  1. Thurman is a true friend when #12 needs one. Good for him.
  2. The attached article shows a breakdown of a few receivers. Watkins catches a lot of screens which is either good or bad depending on how you view that play. I don't think they work as well in pros as college or in the red zone. http://thejetpress.com/2014/01/30/new-york-jets-nfl-draft-sammy-watkins-marqise-lee-kelvin-benjamin-mike-evans-jordan-matthews/
  3. You don't need five #1 picks. Look at the Pats. They are a group of non-elite talents that is the most talented line in football. Mankins, Vollmer and Solder were all top 40 picks. Marcus Cannon only dropped due to his cancer diagnosis. Pats also hold on most plays.
  4. I think improved blocking would help CJ but I do wonder if he fits Marrone's thinking. He used a between the tackles run game at Syracuse. Mason from Auburn is the best back in the draft, should go in top 50 picks, doubt we would pick him that high.
  5. He got almost the exact money that they signed Urbik. He must be expected to start.
  6. Schwarz was a jeff Fisher disciple who played for and coached with Buddy Ryan. Might be Marrone wants to keep with the 46 defense coaching tree.
  7. Spags would be an interesting candidate. Jim Schwarz had great D's in Tenn. Mike SIngletary is out there. Ed Orgeron, ex-USC HC has connections to Marrone. All agressive type coaches.
  8. I agree with Bill from NYC's take. The Bills were embarrassed by a weak Tampa team due to the weakness in the middle of the offensive line. Any quarterback need to be able to take a step to be effective. EJ Manuel will be more effective with fewer defenders at his feet as he throws. For all the clamoring of drafting a WR, TE or one of the top QB's, it will not make a difference in the team's performance if no pocket exists. Watching SD run on Cinci and the play of SF's line at GB shows how to win in cold weather. Pears- Did Ok, Harrison was pretty good when on field in the past Urbik- was strong in early part of year, injury may have hampered him Wood- Good player Legursky- back up forced to start Glenn- A star in the making I am all for taking a second round OG or a starter level UFA - No more stop gaps. Gabe Jackson or Cyril Richardson would be nice adds. First pick leaves a lot of possibilities: If Michigan OT Lewan is sitting there, he will be hard to ignore. Fixing offensive line helps CJ Spiller as well. A better offensive line keeps the defense better rested.
  9. Andre Reed was the best player on the field for the biggest comeback in playoff history against the Oilers. Was not a quitter that day!
  10. A number 1 receiving target. While it might be Wood with some experience and a healthy QB, we need one of those great talents to compliment or outperform him. Stevie Johnson gets nicked a lot and does not dominate games.
  11. Bennett is deserving. Joe Devlin started 180 games for the Bills and deserves it as well.
  12. Boil some water in a big pot and breathe in the steam. Gives a little bit of relief. You might need amoxicillan.
  13. I look at comments like the one by Reggie Bush and think Dansby would be perfect if he would sign an incentive laden contract. The guy makes 100 solo tackles a year and we need an inside backer. The Dolphins have made clear that they want to remake their roster this offseason, and Bush indicated that he was even more surprised that they cut linebacker Karlos Dansby. “Couldn’t believe that one, because he was the leader of that defense,” Bush said. “He’s one of the few linebackers that I’ve actually played against and played with that I think can do it all.”http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/17/reggie-bush-says-the-dolphins-didnt-want-to-keep-him/related/
  14. I am fine with the choice of Marrone. The Bills interviewed a number of candidates who appeared to be interested in the job. Contrast this to the last search when no one wanted the job and we ended up with Gailey. I would rather Marrone focus on interviewing a coaching staff and getting familiar with his new team than an in depth Q & A session. As for who picked Maybin, not sure how this signals anything relative to Marrone's selection.
  15. I thought the guy in the attached link captured some good thoughts about the Barkley slide. I still think he will be the first QB taken. I’ve heard Barkley doesn’t have a strong throwing arm. Who told you that? Was it Phil Simms, because he also said Andrew Luck didn’t have a big-time arm before last year’s draft. I don’t know where people are getting this idea. In fact, Barkley had more yards per attempt in 2012 than Geno Smith, Tyler Wilson, Mike Glennon, and Tyler Bray. In other words, more than all the other quarterbacks I mentioned except Aaron Murray. Why would the USC coaching staff trust Barkley to make the kind of throws that got him a high yards per attempt if they didn’t trust his arm? And even if it comes out in the combine or the Pro Day that Barkley can’t throw it 60 yards on his knees like JaMarcus Russell could (the gold standard of arm strength that didn’t mean a darn thing), he’s obviously got a strong enough arm to get the job done. arrowheadaddict.com/2012/12/15/todd-mcshay-is-wrong-and-matt-barkley-should-be-a-chief/
  16. Kevin Greene of GB might be ready for a DC shot, though he is likely a 3-4 guy. Joe Barry, Pepper Johnson, Winston Moss are due for a shot. A more established name is Romeo Crennel or Rod Marinelli.
  17. He has drafted pretty well. His comments mean very little in December. I have no problem with his banter, he is stating the obvious that we need a QB, does not mean he is reaching for one.
  18. Powerful arm, improved yearly, seemed to excel in two minute offense. Throws too hard at times, needs to put a touch on ball. Tough as nails, got up a lot from huge hits, avid weight room guy. Has worked under Marrone who has pro offense. Nassib will rise up after individual workouts, scouts will be impressed with his ball velocity. I always viewed him as a 3rd round type of QB.
  19. Chan seemed to clash with Todd Haley in KC. My guess is he is too stubborn to give anything up.
  20. J Geils Band, Grand Funk Railroad, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Yes all deserve entry.
  21. - I asked in a different thread and didnt get an answer: why are we so ineffective in short yardage situations when we have a) near pro bowl caliber center, b) quality guards, c) premier running backs? Dont blame Chans fancy play calling, when he call straight up runs, we mostly get stuffed. We have very little blocking from the TE position. A lot of teams put one in motion and hammer open a gap. Chandler is a lousy blocker and usually out on patterns.
  22. Chan's offense did not play on the sloppy field that the Bears and Texans did. Neither team did much of anything afyer halftime. As for last week, The Bills ran the ball 16 times versus Texas, The Bears ran it 23 times last night. Buffalo ran 57 plays in their game, the Bears ran 56 last night. This despite the many more possessions the Bears offense received via the great Bears defense stopping Texans (as opposed to Bills D)?
  23. I think safety has to be a consideration. Wilson is slipping and Byrd may be gone. I like Searcy but he seems to have limitations.
  24. I can respect Fitz for this comment http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/2012/11/fitzpatrick_on.html?comments=all#comments
