  1. Good young man with a great story. Hope he keeps working on his craft and lands a roster spot on another team. Wish him the best.
  2. Are you sure you're paying $1.16 per KwH? Our rates are about 10% of that. Here they are. Customer Class 2019 Rates Monthly Customer Charge Energy Charge (kWh) Demand Charge (kWd) Average Monthly Electric Bill Residential Average kWh = 844 $15.60 $0.1112 N/A $109.48 Other considerations regarding fully electric vehicles... It's likely that long term maintenance costs will be lower for electric vehicles as they have fewer systems or simpler systems. Battery replacement currently though is very expensive. Oil while abundant in supply is a finite resource. At some point in the future we'll need to reduce dependence. There will be plenty of future development done to improve battery technology, motors and drives and electric delivery (recharge) systems. The internal combustion engine is light years more powerful and efficient than it was years ago. I'm dead against the government pushing and subsidizing electric vehicles but as the marketplace becomes more accepting and technology improves, let the evolution continue at its own sensible pace.
  3. Are we this shallow as an electorate that the color of a spouse is given any weight at all?
  4. Called into the Marv Levy show once. Asked Marv about his decision to punt on a 4th down and 2 or 3 when inside the other team's 40 when trailing on scoreboard in 3rd quarter or so. He explained that the league average going for it at that distance was something like only 30% success. I pointed out that a punt into end zone was worth less than 20 yards and he politely again defended his decision. Next game the Bills were in a very similar situation and decided to go for it. Could it be? Nah.
  5. Finally we settled with tenant. Spent $30K on litigation, collected $29K and not a dime of the rent due. Was it worth it? Hell yes. On principle we made the guy's life hell for a stretch of it. Great story with lots of twists and turns. He finally settled once I pulled his attorney and mine into a room at court and I told the other side (in rather terse terms) I would spend whatever it took to prevail. He had signed a personal guaranty that had teeth. The next day we succeeded in freezing some funds that his in-laws had loaned him and his wife that were briefly on deposit at his bank. I probably owe his wife a thank you who I'm sure let him have it once that happened.
  6. Yeah "you guys" do some of that but some litigation I was involved in last year (as a plaintiff) convinced me that even a very good attorney interested in an efficient and timely outcome can easily be stifled. After 11 court appearances in a 13 month span regarding a deadbeat commercial tenant it became very apparent that this judge in most of the cases she heard was quite happy to continue pushing matters into the next month over and over again. Watching as an outsider how Washington handles federal inquiries and prosecutions looks all too similar.
  7. The largest impediment to justice is the very slow moving justice system filled with attorneys and judges who are comfortable with the very slow pace at which it operates.
  8. Harry Reid, not dead yet but he's a victim. Typical lib, someone else's fault, no personal responsibility. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/former-sen-harry-reid-says-exercise-device-injury-caused-early-retirement
  9. What a *****-show this has become.
  10. Well there certainly is an awful lot she can't recall and she wasn't at all curious about the purpose of her own work.
  11. Holder was always better at saying what Obama was thinking than Obama.
  12. Is he running for President now?
  13. They are competing for admissions by adding campus features. I'm sorry if I was talking about Purdue University when a couple of you were posting about Perdue the chicken company.
  14. Indiana is a fairly well run state and a tour of Purdue reflects what's in the article. It's a state school, a darned good one and unlike so many other midwest schools (I visited more than 12 schools when my 3 kids were looking for a college to attend) the buildings and facilities on campus are more modest. So many universities public and private are doing endless construction investing many millions in housing, sports complexes, recreational centers, etc... Gorgeous facilities all to compete with other schools in the region. Students could do just fine with a lot less. Many parents are willing to pay whatever it costs to send their kids to certain schools so that they can peacock among their friends. Illinois has about the highest in-state college costs in the country, no surprise there. University of Illinois for a year of tuition, other fees and room/board costs about $30K per year for in-state students.
  15. "They" (Comey) didn't make his announcement that there was a late development in the Hillary email thing to help Trump. He did it because he had an obligation to inform congress if the "matter" was re-opened. He could have informed congress privately but for sure Republicans would have announced or leaked it. Comey chose to make his letter to Congress in October public for any number of reasons. He may have felt that he owed it to the public after his big announcement in July. He should have kept his mouth shut in July for a number of reasons. He may have wanted the October announcement done publicly so that it wasn't filtered/exaggerated by Republicans in Congress who surely would have went public with it. Or it could be he's an attention ***** and wanted to once again be in the public eye. Hillary and her supporters don't like that she got thrown under the bus regarding her emails. She's fortunate she wasn't charged. To her I'd say you dumbass, you shouldn't have done what you did. Trump in a similar time frame got hammered for his "grab them in the kitty" comments. He could benefit from the same advice because the dumbass shouldn't have said it. Both candidates had plenty of mud slung their way during the campaign. Trump persevered, campaigned much harder electorally and he won. He won ugly but he earned it.
  16. There is zero chance that a medicare for all type health insurance becomes law in this country anytime soon. Zero. A majority of lawmakers won't have the stones to vote for it, but that won't prevent your side from running on it and not being able to actually get it done.
  17. They won't need more than a wheelchair.
  18. My comment was not at all limited to your remarks regarding Barr/Mueller report. The comment was based on your entire body of work around here.
  19. You remind me of a guy I once fired for stealing from the company who continually denied his involvement in the escapade even after seeing his own emails to and from the other involved party. He even confirmed the emails were real and his yet denied that it could be true. After 3-4 attempts of hitting him with logic, facts and his own words he remained in denial. It was breathtaking.
  20. Well, that's gonna make it tough for the landlord of his law office to collect the back rent due from Avenatti.
  21. That will take too much time and the media will trash the effort as political revenge. As for Hillary, Trump admin should simply expose in a detailed report how the Obama FBI and DOJ let her off the hook on the email server thing. Then Trump should offer to pardon her. As for DOJ/FBI handling of Trump campaign surveillance and attempted coup, go after that with prosecutions and more firings.
  22. A poll was shown last night on one of the networks where 42% of Americans believed that Trump colluded with Russians to alter 2016 election results. The poll was from about a week ago. This is indication of how much the media shapes public opinion and how much power they wield in our society (and how pollsters do same). The media clearly is not interested in fair reporting of "news" so we should expect them to continue to behave as they have been. There's no downside as they can still maintain viewers and sell ads.
  23. I can't recall that being posted around here or anyone anywhere saying or writing that.
