  1. next thing you're going to be telling me is that rice-a-roni is the actually the santa clara treat.
  2. stop being such a fatalist. the niners are as much a part of that community as an it's it.
  3. Twenty years ago I got an ice cream sundae from dairy queen. It was served in a mini mets helmet. Wonder if they still do that.
  4. yeah, i'm not buying his whole celibate schtick either: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1015872-tim-tebow-girlfriend-recapping-the-latest-rumors-of-golden-boys-love-life
  5. this is probably the single best post i've ever read. it perfectly crystallizes the unhealthy obsession most of us have with this team.
  6. this is actually very true. dwc contrasted himself with clowney by referring to himself as a nobody. it then logically follows that he considers clowney to be a "somebody." i was the one who said that clowney is barely a nobody and i stand by it. both defensewinzchampionshipz and drdareustein are both more "somebodies" than clowney in my book simply due to familiarity. i've seen their posts here before and i know they like the bills. when i see dfc's avatar i think, "this guy must really like madden. i wonder how much he plays?" when i see drdareustein's name it makes me think about dr. frankenstein. compare this with clowney, who i don't think i've ever seen play in my life and haven't even really thought about until today. in this way he's more a nobody than they are. again, that's just my opinion. regardless, please don't continue arguing with each other. it's very upsetting.
  7. i came here to praise clowney, not bury him. the simplicity of his tweet belies its deliberate ambiguity and astonishing complexity. to some it's a sigh of relief after a prolonged period of promiscuity: "i don't have hiv no matter how much i dog!" to others it's a call to awareness: "get tested regularly, friends!" and yet to others it displays a confused, almost child-like understanding of sexual disease transmission: "god protected me from hiv!" regardless, i celebrate the guy. he managed to craft a tweet that allows the reader to see in it what he/she wants. and perhaps how you interpret the message says more about you than about clowney. sometimes we stare into the vastness of twitter only to see our own reflection staring back.
  8. don't put yourself down, defensewinzchampionshipz. i would argue that clowney is only slightly less of a nobody than you. this guy could probably walk into my living room fully uniformed and helmeted while reviewing the playbook and being interviewed by chris brown and i would still assume he was just some loser fan.
  9. god should switch her focus from clowney's hiv prevention to stevie's touchdown receptions.
  10. 4. we will lose the moral high ground when complaining that there's little to no national attention paid to the bills.
  11. totally agree. his horse probably just got skittish and bucked him out of it.
  12. this is exactly my point. by your own admission, you understood the risks when you took the job because they were quick to let you know the possibilities. you knew you might get hurt, but were ok with it. with cigarettes, you knew the health risks, yet chose to keep on smoking. the nfl has never done this -- and, in fact has done the opposite by denying the connection between prolonged contact to the head and depression, suicide, etc. again, i agree with you regarding the physical injuries. they're to be expected. i just don't think that the players signed on for the long term, debilitating mental injuries.
  13. i love john clayton's reporting when he's reporting what i want him to report.
  14. a "possibility of injury" isn't accurate. guys who are in their forties and fifties have the brains of eighty year olds. growing up, i assumed that players probably would suffer from certain physical maladies after their careers ended -- busted knees, bad backs, etc. i had not clue about the mental damage done to these guys, reinforced by the nfl's repeated denials about the risk. playing a sport for a living isn't an "opt-in" for early onset alzheimers, depression, suicidal tendencies, etc. just because they make a lot of money (today) doesn't mean we shouldn't feel any sympathy for the difficulties they experience after they've been cut from the team and we no longer care.
  15. that was both the dumbest and greatest video ever.
  16. i think that's the oregonian who heimliched that dude the week of the rose bowl. dude didn't fully masticate his beef.
  17. was that the one where those tweener punks dogged trent edwards?
  18. please, son.
  19. i can't believe they cut away to commercial just before our pick AGAIN!!! if it was the pats or jets you can bet that wouldn't happen! screw espn and nfl network! :censored:
  20. i just graduated from that grade last year.
  21. what grade are you in now?
  22. as long as there are cheeseburgers in s.f. and phoenix, the bills will be fine.
  23. i've only been a couple of times since i have the ticket. probably for the best considering how emotional i get during games.
  24. i've got enough room for two at my place. the sofa is ok, but the futon is a tad uncomfortable. i'm just off of pico and la cienaga -- right near a bank of america and el pollo loco if they need to do some banking and/or have a chicken craving.
