  1. I don't think so. If Alex Smith or Joe Fiasco beat you, then, you deserve to lose.
  2. So, what's the problem? You have to play whoever is on your schedule. This is the NFL. If you're worried about who your playing, get better, be better.
  3. Jerry would tell it like it is. Look at the Bills organization over the past 12 years and tell me what Jerry ever printed that was not true. The folks that can't handle Jerry are the same kind of people that can't handle being told their kid is a brat when their kid is a brat. They're in denial.
  4. serioulsy "boring". Alex Smith vs. Joe Fiasco.
  5. If the draft is "deep", then what would be the motivation for a team at , say 22, wanting to trade up to #10. In a deep draft they, essentially, swap #1s and give up two other picks.... again, in a "deep draft". It ain't making sense to me unless #10 is a freaking lights out super star. And, if that's the case, why the hell would there be any suggestion of trading down?
  6. What new contract?
  7. Well then, one could say you have a great ability to overvalue and overestimate. If the season started today, the Bills starting wideouts would likely be Donald Jones & David Nelson, Brock the srating TE, and Hairston the LOT. There would still be no pass rush. So, basically you are assuming the Bills sign or draft a #1 receiver, competent LOT, TE, OLBs & DEs. If you're saying 10-6 next season, 8-8 is much closer to reality(7-9). This team is not a "GOOD" team by any stretch of the imagination... unless of course, in your world, you're OK with "barely adequate".
  8. The pick @ #10 does not matter who, or what position. What matters is that pick must come in from day one, play and make an immediate difference. At least, that's my stance and that's what will satisfy me.
  9. Dudes. Yawn. Nothing like going out on limb. It was a no brainer and I told you so... way back in the middle of the season. Everyone knew Edwards was a goner. But, I cautioned everyone then that it would mean Wanny taking over and a switch back to the 43. And, that's how it's gonna be. The whole thing is a disaster and pretty much gives one a glimpse into the incompetence inside OBD. 3/4 of the moves over the past three off seasons, in terms of free agency and the draft, on defense must now be pretty much wasted and starting over from square one.
  10. He was busted 4 months ago. The indictment was handed down today.
  11. yeah, how will that work. Anyone cite me an a example of success. It can't work. Can't have it both ways. You can't play either at a high level. How do you staff a defense? At least if you're one or the other, you can staff it with players that provide depth. When you run a hybrid, how do you provide depth? If you lose one of your star 3-4 linebackers, what do you do, carry a 3-4 linebacker or a 4-3 linebacker, or, do you carry a 4-3 DE? How do you draft, and what do you tell free agents? What players can play at a high level in both?
  12. No... they can't. Leopards can't change the fact they are spotted LeBeau, Phillips, Capers, Mangini are 3-4 gurus. They've never run a 4-3 and never will. Likewise, Williams, Wanny, Spagnuola, Zimmer, Campo are 4-3 guys and know only the 4-3. And, if you think otherwise, name me one single caoch that has coordinated both a 4-3 and a 3-4, same team or different teams with any success. All coaches may hve knowledge of all systems, but they only have expertise in one. West coast OCs ain't gonna be able to run an offense with a power running game with any success either.
  13. Well, there's about 25 years of evidence that shows only 43 and nothing else. Unless you consider him being mentored for one season under George Edwards in 34 one o nothing. That's a scary thought.
  14. No. But, you must have killer ganha.
  15. can't disagree with you there. thank god he's a mere QB coach.
  16. Yeah... and where's the pash rush. When will folks get it in their heads that Wanny's the new defensive sherrif in town? That's code for the ship has sailed on the 3-4. Wanny has never run anything other than a 4-3 and doesn't know anything else.
  17. Diver is 37 frickin years old in a couple of weeks. Why do you want that kind of dude on a team that's 3 years from the playoffs? If the Bills were on the cusp of the SB, you can see brining in a guy for a year, maybe. But, why take reps away from a younger receiver on a rebuilding team?
  18. From what I've read, Mercillus seems to be in the upper tier. Problem is, unless the Bills were to make a big splash in FA, that #10 pick, whoever it is, must be plugged in as a starter from day 1 and contribute signficantly. I mean, WTF? We're talking a 6-10 team here, not a 10-6 team. Play em now or don't draft em.
  19. I'd bet both of my nutz on it. Wanny don't know spit about a 3-4. His only history is of running 4-3 schemes. And, if they were going to stay with a 3-4, why wouldn't they bring in a DC familiar with the 3-4?
  20. What is a "franchise QB", Where do they come from, and how do you measure whether or not they are a franchise QB? Are they all 1st rounders, top ten picks? or can they be Arena League/Canadian League dropouts? Some would gauge a franchise QB by the number of "W"s, some by their QB rating, some by the number of rings. Some facts... The last 12 Super Bowls (2000-2011) * 16 different QBs (11 active in 2011) * 7 of the 16 were not 1st round draft picks * QBs in the last 12 SB matchups ranged in QB rating from 73.9 - 109.6 Warner (3) 109.2, 101.4, 96.9 Brady (4) 86.5, 85.9, 92.6, 117.2 McNair 78.6 Dilfer 76.6 Collins 83.1 Johnson 92.9 Gannon 97.3 Delhomme 80.6 McNabb 104.7 Hasselbeck 98.2 P.Manning (2) 101.0 Grossman 73.9 Rodgers 101.2 Roethlisberger (3) 98.6, 80.1, 97.0 Brees 109.6 E.Manning 73.9 * 6 of 12 winning QBs in the past 12 SBs were non first rounders. * 12 QBs in 2012 playoffs, 5 were not 1st round picks * 4 teams left in the playoffs in 2012, only 1 was not a first rd. pick * 32 QBs have been drafted in the 1st rd. since the 2000 NFL draft. 24 have not played in a SB. * 15 of 32 QBs drafted in 1st rd. since 2000 started at least 1 game in 2012 * 19 QBs were drafted in the top ten since 2000, only 2 have started in a SB, 2 are out of the league, 5 are backups, and 6 do not play for the team that drafted them. So, what do these numbers mean? I ain't got a frickin clue. And, 4 of the 1st round picks that started in a SB since 2000 had worse QB ratings than Fitz, and 2 of them were the winning QB. I think it has a lot to do with defense. Do Dilfer & Roethlisberger win without their defenses? Same for Brad Jouhnson, Brady, and Eli Manning. QBs that can put the entire team on their shoulders are rare. And even then, they need luck drawing the right matchup in the playoffs and SuperBowl and their defenses playing better than they normally do?
  21. Levi Brown (not the QB dude) and Pierre Garcon.
  22. I don't know hy folks might be awaiting an "anouncement" that they will be going 4-3. I think it is a big mistake going backward to the 4-3 since they've made the decision and initial investment of a 2 year transition to the 3-4. The players drafted or brought in the past two years were acquired specifically with the plan that they would be key gogs in a 3-4 defense (Troup, Carrington, Batten, Moats, Edwards, Torbor, Davis, Merriman. Enough on that, though... back to whether or not they will be a 4-3. When Wanny was named DC a couple weeks ago, that was your first clue that the Bills are now a 4-3. They indeed are. Wanny has absolutely no experience running a 3-4. His entire career was as a 4-3 guru. Second clue... in Nix's presser, he was asked whether there would be a switch to the 4-3. His answer? Well, ya know, when I reviewed all of the game tape, we played 4-3 47% of the time". Decoded, "I really did a bad job in getting the right DC and the right players in here to running the 3-4". So, all this time, the 5-2 front the Bills had been running, wasn't really that, it was a thinnly veiled 4-3. So. Some folks may be confused and could be waiting for some sort of official announcement. But, I'll clear it up for them and go on record now... the Bills are a 4-3.
  23. Yes... the better option would be to go and get a tackle better and more dependable than Bell. That should be quite easy. The Bills only need to be committed to doing that.
  24. Actually, the Bills have only one 4-3 DE and 7 DTs > 300 lbs. Kelsay is the only 4-3 DE. Merriman is finished.... the experiment is over, time to get over him and move on. By my count, the Bills need to bring in at least six 4-3 DEs to, essentially, audition for 3 jobs... fulltime starter at RDE and a backup, and a near ready LDE to backup Kelsay for a year or two and take over fulltime after that. So, 3 of the 7 DTs on the roster will likely be gone in this next dismantling of the defense.... unless of course, they jump on the Jenny Craig train and lose between 35-55 lbs. and can come off the edge lightning fast. Of course the defense will need 3-4 outside LBs that can play in the 4-3 and drop in coverage. Another year of this hybrid thing will bring yet another season of futility. The final piece of the Bills puzzle on defense is instilling, or infusing, a megadose of manhood. The defense has played like a bunch of pansies the last few years, showing no inclination to get physical. I want to see high value personal fouls, not stupid ones. Ones that put players out of the game. If you're gonna get flagged and fined, get your frickin money's worth. Chan Gailey's mantra is "this is a physical game for physical people". How many damn times do we have to hear htat repeated in videos? Well, Chan, put up or forever STFU.
  25. Never heard of him. What do you think?
