Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

Informed voters will not vote for: green new deal, free college, free healthcare, free childcare, reparations, minimizing the white man, abortion anytime anywhere, outlawing guns, legalizing pot, 70% taxation and universal basic income in large enough numbers to prevail in the electoral college. Trump who is no doubt a flawed candidate looks like the adult in the room in comparison to the current dem platform. I always say the party in control always ***** up, but in this case the left may screw the pooch before they even regain control. -

Good numbers. That info will create overconfidence for the Dem nominee and will motivate Trump to work very hard in his campaign. -
The Deep State War Heats Up

Could just be the run up to the anti-climactic Mueller report. The left needs to cover that alone. I certainly hope that Trump's DOJ under Barr will prosecute where appropriate those involved in the 2016 shenanigans. As a nation we cannot let that go unresolved. It's the only way to curb bad Washington behavior for at least a short period of time. Otherwise it's a strong business as usual signal. -

So if he is a Senate candidate in 2024 and wins, he'll be almost 90 years old at the end of his term. -

Yes and about an hour after eating a quart of french onion soup. -
But people will get high and drive and injure and kill some people and it will happen more if it's legalized.
-
I think a lot of people would like the freedom to drive as fast as they want any time anywhere and would be willing to pay a tax for that privilege. Should we do that too? Sure a few more people will die and there will be some extra cost to administer that right, but shouldn't we consider it in the name of freedom?
-
I think you just made the case against weed legalization.
-
How is society enhanced by legalization of marijuana? Will highway traffic deaths rise? Will law enforcement costs rise? Will use of other more dangerous drugs also rise? Are there health risks for long term use and what will that cost both users and non-users? Will academic and work performance fall? Don't give me the alcohol argument. I'm interested in knowing if legalizing this is a net negative or net positive for our society.

You're clueless. Obama didn't enact new environmental regs on day 1 of his presidency (2009) that went into effect immediately that retroactively reduced our emissions, but he is due some credit for continuing the march toward lower pollution/emissions like some of his predecessors. This has been a steady process for much longer. Our country both at a Federal and state level has been continually tightening environmental laws for decades. Remember the acid rain issue? Remember California smog? Trump's admin on fuel economy has simply proposed slowing the increased fuel econ regs. That reg for cars increases from 34.5MPG in 2016 to 41+ in 2020 and they've suggested flattening the requirement for a few years at that point. Obama the car guru arbitrarily set it at 54.5 for 2025 and the industry expressed concern in that large an increase in only 9 years, which is a real challenge in terms of R&D costs and the time to comply. Trump's adjustments seem like a fair compromise involving government and the industry responsible for compliance. Care to wager that emissions will show further reductions under Trump?

The left and most media wants us to believe that we are a society on a wreckless path of spiraling pollution when the exact opposite is true. The U.S. is the nation that has reduced carbon emissions the most in recent years. Rarely is this reported. https://www.forbes.com/sites/simonlack/2018/08/23/guess-whos-most-effective-at-combating-global-warming/#6b9064e25cdb All of the car companies are investing hugely to develop electric cars and fuel economy regulations are requiring more fuel efficient vehicles. Power plants are continually becoming cleaner and solar power sources are proliferating as that technology becomes more cost effective. We are already on the path to cleaner water, air and lower CO2 emissions and have been for decades and it's happening without an overly burdensome impact on taxation and energy cost. Why not stay the course? The Green New Deal is a political pipe dream not supported by any reasonable math. Republican pols though are not able or willing thus far to articulate the facts to the public or to offer a reasonable approach that continues the progress. Democrat pols are not interested in the facts and simply seek to demagogue and capitalize on an uninformed public with a plan that is ridiculous and has zero chance of being enacted.

Yeah most likely because she's already getting the cold shoulder from the DNC. -
Have seen him twice in recent years, the most recent 2017. He and the band play great and his vocals are still solid. There are a few songs he probably doesn't do any longer due to less range in his voice but he's still quite good. Worth it.

Because it's in the Miami Dolphin's back yard. His defense will be he didn't pay for sexual acts. He paid for the right to walk away from the woman when done with no strings attached.
