  1. Except for his thc testing levels!
  2. Are you hitting on me? (Because it's working)
  3. Fair enough as a general cap question looking at the whole roster. Cook's new deal is an extension and wouldnt change his 2025 number unless Beane specifically designed it that way. Which I'd be surprised since we were already in cap trouble. NONE of the other extensions signed this offseason changed the players' 2025 numbers. Currently, the cap number is based on our 51 highest contracts. If any of those guys get released in our cut down from 99 to 53, then we're likely under cap immediately. In looking at our "top 51", we have some guy names Kendrick Green at #50 making $1M with no dead money if cut. Cut him and we're immediately +400k. Shenault and Hamler in the same boat and I doubt both will be kept. WR Kristian Wilkerson is at #47 with $1.1M, and he's likely gone. So short answer: Cuts will get us there. That is a bad assumption right now. It shouldnt. It's an extension.
  4. Agreed, and it's my response to "he doesnt pass protect well". Fine, DONT leave him in the backfield to chip a blitzer. Have him pop out and have Josh hit him fast as the hot route. Now you have Cook in space. Defenses will have to decide if blitzing is worth leaving Cook wide open.
  5. Got any extra sanity to divy out to the fans?
  6. He only reads 50% of the threads! And he cant pass protect!
  7. No new money added this year so this contract isnt the issue. I know Josh is worth every penny, but he makes more in a single season than Cook's entire contract is worth and counts for 20% of the total cap. Between that, his nut farm, and the millions upon millions in endorsement money (not to mention the millions and millions his wife already has), it would be nice if he would pull a Tom Brady and think about taking a little less in order to keep his OL together. Just sayin. If you're worried about the cap, there are lots of other places to look than this new contract. Additionally, Beane shouldve thought about this when he handed Hoecht $7M/yr to sit out with a known PED suspension.
  8. Something needs to be done about Knox's contract, but I dont think he's gone-gone next year. Most likely a restructure, or a whole different deal. Bringing him down closer to (or even under) $10M/yr. Hawes is a good blocker, but that's it and a completely different type of TE. More Lee Smith than Knox replacement. Totally agreed on Samuel and Oliver.
  9. Our backup TE is set to make $14.5M this year and $17M next year. We pay Samuel $9M to be WR4 role player. We just handed Hoecht $7M/yr to sit out suspended. Ed Oliver is good and all but set to make $25M next year. There's a lot of other money to worry about than $12M for what Cook brings to the table. To the flip side: We have our Franchise QB locked up We have our OTs locked up We do not have any major WRs who will command $30M or even $20M We just got all the other major extensions done. The cap is skyrocketing every season with streaming money (a huge $25M jump that last couple of years) We have other guys we can restructure IOL is in the same underpaid boat as RB. To @Ya Digg?'s point, there is no need to worry about this $12M contract.
  10. Once Gibbs, Montgomery, and Robinson get re-signed this contract wont even be a blip on the radar.
  11. Future reference for the "he doesnt act like he's excited to be here" crowd, THIS is his reaction to the most exciting day of his life. Stop taking it personally.
  12. As Jeremy White and Joe Marino pointed out on WGR this morning, there was NO drama in the Bills building. All the drama and feelings was among the fans only.
  13. Now that he has all this money I hear he's changing his name to James Chef
  14. If he consistently has season like last year then he'll have proven to be worth whatever he wants in a new extension. If he doesnt live up to last year then he has no leverage for such a hold out. Even less than this year as he will be 28-29 years old. Yeah, unlikely he even gets a CHANCE to do this hold in again.
  15. Good news, we didnt sign Dalvin.
  16. 3rd most guaranteed for a RB behind only Barkley and Jeanty (which barely counts since its a fully guaranteed rookie deal). So most guaranteed money outside of Barkley. And folks said he was taking bad advice from his dumb brother and idiot agent...
  17. I was trying to figure that out last night. Must be Patrick Willis. "Willis D fit in your mouth?" all I can think of.
  18. I'm guessing Beane opened around $10M per, and we all know Cook's starting number. Good compromise on both sides. Took some maneuvering and working leverages, but they got it done. No one will remember all the thread drama by the time the season starts.
  19. Wife of one of our scouts. Passed away recently.
  20. This is why they dont put good teams on Hard Knocks. Not much interesting going on. Kinda like this board during the drought years vs when things have been good - a lot less to talk about nowadays.
