  1. One affects the game that the league runs, one doesnt. PEDs, gambling, cheating, etc are all directly related to their job. Off-field stuff isnt. Folks get so confused about employer discipline when it comes to this stuff. I could commit a whole bunch of crimes that my employer would have zero business punishing me over. Including car accidents. Now, I get that they are in high-profile positions and the league needs to protect it's public image in order to make money, but that is the only reason they get involved with punishments for off-field issues. Punishing people for off-field crimes is what the judicial system is for, and he'll be serving 30 days and 5 years probation. Any issues with that, take it up with the courts.
  2. Guys... this isnt a perfect, 100% 1:1 analogy. But the bones are the same. Its more about the big picture overall plan than matching up exact players. You can say we didnt have anyone as talented... sure, but most folks feel Gardner has been more hype and disappointing, much like Sammy. And while the Bills didnt get the OL figured out right away, they were at least trying. Way more movement in the trenches here than in NY this year. I dont remember Beane handing out 2 HUGE contracts right away tho either. But if you think this is the plan that will work for the Jets and they are on the right track and setting themselves up to draft a great QB next year, I'm sure Gang Green is happy to have your support. Even worse then because the Jets likely would have been able to bring in quite a haul for those better players.
  3. I guess I see this as a very "Drought Bills" move. Spending big money on a couple of names that arent actually going to affect any wins or improvements. We spun our wheels for so long doing that. Then we saw the McBeane plan. Come in as a new regime, trade away the old regime's players, stockpile assets to go get your QB the next year. Bring in some players who are experienced with and loyal to the new coach to help maintain belief in the locker room. In the meantime, start figuring out the trenches. There looks to be a few decent QB prospects next year. More so than the last couple of years. That should be their main focus right now. IMO at least. Luckily, the Jets dont trust the process.
  4. Funny, the rest of the internet is slobbing the Jets right now too. A lot of "The Jets are finally doing it right!". I dont have the time or patience to tell them how they are wrong, so I'll just sit back and wait for it to all fall apart by October and enjoy the schadenfreude like I have the last few years.
  5. They just brought in a new GM and HC so that may have delayed getting down to business whereas Beane was likely in talks with some of these agents last season. That's my guess at least.
  6. Just wait until Brick takes over. We're good for 70 more years.
  7. New Jets regime had every excuse they needed to trade them for assets before the players could ever demand one, just like when Beane came in and cleaned house. Not their guys, etc etc The whole building needs a reset, not overspending on keeping under-producing boundary players (even if they are very good). This doesnt make me any more worried about the Jets. The recent draft record is a fair point.
  8. Ehh, I dont think you build around WRs and CBs. If you arent going to have a QB, you start building the trenches imo.
  9. Kevin OConnell and his system/playcalling is the Vikings equivalent to having a star QB. The Jets dont have a KOC. And now they have (another) Defensive minded HC. The new regime should have traded Wilson, use picks on the trenches or a shot at QB. Agreed he'll have a "1000 yard season" but is that even a big deal with 17 games and a pass-heavy league?
  10. Well, never in this case is really only 4 years So I have that going for my prediction.
  11. Classic Jets move. He'll never be worth it with who they have throwing the ball to him (Fields or otherwise).
  12. This also supports my point above about expecting multiple SB victories with Josh. It's tough enough to get just one.
  13. Great team but they tend to shrink in cold weather games.
  14. @Royale with Cheese does the winner of the Drought Bills vs 2025 Bills game go on to play the All Bulge team?
  15. I get what youre saying, but having a front row seat for the Patriots dynasty and now the Chiefs has really skewed our thinking when it comes to Super Bowl wins. MULTIPLE Lombardis is typically a ridiculous pipe dream. One is far more the norm. And sure, Josh could win multiple, but I think one would be a miracle for McD as it is. Coming out of the conference that has the Chiefs, Ravens, Bengals, etc, AND beating the best of the NFC... I'll take the guaranteed single win. A bird in hand is worth a dynasty in the bush.
  16. I'm 2 episodes in. Love it. I'll always watching any of these shows that give us Behind the Scenes glimpses into the lives of pro athletes, and especially the in-the-building football aspect of it. Cousins is a cornball, but I do think he is genuinely a good dude. And a hell of a competitor. I can respect all that. Burrow is a weirdo, but he owns it and embraces it. I can respect that. I prefer Josh to him, but I like that Joe isnt just another cookie-cutter QB "personality" The Goff storyline is obvious. Great resiliency, and we should all be able to appreciate anyone who can fight through that and come out successful. Plus, as others have pointed out, he has the hottest wife of any of the pro athletes that have been on any of these shows. More screentime for her please. Looking forward to getting through the rest of the episodes and then Hard Knocks to follow. I'm predicting the entire first episode is about Josh's wedding.
  17. It didnt need to be either, Donahoe was just a jackass. The Vikings signed him for less than a $1M difference of our offer (I think it was like a $250k difference). Tom just wouldnt budge. Huge mistake.
  18. He went out like a clown so folks forget, but our run defense was sooooo bad in 2010 and he IMMEDIATELY fixed it in 2011.
  19. Yeah, in reality I havent been on any socials since 2015 and dont miss it at all. Maybe it's a generational thing, but folks my age had (have) no problem putting their dirty laundry out there too. It was so much "latest fight with the spouse", kids in trouble, etc etc.
  20. I feel like Social Media has ruined the idea of Class Reunions for us younger generations. I can already know what everyone is up to, usually way more than I need to know. And I still keep in contact and regularly see all my real friends that I actually want to hang out with. I have no desire to go back for an in-person meet up. If I really wanted that, I could just hit up my suburbs local bars at my leisure and see most of the folks who never left. And that's coming up on my 30yr reunion. Maybe 50 might be more interesting, to see who is still around.
  21. Gotta be Dareus then. And prime Dareus (that 1 season) was pretty good before he wasnt.
  22. Pat Williams was on a playoff Bills team. He was one of the first players I thought of too and looked it up right when the thread started.
  23. Someone post the link to the article that mentioned how Watson was proactively taking Sanders and the other rookie QBs under his wing...
  24. In fairness, we all needed lots of draughts to get through the drought.
  25. Funny enough, the NFL Network just replayed the 2015 Playoff Game between the Panthers and Seahawks. Panthers were up 31-0 at the half when I turned it on. Before I knew it, it was 31-24 and Seahawks were still in it but botched their onside kick at the end. It all felt very familiar with McDermott as DC. Some things will NEVER change. This will always be an issue for the Bills with McD. Just hope Josh can cover for McD every time.
