Joe Brady says Dalton "lived here this offseason"
DrDawkinstein replied to sunshynman's topic in The Stadium Wall
We actually got a pretty good look at Mahomes' routine, plan, and activities in the Netflix "Quarterbacks" show. It was beyond impressive. While I am not criticizing Josh, or questioning his work ethic, I don't see how it could be at the same level. For example, Mahomes built a facility in KC and moved his long time personal trainer to KC. If Josh was doing something like that, we'd know it. Again, I'm not questioning or criticizing Josh. But I dont think the effort/dedication/whatever you want to call it is the same. Could certainly be wrong. Maybe Josh is doing everything Mahomes is and we just dont see it. But Mahomes' level would be difficult for ANYONE to match. -
Like we've said previously, no rush to pay him, and we can always tag him. But I disagree on letting him walk, especially if he repeats.

Joe Brady says Dalton "lived here this offseason"

Every thread title that is just "Brady" gets me every time. Every. Time. -
What is this $20M number and where is it coming from? Cook has only mentioned $15M, and only mentioned it once. I have him possibly getting up to $17M on the market if he has a repeat season. At that point, we'd just Franchise Tag him tho and figure it out from there. And as for the Schoen quote... Maybe I'm crazy but I'd swear there is a constant hum of Bills fans begging Beane to get Josh weapons so he doesnt have to do it all himself. Why are we so excited to get rid of the most productive skill player on Offense? What better to take the pressure off a QB than a real threatening running game? What better to take those dangerous carries off of Josh's shoulders than a real RB who can do it himself? As for the OL, almost every great RB ran behind a great OL. Heck, even OJ had the Electric Company. Maybe the only one was Barry Sanders. You need both. As to the bold, why does he care? He got his money. And for RBs, this next contract is likely his one shot at big bucks.

15 is out of the question... with who? You? The Bills? Because if he repeats his 2024 season, then when he hits the open market he will absolutely get $15M/yr. Maybe more.

He is playing out the contract he signed. The entire discussion/negotiation is about his next contract.

Who was invited to Josh and Hailee's wedding?
DrDawkinstein replied to Willie West's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was there. But I was too late... -
If your Safety is squaring up the RB then you have bigger problems on your hands since the RB is getting through your DL and LBs. I'd rather see Bishop stepping in front of that pass over the middle and taking it to the house for a pick-6.

Tyreek Hill doesn’t believe he deserves to be a Dolphins team captain https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/tyreek-hill-doesnt-believe-he-deserves-to-be-a-dolphins-team-captain Agreed, Tyreek...

He got a great offer from Seattle and we couldnt afford him anymore. We technically could have paid him, but he was getting starter money and we were going to have him as a backup. I thought Beane did a good enough job shoring up the position after the 2023 fiasco, and even with Milano and Bernard out, didnt see the drop off like we had previously.

These jokes never get old Just like Tremaine Edmunds

Havent watched it, but I think I saw that the main character is from Buffalo.

I cant think of one time over the past 25 years anyone has said "This team had a lot of potential coming into the season, but Hard Knocks really sandbagged them"
-
This isnt good logic when, for most of those 24 years, playoff teams were allowed to opt out of it. So the show only featured teams that were already bad. Looking back at the handful of playoff teams that did participate doesnt show any drop off or negative affect. I dont expect any here either. Frankly, if a part-time documentary is enough to sandbag the team, we arent that good in the first place. (spoiler: it wont because we are)

Of @Gugny? Sadly, yes...

I dont think it has much of anything to do with the old team and the time spent there. These are just PR/Marketing blurbs to endorse the new team and ingratiate themselves with the new coaches and new fans. We shouldnt even be reading it. It's like reading the texts between your ex-gf and her new bf. If she says "I've never been happier" dont take it as a direct attack on you and your time together.
-
Ha, yep. It's going to be the most annoying part of the whole thing. The show will be "fine". But Bills fans will lose any shred of perspective they had left. While the rest of the country moves on with their lives, the same way we all did for every other episode/season of Hard Knocks that no one really cared about, our board here will have 100 page threads debating any little move that upsets our sensitive nature. "I saw James Cook set his water bottle down too hard! He's an unhappy cancer! Teach that kid a lesson and trade him now!"

oh wow

It wasnt the camera that made him say something dumb or make a bad decision. He was doing that either way. The camera played no part in the outcome, it merely exposed him. If that's the case at OBD, better we know about it. (But I dont expect that).

Some players have Netflix crews following them around. Other players have Amazon crews following them around. A couple of guys are being profiled on NFL Films. The team has their Marketing film crew making commercials and shorts. Then there is the team's Social Media team running around with phones and shooting skits. The players are doing their own social media clips/skits for their podcasts. One more crew, of mostly installed motionless cameras, isnt that big a deal nowadays.

Interesting point. Over the recent past, for sure. But I believe Hard Knocks started with the SB Ravens team. That would have to be up there. edit: Just checked the list HK started with the 2001 Ravens, fresh off their 2000 SB season. They had the 2010 Jets who made a deep playoff run. And the 2020 Rams who went on to win the Super Bowl

Yes, if no team volunteers, the NFL will pick a team. There were some rules before regarding teams that made the previous playoffs cant be forced, but I think those have changed. They havent needed to get that far much because typically if no one else wants to, Jerry Jones volunteers the Cowboys because it keeps his brand growing. To answer @Doc Brown's question. There are lots of reasons besides it being a distraction. More so along the lines of exposing coaching/staff and decisions. See: Joe Schoen and the Barkley saga last year, that is why they killed the Offseason version. Most of these teams like to run a tight-knit, closed door operation. Doesnt mean it's a distraction to the players/coaches.
-
This is not a distraction to these Gen Z players who are used to having a camera in their face, most of the time their own camera. That whole "distraction" argument stopped being valid a decade ago.
