Evidence that we need a FO overhaul
Dr. Trooth replied to nick in* england's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No... I wouldn't even call it a tune up. What they did is promote a retired scout to GM, a loser OC to HC, a loser COO to VP, and brought in another pro scout to run pro personnel. Mudrack and Overdork are still here. None of these guys have proven anything to deserve the jobs they have. There were much better people still out there that would have done a better job. Ralph won't pay top dollar. It's purely business with him. Winning is number 27 on his list of priorities. I think 77,000 people need to stand up to Ralph stay home next week... and the other 6 games. -
Fan Vision is a new gimmick that Russ Brandon came up with. Its purpose is to prevent the Bills from losing any more premium seat holders. How it works is, they give premium seat season ticket holders a pair of rose colored glasses. After the free agent season and the draft is overwith, they embellish the value of the 3 class B free agents they will invariably sign, and the new draft class. Then, they invite the premium season ticket holders (donning their rose colored glasses) to the first minicamp practice to see what an awsome team it is going to be come September. A 4th round rookie QB will hook up with a 7th round rookie WR into triple coverage (McGee, McKelvin & Byrd defending)for a 95 yard touchdown. There will be dancing in the stands as several thousand premium seat holders "tweet" about what they just witnessed. It will bring national coverage to Buffalo, making the CBS evening news with Katie Couric. This will increase season ticket sales by 70%.

What would you call him? The Bills list him as a LB. NFL.com, an OLB. The point is that it's totally stupid to even consider comparing Witherspoon to Kelsay.
-
What? If the safeties "step up" they'll get beat deep. Can't we just play 4 corners (worked for Dean Smith in the 60's & 70's)
-
Huh? Apples are way better than oranges? Witherspoon is a 4-3 linebacker. Kelsay is a 3-4 linebacker. Witherspoon has never played DE and never been a 3-4 linebacker. Witherspoon has also played for 5 different teams. Can you say journeyman? At linebacker this year, Kelsay has 19 tackles, Witherspoon 17. Kinda like comparing a Camry to Tahoe. So, if you're attempting to make Kelsay look real bad, you failed big time.

Not exactly. That might imply another team has claimed him off waivers. 31 other teams can't be as dumb as the Bills were on this guy. Moats seeing time means that the Bills experiment with Maybin is coming to a conclusion and are running out of options on pass rushers.

Bills sellouts? I thought this was post about Russ Brandon

Signing Levi - Was it our best option ?
Dr. Trooth replied to I hate the Bills !'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't know if it was the best option. But probably the only option. I think Chan is spewing a little bit of BS when he talked about Levi's release. If he felt he wasn't ready to be one of "their three" why didn't he add him to the PS? Why put him on the active roater now if he wasn't even good enough for the PS 3 weeks ago? -
Ravens release their leading Pass Rusher
Dr. Trooth replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude... This is 2010. He ain't their leading pass rusher! He was not even starting. So, you ain't happy with some of the media response to the cutting of Edwards. This ain't even close to equating to the release of Trent... and that's where you were going. -
Wang won't be playing before week 9, if then. He still needs to get full strength back in his surgical repaired hand/wrist.

Like I said. Kelsay's a good player. But, at 30 years old, on a team that is not only rebuilding, but defensively switching back to the 3-4... and Kelsay moving from DE to a LB position for $6M/yr? It might be different if he were 25. Let's get real, he ain't Lance Briggs, Clay Matthews, or Brian Cushing at LB. Those are the dudes that command $6m and are big playmakers. Kelsay is not in their league at that position. If I were the Bills GM, knowing full well that the defense, and in particular the front 7, is in rebuild, I would let Kelsay walk after the season. Again, not because he ain't a good player, simply because the Bills defense is moving in a different direction and needs young talent in that front 7 to get better. And, assuming the Bills progressively improve, it ain't going to be for at least another 3 years they will even challenge for a playoff spot (playoff spots go to teams with a very good QB or killer defense). At that juncture, Kelsay will be 33 and I can't believe that he will ever turn in enough big plays to be valued at $6m. Just my 2 cents.

Are You Kidding Me - Contract Extension for Kelsay
Dr. Trooth replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Kelsay is a good player, but extending him doesn't make a lot od sense and here's where I'm coming from... 1) he's 30 and the Bills are in rebuild mode 2) if they're staying with the 3-4, then we could either get a very good pass rushing LB for $6M or two pretty decent ones for that kind of money 3) I don't think Jason Taylor's getting that kind of money and at OLB he brings a lot more to the table 4) It's $6m that could be spent toward signing a real LT -
God.... please let it go. Collins was given a chance and he sucked. That was the verdict... period. Four different teams and several head coaches agreed that, as an NFL starter, he's quite "suckish"
-
He's a 'big time' college linebacker. Alas, like Andy the 'Big Cat' Katzenmoyer, when he suits up against the pros, he's 'big time' dud.
-
Please God.... hopefully the Bills release the other Edwards now (GEORGE).... and maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea if even the other Edwards (Dwan) followed him out the door. Lit up for 200 yds. on the ground? By the freakin Patriots? That's a capital offense.

We ARE good enough with Fitz

ER, uh.... Poz was a 2nd round pick -
Troup is a 'run stopper'. why would the bills need a run stopper against the Patriots?
-
Tom Modrak Bad uniforms Hey... just sayin.

Caught the daily dose of propaganda from BB.com, as you probably did. Gailey states that the reason Maybin ain't been getting a lot of PT is cuz he needs to learn to play the run. Then goes on to say that he can be a good pass rusher and that it hurts a player when he's one dimensional. What I'd like clarified is ... what is Maybin's "dimension"? It sure ain't pass rushing. He could be a good pass rusher? Hey, if Barack Obama could grow breasts, he'd be the first woman president. If Maybin had been a 5th-7th round pick last year, he might not have even made the PS. And, if he had, he might still be there today. When do you say he's just not worth a roster spot, cut your losses, and stop worrying about protecting somebody's reputation for selecting him in the first round to begin with. That reputation is already shot. What a waste of a perfectly good Bills uniform.

I think Levi Brown's sister, Campbell Brown.

They Can't, nor want to play in Buffalo. And... for your information, Joe Montana was a PENNSYLVANIA BOY.... where real QBs come from. -
First, Edwards gets named the starter, when the majority of the Bills fans knew he was a skirt wearing, brittle, checkdown Sally. For whatever reason, Chan has to know that first hand before he awards Edwards his rightful spot on the team, the pine. Then, last week, out of the blue, Chan starts Lynch at RB against the Packers. Either he wanted to see if Lynch really sucked that bad, or it was an obvious attempt to showcase him for trade bait. Now, Chan, a coach that is supposedly an offensive genius who would ride one back the overwhelming majority of the time, suddenly does a 180 and goes RB by committee. Is this Chan's doing for real? Do zebra's change their stripes to polka dots? Someone at OBD has to be pulling Chan's strings. It's clearly obvious that Fred Jackson is easily the best RB on this team. He runs the ball... it's 4.5, he catches the ball, it's 8.1. Why the "F" make this BS out to be so complicated? Fitzpatrick is clearly the best QB on the Bills roster. It's not even close. However, that ain't saying much because, in reality, Fitz is a career backup. That's how bad the other two QBs on the roster are, and Levi Brown must really suck if he couldn't at least make the PS with the Bills "rosterizing" the other 3 schleps. So Chan dicks around with Edwards at QB for the first two weeks when everyone else knew Edwards was a POS and Fitz should have started from day 1. Now he's dicking around with Lynch in hopes that the Bills can get a 4th rather than a 5th when they send him packing instead of starting Action Jackson. Is it about winning, or is it about figuring out if certain players (that we all know suck) can play? If it's the latter, the Bills will be in perpetual rebuilding. So, is the Edwards/Lynch crap Nix's or Wilson's idea? I certainly don't believe it's all Chan. On top of this, I see at least one other team is playing games too. In Philly Andy Reid tells everyone Kolb is the man, then does a 180 and annoints Vick. So, is he shopping Vick now? What the hell ever happened to starting and riding your best 22 players and let the chips fall where they fall instead of dicking around with all these useless possibilities that go nowhere?

Well, besides the Bills, the Raiders din't think enough of Losman to bring him back. Now, Losman is #3 in Seattle. The problem here is that both Losman and Edwards suck and neither is worthy of even being a number 2 QB for any respectable NFL team. Everyone agrees the Bills should have brought in a QB. The fact is, there were no "franchisers" available to the Bills... and certainly not one that would fill the "Buffalo" model, so why bring in someone for the sake of bringing someone in that ain't gonna do squat? The three best QBs in Bills history (Kemp, Ferguson, Kelly) were gamers, had strong and accurate arms, and were durable. Losman and Edwards each had only one of those three qualities, by any stretch of the imagination. Next year, so far, the only QB I see that has those qualities is Mallet... albeit, I don't know much about Luck's arm strength... and besides... ain't he another California boy? Sat. will be a good barometer for Mallet, going up against Alabama. If he lights them up, he is the man. We'll see if he's a big time gamer, cuz the Tide is gonna bring it. -
answer to real debate: Oline or QB
Dr. Trooth replied to GOBILLS!!!!!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just another comment. If the Oline stinks so bad, then how come Fred Jackson has a career average of 4.5 y/carry? And, why does Lynch have a 4.0 career y/carry? Aren't those are fairly respectable stats? On the other hand... bring a decent and instinctive QB and he should make the players around him better. Too bad that QB ain't on the roster today.
