Kelsay is not what's wrong with the Bills. The Bills defense is not what is wrong with the Bills. The special teams are not what is wrong with the Bills. The Bills offense is the single biggest problem the Bills have... in particular, the QB and OTs, in that order. So... if you want to bash a Bills player, why would you pick on Kelsay? There are at least 20 players other than Kelsay that you could shred. 4 GMs and 4 Coaches have liked Kelsay's body of work and his peers elected him captain again. That's fact. Do you think they're all stupid?

HOLY INTERCEPTIONS! BILLS KEEP 10 DBs???
Dr. Trooth replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good catch... thanks for the recount. Me stands corrected. -
What DB are the Bills gonna move. They now have 10 on the active roster plus Corto on the PUP... and could play later this season. Is Whitner, or perhaps McGee, gonna be moved for draft picks or an OL???

Why not Housh? Bills are in Rebuild mode... new coach, staff, young players, switching defenses and different offense...probably finish similar to last year. So... Why bring in a 10 year vet in while in rebuild mode? That would mean the release of someone... Johnson, Jackson, Nelson, Hardy. And even if they were to release Jackson, the other three are young guys that they want to play to get experience (remember, Gailey gets a mulligan this year). If Housh is here, you're bringing him here to play, not to sit... and if he's playing, the other young guys ain't. That just slows their development. Bad idea Bottom line... Go with what you invested time and effort in and let the chips fall where the chips fall. Housh ain't worth spit. He's 32 and an injury waiting to happen. If the Bills are going to bring anyone in, bring in a half way decent left tackle.
-
Shouman goes down again... what a surprise. Ain't a whole lot of 223 lb. TEs that survive in the NFL. Except for Shannon Sharpe... a hall of famer, I don't know of any TEs of that size that have made any impct or held up over the last 10 seasons. You can count the under 240 lb. TEs on half a hand. OK... so, he's a good physical blocker and a good down the seam receiver. But, "hurt don't play at all". He can't take the physical punishment inside at TE... it's been demonstrated ad nauseum. So... I don't have a clue as to why the Bills... 1) Wouldn't give him a shot on the outside as a possession type, blocking receiver... for Christ's sake, Chad Jackson weighs the same and is a coulpe inches shorter. They wouldn't stick Chad at TE, and he has a lower center of gravity for blocking inside. 2) Just out right release him and do some serious shopping for a TE... The Bills have at least one corner and Marshawn to dangle....

In a reg. season game, I don't think you'll have to worry about it... Unless he does something stupid from the bench, he won't cost us a game.

why I am not so worried about LT situation
Dr. Trooth replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they see potential in Bell and Meredith. However, the time is NOW. They both seem injury prone and I'm not sure either will hold up for a full season. Good thing the Bills have Wang. It would not surprise me at all to see all three get starts this year. -
Can't aruge Sully's article much

Ok... what's your argument? What specifically in the column do you take issue with? -

Alas.... "the human mind is not a dignified organ". He's rough, gruff, cold, bold, and above all, brutally honest. He won't piss on your leg and tell you it's raining. But, he will rain on you and piss you off. -
Dude. One would find it hard to believe he would eat there. I can't believe you still make that trip (I guess Taco Bell is a few miles further out for you. But, where the hell else ya gonna eat in Cortland... Snapplebeez, Hairy Tony's, Little Ceasar's. The only upside I can see is that Garcia's is a real quick drive from the SUNY campus. He can get back to the dorm and a toilet quicker.

Jerry Sullivan gave a good summary of the Bills state on offense in today's BN. He states the Bills D looks dominant... but then brings us back to reality that they're, in fact, playing against one of the NFLs worst offenses and offensive lnes. Seems we've been in rebuild mode for a decade. Kinda like building a house that never seems to get finished. Let's just hope that the toughr practices and the constant defensive pressure the defense is heaping on the offense makes the offense a lot better. 6 wins would be a big surprise. Personally, I have a difficult time acknowledging they can put 5 in the W column. New day, hopefully a different team. And hopefully, perhaps give Sully some things to 'take back'. For now, though... not much argument with what he's writing.

ESPN Insider: Inside Bills Running Back Logjam
Dr. Trooth replied to goynahan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was no OT or QB available at #9 that was even close to being worthy of that pick... or one that would make an impact as much as Spiller will. Spiller graded out in the top 5 and was had at #9. Jackson has 1-2 good years left. Lynch is a bum... never was and never will be. Spiller???? Dude... you can't coach 4.2 Come back in two years and tell me what a schitty pick Spiller was. -
ESPN Insider: Inside Bills Running Back Logjam
Dr. Trooth replied to goynahan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it was a great pick.... 1) Jackson's closing in on 30 and is at best a 1200-1300 yd rusher. Solid as hell, but not real dynamic. 2) Lynch is just one incident away from a year long suspension. That is the biggiest single reason. Plus, does he really want to be here? He flat out sucked last year and totaly outplayed by Jackson. So now he's 2nd string behind not a real dynamic back amking first round money. Actually making more money than Fred. 4) Who would have imagined that a free agent rookie would even be considered in the mix. Hindsight is 20-20, plus... Bell hasn't done schitt yet. We'll see what he does when it counts. 5) What if Spiller's close to Tennesee's Johnson in production in a couple of years? -
Any chance of the Bills scrimmaging the Jets?
Dr. Trooth replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
no chance. also... small correction. They are 2 hours apart.
