He'll take the interview, as he should. The practice and experience of sitting in as many interviews as possible is invaluable. It's what most short-sighted haters miss about the Rooney rule. The interviews are valuable no matter what.

Let me tell you a little secret about most of the people in leadership/ownership positions in the NFL...

I believe the Jets will end up with Aaron Glenn, DC of Lions. That is the only type of HC candidate they can seriously attract. A Defensive coach who is getting a bigger opportunity than he probably deserves right now. Either that or Chan Gailey might be available.

I get the idea that they want to find their guy ASAP so they can get started on other things. But yeah, not like college where the coach is going to bounce during the middle of the playoffs. They have to wait to get him into the building anyways. Totally agreed there should be a hiring freeze until after the Super Bowl.

That leaves 3 without many other candidates out there, and Brady has strong ties to the Saints.

Take the interview for practice and to drive the price up on the Saints. But dang, I'm reminded that we again have to deal with this crap while trying to make a playoff run. The league needs to fix this and allow coordinators to stay focused until the season is over.

Ownership may have wanted the #1 pick, but not sure how you can make that happen unless you give your Coaching staff an absolute guarantee of their return, which they obviously didnt have.
