I thought it was bush league. He could have had that ball stashed (as the equipment guys do all the time for the players) and then handed it to her after the game. No... he had to be a drama queen and run the damn length of the field to ensure everyone knew he had a Cowboy Cheerleader trophy for a chick and get that out on National TV. Next he'll be on the dancing with the narcicists. Whatever happened to humility?

Time to promote Jasper from practice squad
Dr. Trooth replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How's that worked out for them. Both have missed a lot of time in their short careers. Both with issues from the thighs down. The reason you won't see Jasper is because the Bills don't want to chastised for wasting another draft pick. Jasper has physical gifts for such a large dude... he just ain't got the desire to play the game at this level. If he did, the NT job was his for the taking, and he's now on the offensive side of the ball. -
Scrape this 3 - 4 hybrid defense, go back to 4 -3
Dr. Trooth replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills were a 3-4 team from 1979 til Gregg Williams and Donahoser blew it up in 01. What followed is a decade of futility for sure. The Bills don't know whether they are a 3-4 or a 4-3. Buddy ain't got a legit NT nor legit outside LBs to be a 3-4. And, if you think a switch to a 4-3 would be easy at this point... they'd need a DE and two LBs just to field a starting front seven and then you've got no backups. Gonna be an entertaining offseason. -
Dude... the 4-3 would be a great idea when the Bills move to LA. But they are not there. 4-3 's use flyweights at DE and LB and rely on speed. That works in a dome or warm weather venues. But, once November arrives on Lake Erie, wind and a slick track take over... that makes a great 4-3 horrible. On a side note... the top 3 NFL defenses are 3-4s.
-
Stay tuned. I'm all for firing Edwards. He has no business being a DC at this level. And, Wanny has no experience in a 3-4. So, Buddy wants a 3-4 (which is what a cold weather team needs to be) and brings in personnel for that but doesn't have coaches that know the first thing about structuring and running a robust 3-4. But wait... it gets worse. When Edwards gets canned, Wanny takes over. He only knows the 4-3... so he switches to the 4-3... minus the personnel. Buddy looks really stupid right now for allowing Chan to hire a loser DC as Edwards, and even more stupid for thinking that bringing Wanny in would compensate for that. One step forwards 9 steps backward. I'm smelling a third top ten pick in a row for Buddy.

OK... Refs may have made some bad calls or no call at all. However, it doesn't change the fact the the Bills got their asses thoroughly whipped on Sunday. Basically, the NFLs 26th ranked offense layed down almost 350 yards on the NFLs 26th ranked defense... and did it the old fashioned way... just beating them up. The Bills continue to be the Jets B word, until the Bill can demonstrate otherwise.

It ain't a matter of "if", it's "when" the Bills place Kyle on IR, what is their short term plan and longer term plan? Do they bring in a player thatcan play and contrigute right now, or do they just fill a roster spot? What I think we know... 1) Kyle cannot be an everydown NT in the NFL, assuming he can return to form next season. Bills are paying big money for him, so he has to play somewhere, DE? 2) Torrell Troup sucks. When you are drafted in the second round and you ain't contributing significantly, it's time to cut your losses. 3) George Edwards is clueless. He doesn't know WTF defesnse to play... 3-4, 4-3, or 5-2 (what they played against the Skins a week ago). Two years into a supposed transition to the 3-4 and they still don't have a legitimate NT or outside LB. "Lights Out" is done and he ain't comin back. What I think will happen... 1) short term, Bills seem to be thin at OLB. Batten is the only legitimate OLB, although Moats has done time there with so-so results. Kelsay ain't an OLB he's a 4-3 DE and when he has to drop back in coverage it's a disaster. So, my guess an OLB will be added when Kyle goes on IR and be evaluated over the latter part of the season. 2) Best case scenario, the Bills go 4-4 down the stretch and miss the playoffs. 3) George Edwards gets canned at the end of the season and Wanny takes over as the DC. I'm more than OK with canning Edwards... he never should have been hired for the DC position. But, Wanny being promoted means you're looking at going back to the 4-3... tha's all Wanny knows....plus I've never been a fan of Wanny... I don't think he's all he's been made out to be. But, when Edwards gets canned, I don't see the Bills considering anyone but Wanny because I believer the hired him as Asst Head coach and brought him in here specifically because they knew Edwards was way in over his head. 4) With Wanny at the helm as DC, if Kyle comes back next year fully recovered, you'll probably see Darius & Kyle inside, Kelsay at one DE spot and the other either through the draft of free agency... someone with pass rushing skills in the 260 lb. range. You'll probably continue to see Barnett in the middle backed up by Sheppard. The two outside LBs will likely be aquired via free agency and the draft. Basically a continual rebuild The most disappointing thing is, over the past 4-5 years of the Bills consistently ranked in the bottom third on defense (offense too until this season) you'd have thought they would have addressed that by now. But, drafting schmucks like Whitner at #8, then going out on a limb for McCargo, then McKelvin at #11, Troup in the 2nd round, wasting a #13 on Maybin, a #9 on Spliller, and then only one of your draft picks this year is making a significant contribution gives any fan pause that the Bills FO are serious about fielding a competitive team.... just gimmick after gimmick (T.O., Merriman, Spiller to sell a freakin ticket. Personally, I'd like to see both Wanny and Edwards gone and once and for all make the complete swith to the 3-4. Bring in a real 3-4 DC (Man Gina's still out there) and a real NT and a couple of 3-4 OLBs.

been saying it all season...
Dr. Trooth replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I fail to see where the offense is much of a problem. The Bills problems are as clear as Carl Zeiss glass to me, but apparently not to Buddy and Chan. Plain and simple, when your "D" gets lit up and totally dominated by a lower third NFL offense at home, you better know where your problems are. And many will make excuses that the Bills have been without Merriman, Kyle, and some time w/o McGee & Kelsay. Big deal all teams are minus starters. And even with them, the Bills were still a lower third NFL defense. They're not physical, they're not fast, they're not a 3-4, and they're not a 4-3. They don't have a bonafide NFL DC and they have no dominant big man in the middle... and, until they get a real DC that knows the 3-4 and a dominant NT in the 340 lb. range, that can eat up space and muck up an offense, they're just suiting up and hoping it's enough. With a lot of help from the Pats and Jets, the Bills could back themselves into a playoff spot... Heck, 10-6 seems to look like all you'll need to win the AFC east. But, minus the D, in the playoffs, just like today, they will be a total embarrassment. I'm a defense guy. To me that's what wins championships. So, until the Bills D can perform like a top 10 NFL defense, count me in as a "nonbilliever". Offense ain't gonna cut it... although it's been a lot less painful than the last several years. -
It doesn't matter who the Bills put in there on defense, be it Carrington, Darius, Moats, Batten, Shepard. The result is the same... you have a 26th-32nd ranked defense because you have a DC that's way in over his head and an HC that's in love with him

So I bought a ticket for this Sunday's game in Toronto

I've not seen the Budweiser girls... but ya never know, it's Halloween and they could throw in a couple of "corn fed" Bud girls that might appear close to clydesdales. -
Who else is starting to think Kyle Williams
Dr. Trooth replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It ain't looking good for Kyle. I've got a feeling Kyle & Merriman will be out a few weeks as the Bills med staff see if they will improve... and then, if they're not back by week 11, I believe they will be shut down and placed on IR. For Merriman, it is sianara... he's done I believe. You can't pay out that much cash for so little. Bills really need a mountian in the middle too.... a space eater... Kyle is not that guy. Kyle needs to be moved into Dwan Edwards spot. -
Bills Scouts at Oregon-ASU and BYU-Oregon St.
Dr. Trooth replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Word on the street is they are really scouting QB Brock Osweiler. Dude goes 6'8" and he's a very good athlete. A cold weather boy that hails from Montana. He's a Jr., but seems to have nit his stride and having a pretty good season witha 147 qb rating and completing 66% of his passes -
I've got news for you... Moats may or may not tear it up, but he is clearly the best ROLB on the Bills right now. The "lights" have been turned "out" on Mr. Merriman. And, on the other side, Batten is clearly a better option at LOLB than Kelsay. Keeping guys around just because they're nice guys, good effort guys, or good locker room guys is stupid... and with Merriman and Kelsay taking up a combined $10m/yr. cap space, it's totally insane.

Top 10 Reasons Why the Bills Will Choke
Dr. Trooth replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A simple statement such as "I'm not a Billiever" would suffice. There's only one reason they won't go as far as we'd like this season.... one only.... they don't have a big fat 350lb. slob starting at nose tackle. -
Blaming the Defense and Defensive Playcalling
Dr. Trooth replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude. Think about what you posted. Take yourself out of your role as a Bills fan for just a moment and take a look at the facts. Before the game on Sunday against the Bengals, the Bills ranked 26th on defense. So, even before playing the Bengals, the Bills D sucked. The Bengals ranked 26th on offense. That 26th ranked offense, with a rookie QB and rookie wide receiver, dominated the Bills... even though they spotted the Bills 2 TDs off turnovers. They more than doubled the Bills production of first downs and lit up the Bills defense for 458 yards. As a result, the Bills rank 27th on defense. You want to omit the big plays and discount them like they shouldn't count, or didn't happen. This Bills defense sucks every bit as bad as the past two years. Anyone thinking the defensive performance wasn't so bad is dilusional and in denial. Let's not forget the torching they got from the Raiders, sans their TE and top three receivers. Bottom line, go look at the stats... Bills are ranked 27 in total D. That's a fact. That's real. In any sports venue in the world that would clearly constitute that their defense flat out sucks, period, end of story. -
Well, the run was good while it lasted. I saw this one coming. Bils ranked 26th on D, Bengals 3rd. Offensively it was just the opposite. A good defense at home will win that matchup 80 percent of the time. You give up 70 plays and over 450 yards to the 26th ranked offense (plus they spot you 2 TDS off turnovers), you deserve to lose. With a Rookie QB putting it up your tail pipe, it makes it even worse. National sports media is gonna have a field day with this one. The Bills defense is the same ole, same ole. They can't put any pressure on the QB, and they're still mediocre against the run. The first thing the Bills need to do is decide if they're a 3-4 or 4-3. If they're a 3-4, they better get a real nose tackle... a big fat slob that weighs 350 lbs.... in the mold of Wilfork, Ted Washington, Kris Jenkins. Otherwise, they're never going to crack the top 15 defenses. The second thing they need to do is get a real defensive coordinator. George Edwards is in way over his head.
-
Bills are ranked 26th on defense. Bengals are rated 3rd on defense. Bills rank 3rd on offense and the Bengals 26th on offense. Me thinks this game is going to be tougher than most of the fans think. Also... Barnett leads the Bills in tackles. However, after that, the next 5 players with the most tackles are DBs. You've got to go all the way down to seven to find a DL (Darius) ranked seven on the Bills with 7 tackles. Seems to me the front seven had better kick it up a couple of notches. They are putting almost zero pressure on the opposing QBs (save for KC). We may be 3-0, compliments of the offense, thank Fitz and the gang for that, but the D needs to start showing up.

The Top Ten Concerns Bills success could bring
Dr. Trooth replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude... Its all in good fun. As Stevie would say, "why so serious"? -
Be careful what you wish for... 10) Will the Bills look past the Bengals and get beat this week? 9) 75% of teams that go 3-0 make the playoffs. Hmm, remember the last time the Bills were 3-0 ? 8) The more games the Bills win, the higher the ticket prices will be the following season. 7) More wins = more players wanting new contracts & more money. 6) More wins = more fans going to the games. That means more cops on O.T. Can Erie County afford it? 5) More wins means fans will expect more 4) A better Bills team means less criticism. Sully could be out of a job. 3) More Bills wins could lead to the demise of WGR. 2) A better Bills team means lower draft picks 1) A good Bills team will put them on Monday Night Football with that blithering idiot John Gruden The only one I'd have a hard time living with is #1. Gruden is a total ass. Alas, I could turn down the volume and tune into Westwood 1. So... enjoy the Bills run for as long as it lasts. Probably took the late 80's and most of the 90s for granted.

Suck it up. If your friend is really your friend, then why would you disrespect him like that? Or, is he not your friend and are you just mooching free food and drink? Besides, why do you want to put yourself through a hassle just to witness another Brady beatdown?

Are the 2011 Bills really that good
Dr. Trooth replied to Hplarrm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too early to tell how good this team. But, it was encouraging to see a good win on the road. The two things that have me really concerned is ... 1) The defensive secondary made most of the tackles, by far. I don't think the front seven managed more than a handfull of tackles. Something to watch. 2) The lights mave have been turned out on "lights out". From what I saw, he looks like he's got nothing left in the tank. No explosiveness. -

COme on folks, I think we're being a little short sighted here. It ain't the end of the world. That will have to wait until Dec. 21, 2012. The Bills will be 13-0 at that point when a solar catastrophe ends all humanity and dashes the hopes of thousands, maybe millions, of Bills fans around the globe, of the Bills ever reaching the Super Bowl stage again. We need to look at last night's debacle a little differently. Forget that Denver was as equally as suckish as the Bills were last year. Forget that Denver has a new coach, coaching staff, had only three weeks to implement a totally new system, were without two starting defensive linemen, that all three QBs Denver played had great success agianst the Bills, and lastly, forget that the Bills got totally thrashed by a really bad team. I can sum up the Bills performance last night in two words... "ANDREW LUCK" ! However, I did make a few observations last night and would like to share these with my Bills bretheren and sisteren, if I may. 1) All along we've all had the impression the Bills were developing Demitrious Bell to be their starting LT. Not so. After last night it's clear that the Bills coaching staff had loftier goals for Bell. They've been grooming him as a replacement turnstyle for Gate B, should the need arise. 2) Now we know why Rinehart may be slowly taking over for Levitre. Levitre seemed to be struggling at the point of attack and in pass protection, but relax, only in those two areas. We all know Levitre is superior in "space" as Ray Bentley pointed out last night. I smell an offering from NASA for a conditional 4th rounder and perhaps even future considerations. 3) Many fans were disappointed the Bills traded Lee Evans. However, Lee Evans has 4.3 speed. It takes him approximately 6.5 seconds to get 60 yards down field. For a connection of that length to happen between a Bills QB and Evans, the Bills QB would have to relase that pass within 3 seconds of the snap. No way can the Bills offensive line protect for that long. Thus, Evans was expendable and Buddy made a great move. Who needs a deep threat anyway? 4) I know the thought of having lost Whitner, Stroud, Poz, Youboty, and Ellison really had a lot of us totally bummed out. How the hell are the Bills gonna defend without these guys. Well, you watched the same game as I did last night. The Bills ranked 24th on defense last year. I'm happy to report that the Bills can easily match that without those 5 guys I mentioned. So, again, relax. The Bills saved money and the "D" won't miss a beat. 5) I thought Spiller was very impressive last night. Very impressive. His comments to Mike Catalana on the sidelines during the TV broadcast were impressive as well. "If Denver wants to get chippy we can too. Nobody respect us. Well we show em we can be chippy". Broncos 24, Bills 10. That'll show em. He might not be the next Tom Brokaw, but I believe C.J. has a bright future on "Dancing with the Stars". 6) I was puzzled that I didn't see Jasper in the lineup. But then it came to me overnight in a dream. They don't want to show how good he is because they're gonna have to cut him in order to sneak him onto the practice squad. With Jasper on the practice squad he will be used on the scout team and replicate Vince Wilfork, Haloti Ngata, Casey Hampton, B.J. Raji etc. This way, the Bills offensive line will be able to handle defensive linemaen like that with ease. Buddy, always two steps ahead of the other GMs. Keep your chins up folks. Kepp your eyes on the prize... "Andrew Luck"
-
Oh, he's big enough to play in the NFL. Guys a lot smaller than him have lit it up.... Lionel James, Leon Washington.... What we hvae here with Spiller is Ronnie Harmon Jr. He likes the dges and catching the ball out of the backfield. But asking him to hit the hole up the middle???? From what I've seen, he looks too much like a kitty to to that. I'll admit though, I was OK with the Bills selecting him at #9 last year. However, I thought he was more like Ladanian Tomlinson. Man, was I way wrong. Running back is the only position that you can plug in a rookie and make it work. Usually, running backs drafted that high have a pretty decent rookie season, and if they don't, they ain't ever gonna get much better. Come on CJ, make me eat my words.
