  1. Van Pelt already fired too: https://www.audacy.com/weei/sports/patriots/patriots-fire-oc-alex-van-pelt-after-one-season
  2. As a Bills fan, my first thought was tough break for the Doughboy. Odds are he's out of a job too.
  3. They switched off the Giants game to Bills @ NE. I can't remember the Giants getting kicked off home TV in Albany before. 506 UPDATES: Hartford CT: NYG-PHI to BUF-NE (Fri) Pittsburgh PA: BUF-NE to NYG-PHI (Thu) Albany, Utica and Binghamton NY: NYG-PHI to BUF-NE (Thu) Cedar Rapids IA: CAR-ATL to BUF-NE (Thu) Johnson City TN: HOU-TN to CAR-ATL (Thu) Lake Charles LA: CAR-ATL to HOU-TN (Thu) https://506sports.com/
  4. I wouldn't count on these picks. The Bills signed free agents too. The SI writer seems to have forgotten the Bills FA signings & is only looking at the Bills FA losses.
  5. The only reason the Bills have never won 14 games is that Marv was smart enough to save his players for the playoffs & lost the season finales in 1990 & 1991 after going 13-2 through 15 games. Considering there is an extra game, Sunday is as meaningless as it gets. I'll go with Marv's methodology.
  6. White is definitely 1 of the 2.
  7. If he is one of the 2 PS call-ups he can play any time as long as he's designated as active for the game.
  8. The 1997 Falcons are a bad example. They lost the season finale after a winning streak. We're talking about teams with bad records hurting their chances of a top 5 pick late in the season, not an up & coming team that got hot mid-season & was 7-8 going into the season finale. When the team sucked, I looked big picture because there was nothing going well with the present team & odds were there were going to be wholesale changes before the next season, so there was nothing to carryover. Before 2018, the last time the Bills had meaningful late games with a team out of the playoffs was 1987, when the team was trying to build around Jim Kelly and what turned out to be a bunch of HOFers. Even though they lost the season finale in Philadelphia, it was important for them to gain some momentum for 1988. During the drought years all it was, was a bunch of meaningless games at the end because the roster just simply wasn't good enough & there was no QB to build around with. You can always find an example where late season wins are more important than draft position on an up & coming team, but most of the time the bad team isn't going anywhere unless they can get some better talent.
  9. The Giants originally chose DeVito over Lock to save money: https://www.si.com/nfl/giants/big-blue-plus/why-giants-went-with-tommy-devito-over-drew-lock-at-quarterback-01jd02j6txaf Had Lock been named the starter, there would have been little chance of him earning the full $3 million in incentives at this point in the season. But with seven games to go, there was a good chance of him picking up at least a third of those incentives, which would not have been good news for a cash-strapped Giants team.
  10. Those meaningless wins you rooted for really built great momentum during the drought years. I can't think of one Bills team where the momentum carried over post- Kelly & pre-Allen. The only time those games matter is when a team is developing a franchise QB. No doubt the 2018 season finale was important as it began Josh Allen's domination of the Dolphins, but from 2012 to 2014 the Bills either won the season finale or the game right before the season finale. Each time the Bills had a new starting QB the following year: Fitzpatrick 2012, Manuel 2013; Manuel 2013, Orton 2014; Orton 2014, Taylor 2015. When your team is on a QB carousel, there's no such thing as building momentum for next year, when you'll have a new QB.
  11. Mac Jones boosted the Patriots % and the only way he should be a pro bowler is if he gives up football and spends hours practicing at the lanes.
  12. Elam should be out there every down next week vs NE.
  13. It will be interesting to see what happens in Minnesota. Does JJ McCarthy get traded like Trent Green with the Rams after Warner took his job? If the Vikings re-sign Darnold they may be looking to trade McCarthy. If the Giants can't get Sanders or Ward, do they trade for McCarthy by either giving this year's 2nd and another pick, or trading next year's #1?
  14. I remember the debates in the drought years. There were plenty of fans advocating that in order to be a true fan you have to root for wins even if they're at the end of the season, are meaningless & cost the team draft position. I and with my fellow tank the end of the season games fans, were brutally flamed by those "root for wins every game" advocates. It now appears that many Giants fans understand that as a fan you can root for losses. I always said that fans who are rooting for meaningless wins are blurring the lines between team employees, who have to try to win, and fans, who have no such obligation. My rational was, as a fan, I can look at the big picture and want the better chance to draft an impact player-especially if the team needs a QB. I would say I was here before the players, coaches & GMs before they got here & I'll be here afterwards (although that may no longer be true at my age). So, I'll be rooting for the Bills to out-tank NE & cost them the #1 pick. I'll certainly be rooting for NE next Sunday, even if I'm watching with my Josh Allen jersey on.
  15. When are DBs going to learn to knock it down on 4th down? Kurt agreed with me on the broadcast.
  16. How many times are these guys going to say what a great coach Harbaugh is? After Staley, anyone could have improved the Chargers, maybe even Dick Jauron.
  17. He had the option of not signing a 2nd contract with the Bengals & signed it. So I doubt he had any interest of not signing with his home-state team out of college. If he gets really disgruntled & Mike Brown wants to punish him, he can trade him to the Browns, then Burrow will find out what real disfunction is.
  18. The Ozzie talk reminds me of how bad Buddy Nix was as GM. Ozzie retires & leaves by drafting Lamar Jackson, Buddy retires & leaves by drafting EJ Manuel.
  19. Daboll for developing Allen. Wade.
  20. FO yes, coaches no. In the Tyrod example, Pegula decided to bench Tyrod & fired the coach. What I don't know is if Rex wanted to start Tyrod and if that led to his immediate firing.
  21. Neither the Jets nor the Patriots will be tanking. The Jets are more likely to lose their last 2 than the Patriots because in the season finale, THE BILLS, will be de facto tanking by resting the starters. We might even see Frank Gore Jr getting carries at RB. The most interesting tank will be the Giants/Eagles finale. Will the Eagles, who appear to be locked into their playoff spot, tank the final game in an attempt to hurt the Giants draft spot? Awfully tempting to keep a division rival from getting a QB who could haunt them for years.
  22. Get Gregg Williams for $50 & he'll tell the groom he'll put a bounty on him if he cheats.
  23. FM. The game is bad enough without having to watch it. Ryan Leaf is the color guy on the radio broadcast.
  24. My radio feed on a local station is coming in fine.
  25. Now the people who bet Houston are crying.
