Maxwell Hairston named in civil lawsuit for sexual assault
DrDawkinstein replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Given the general police track record all across this country of not believing victims, not properly investigating, and not processing rape kits, I'm not sure how much stock I put into "no charges so therefore completely innocent". And most of that is on regular civilian rapes. When a top athlete in a small college town is involved, they're even more incentivized to sweep it under the rug. That is what hurt Araiza. SDSU and the local police originally swept the whole thing under the rug because SDSU was about to get a bid to join the PAC-12, and they didnt want to hurt the chances with a scandal. So they just ignored her claims. Had they properly investigated it at the time, they could have cleared Araiza and then it all goes away. Sounds like more was done here in the Hairston case, which is good. And most of the stuff is public record now so easier to make a determination. But in general, "the cops didnt press charges" doesnt mean much when it comes to star athlete assaults. -
Bills Score 3 TDs in 77 seconds. Sept. 30, 1990

The draft was also 12 rounds and there was no salary cap, or even free agency really, so that helped a lot too But it was a very special team. I was lucky enough that my dad, who had just lived through the tough Bills times of the 70s and early-80s, would always tell me after any/all of those miraculous 90s performances: "enjoy every minute of this, and dont get used to it, this is NOT how football teams usually play, this is a once in a lifetime thing." I think that advice helped me hold onto my mental health through the drought, lol. -

Great take and insight and something I hadnt thought about before. The timing was lost in my childhood memory and I hadnt realized it occurred on the path to our first SB. Totally agree. -
Who is the worst franchise QB in the NFL?
DrDawkinstein replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lawrence and Tua. Without a doubt. I dont even consider many of the other guys mentioned here since they are more rentals (Geno, Darnold) than long-term, mega-million signed ("Franchise") QBs. I'd put Dak right behind them. He's better than them, but paid much higher. Then Purdy right behind Dak. I can put Kyler on that list too, but at least I've seen flashes from him. Baker deserves way more respect and should be no where near this list. I'm not even a big fan, and I was a disbeliever when he came out. But I'll never forget that Rams win he pulled off after having joined the team merely 48 hours earlier. And dude has been solid all around. Cleveland messed that up and did him dirty (surprise, surprise). -

Was lucky enough to be there as a kid. This is the game, and really the moment, that pops into my head whenever the 90s teams are referenced. That real life image of the FG being blocked and and the ball just hanging in the air for what seems like forever with Bennett the only one underneath it. Just waiting to catch it and take it to the house. We could all see what was coming. And it's also a great summary of how magical and dominant those teams were. We were never out of it until the clock hit 0:00. And even then theres a chance... -

Antonio Brown files bankruptcy. Earned over $100Million

Wait until PFF releases their WR Corp rankings this week and Bills come in #1. Board meltdown.

We must be in PFF's "Generate Clicks in the Offseason" cycle. They rank our DL as Top 5, and McDermott as a bottom half HC. Now, I have my own issues with McD, but cmon... They're just saying controversial crap to get clicks.

Drew Brees reveals right arm 'no longer works'
DrDawkinstein replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
$270,000,000 in just NFL earnings. Probably another, what, $100M in endorsements? Now, he blew a lot of that money because he's a dummy, but the earnings are there. Drew and I are the same age. I too have arthritis in my shoulder from years of sports. I dont have $300M tho. So this songs for Drew... -
I dont disagree.

FO: Bills over Texans was Top Defensive DVOA Ever Measured
DrDawkinstein replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall
It really was. Weird to see that NE was in 1st place and well into the season (week 16) we were still only tied with them. Then we throttled them in the playoffs with Josh's perfect game, and havent looked back since. -
This is hilariously pathetic. Only the Johnsons would think this sounds good... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Which Games Should You Consider Selling Back? Not every game on the schedule is equal in appeal or convenience. Here are some thoughts on which games may be worth holding onto, and which ones you might consider exchanging: Pittsburgh, Sunday, September 7 at 1 p.m.: The season opener always brings energy and strong attendance. Unless you absolutely cannot make it, this is one to hold onto. Buffalo, Sunday, September 14 at 1 p.m.: A divisional game with a rowdy crowd, but early in the season and right after the opener. If travel or back-to-back weekends are tough, this is a solid candidate for selling on the secondary market. You might be able to get more than face value. Dallas, Sunday, October 5: Cowboys fans travel well, and resale value will likely be high. If you aren’t going, this is another good secondary market game. Carolina, Sunday, October 19: Middle of the season, possibly lower stakes, and fewer traveling fans. This could be an ideal game to swap if your schedule gets crowded. Cleveland, Atlanta, Miami, New England: These late-season games could be meaningful if the Jets are in the playoff hunt, or challenging if weather and travel become an issue. If you are heading out of town for the holidays, exchanging one of these games might make sense. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Essentially telling fans they should just sell their seats on the secondary market to opposing fans for these games.

FO: Bills over Texans was Top Defensive DVOA Ever Measured
DrDawkinstein replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall
It had been so long, I couldnt remember the game this referred to at all. Went back and looked it up... 40-0! Then I remembered that streak from Week 2 Miami through Week 5 KC, where we just DOMINATED for an entire month. I think I flushed that whole season from my brain due to the way it ended. -
The Bills already made this exact move but at half the price. Bringing an old, injured Tre White back for 1/$3M. Both White and Alexander will play the same roles on their teams.

Are Fan Expectations Too High for Keon Coleman?
DrDawkinstein replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Keon on his rookie season: "When that s--t trash, you got to be better" https://www.nfl.com/news/bills-wr-keon-coleman-gives-harsh-self-assessment-of-rookie-season-you-got-to-be-better But amid the team success, there's one player who vocally admitted this past week that he was not at all satisfied with his individual performance: wide receiver Keon Coleman. "You want to know exactly what I see? When that s--- trash, you got to be better, simple as that," Coleman said of his thoughts looking back on his tape from his first year in the league. "You gotta be more efficient here. You gotta get out of this break. You got to stack your DB. You got to give Josh more room to throw the ball. You gotta catch that. You gotta make that block. You got to get that extra effort on the touchdown block so if Jimbo (James Cook) breaks it, he's up the sideline. Just different things like that. Calling out everything that you're doing wrong to make it right."
