Pete, I think you got that backwards. A pessimist would say their glass is half empty, it's the optimist who says their glass is half full. Yet, your point wasn't missed. I too will be hopeful that these "new" Bills will be able to play, and contribute. I also hope that last years picks, Troup, Carrington, and especially Spiller will bring much needed contributions as well. I don't like our QB situation, but for some years with Fergy, and 11 years with Jim Kelly, we had a QB of stature and talent. We're long overdue another big time QB. Until then, Fitz is our guy and here's to a successful 2011 (if the idiot owners and players can decide the game is what is important).

Yet I wonder if he will even reach the level of salary that he was offered by the Bills. The vast majority here don't believe he's elite and is undeserving of elite money, but it still only takes one over zealous team and......

Ralph has been using a walker for a while now. Sadly, Ralph's days are clearly winding down and at 92 and a half years old, he has been using a walker for quite a while now. In pix with Nix, Darius, and Gailey, Ralph was hanging onto Darius as well as being held up by Nix. Every season he has left, is a gift from God.

The first half of your comment above sounded just like dippy Tom Donohoe who brought us Jake Arians after letting Steve Christy go. Thankfully he wised up and then signed Mike Hollis and Ryan Lindell afterward to try to rectify his major blunder.

As Nix said, "he's not as big as you guys are saying. He's down to 378 so he's drying up to nothing (big smile)" -
Is Bledsoe back?

I would have gone QB, or Bowers....yet his knee must be bad or he'd never have gotten by the first three picks of the draft

...Fergie going Deep for Lewis..... Next question, when will the Bills officially showcase the new uni's now that the "word" is out? -
Post draft quote we can count on.
Spiderweb replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A number of the longer term posters will be back, but that will likely be when the draft dust settles, a CBA is in place, and camp or the preseason is underway. -
Mark Pike's son commits to play QB at Auburn
Spiderweb replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As far as special teams players go, Mark Pike was the unsung hero for the Bills for 12 years. Overshadowed by Tasker, but the numbers speak for themselves. Mark Pike was one of the best ST guys to have played the game. So can the sarcasm..... -
Much healthier...!!!

By 1996, Kelly's arm was in bad shape. Never mind he couldn't run (he never could), but his arm began heading downhill after 1991. If Kelly had anything left, he would have played for the Ravens in 1997 but in his workout for Marchibroda/Ravens, he was deemed done by the OC that coached JK's greatest years.

Mike Mayock NOT convinced Carolina takes Cam
Spiderweb replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll still be a BIlls fan first and foremost, but I will hate the pick and will curse the Bills brass for taking that mental midget. -
I agree. Stevecana should tell us how JP Losman was taught "pocket presence". That's one of those intangibles that shows fairly quickly or not at all.

Vrabel confirms decertification was a sham
Spiderweb replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peter, Peter, Peter, and the rest of those here that keep beating this same old tired drum. Sham? No. Negotiating tactic, you bet. Yet you cannot continue to beat this drum without also adding that the owners over a couple years ago, planned for a lockout and negotiated TV deals that guaranteed them an income stream games or not. Get real..... -
Not the best of news, but it appears neither side is willing to show any real inclination to move on their well known positions................ Not until 5/16 !!!

NYC Bills Backers 10th Draft Party
Spiderweb replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds great. One of my favorite players in the history of the Bills. He made it look so easy in his prime...... Have a great time.... -
Report: Federal agents raid athletic facility

As others have added, I tried it this year on a whim (also have the Sunday Ticket) and it worked very well. Pix quality was actually pretty darned good overall and even watched in on a 37" LCD with reasonable quality. It look great on my PC Monitor (22"). I work mainly evenings so I'm up late on Sunday night anyway. If i move back to predominately days, Mon - Fri, it wouldn't be so enjoyable since you have to wait till midnight to view that days games.

Some details on league's proposals for rookies
Spiderweb replied to UConn James's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There has been rumbling about how the average players career is only 3-4 years long and to limit their earnings initially is unfair. I would say that rookies should all be obligated to the team that drafts them for 5 years for those drafted in the first three years, 4 years for the remainder of those drafted and UDFA's for 3 years to the team that signs them. After two years, performance escalators could be standard for those who perform well. While I'm far more inclined to back the players in the current CBA war, I would never allow a contract to be renegotiated until the final year of the contract, although I believe a portion of every contract should be guaranteed, on a sliding scale based upon how may years are left on the deal. The less time left, the bigger the percentage. -
Putting Together a 3-4 Defense
Spiderweb replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Farnkly, I did not read the entire post, but one part did catch my attention and that was whether Kyle Williams can handle the NT position. I would disagree. More talent around him will help, but he more a penetrating type when he's successful. He is not anywhere near stout enough for a pure NT against the run. Our run defense for a number of years has needed improvement and in his five years with the Bills, our run D has progressively gotten worse. While I do agree a big part of that is due to a lack of talent around him, he has shown to be at his best as a 4-3 type tackle. The game he had against Pittsburgh last year was performance to behold against Chris Kemoeatu. Williams destroyed him, yet after that game he went relatively quiet afterwards. I love the way he plays the game, his heart, his intensity, but to me he's a 4-3 tackle. -
Big thumbs up !!!!!  .................

Fantastic Article About Mallett, Newton and Gabbert
Spiderweb replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To this fan, the Biggest knock on Bledsoe was that nothing he did was quick. Pat, pat, pat, pat, throw. His screen passes were often pitifully inaccurate or totally lacking in touch. That's what I remember. I also don't believe he read coverages as well as he needed too. Scramble? Ever see a sloth? Bledsoe could throw the ball down field and accurately. Cannon armed. Yet, too slow in too many areas. He's disliked because once the first half of his first season with the Bills ended, he was generally far more ineffective than effective. -
Who Wants to Watch Tom Brady Cry?
Spiderweb replied to DieHardFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would have to disagree, at least in part. Many "football fans" legimately dislike Brady due to his crying to the officials if someone even breathes on him. Marino was another. Both loaded with talent, but frequently displayed characteristics that quickly turned off general football fans. Whining babies, the both of them.
