  1. Bills have a penchant of coming out on the losing end of 'any given Sunday'. Let's beat the Texans first before taking pity on their struggles.
  2. That expression is somewhere on my list of pet peeves, but listing them will hijack this thread
  3. The topic set by the OP was U2, not Stones. You did not quote any post and wrote "Fan of the band, like their latest". Considering it was an incomplete sentence, it was open to interpretation. So before you get into the condescending 'read much' line, look at what you posted and how it was without any reference.
  4. The way the offense was (not) playing, this game was not at all close. I am not sure the Chargers would call off the dogs with only a 10 point lead and I am willing to give the D some credit. If the O could show some semblance of competency, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Agreed on GIlmore. I myself have been guilty of making excuses for him the first 2 years. His rookie year, I thought he would be real good at press coverage but he kept drawing penalties. My hope was that he was getting used to the NFL’s referees and would get that under control in his soph year. But the soph year was the year of injury excuses. This year, I am done with his general lack of effort and heart. Guy just doesn’t seem like he wants to make plays, as a Fred Jackson would. I went through the same psychological phases with McKelvin and gave up on him but he seemed to do well last year. As of now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cockrell activated very soon. As for Schwartz’s D, it has been pretty decent for us this year as evidenced by at least the first two games. If we got better cornerback play, perhaps it would be a more complete unit.
  5. This gets my goat as well. Going back to last season, penalties have been the one constant on this team. Many of them are inopportune penalties that kill promising or critical drives. If the coaching staff does nothing else, they need to get these down to a more acceptable number.
  6. You have got to be kidding. And with the Edge playing guitar, that is laughable.
  7. Need adjustments in second half. Considering they get ball first in second half
  8. I too have a tough time believing that 3 hour time change makes that big a difference in the performance. If they said that traveling to Europe caused a problem due to the ~ 11 hour change, I may buy that. Isolating one variable and trying to prove causation is a futile exercise. The Dean and others may weigh in with a more precise explanation of taking data and trying to fit one variable to the observed result. IMHO, this contention is BS
  9. Depends on who loses. If SD loses, it will be because they had to play across 3 times zones and in the rainy weather. If Bills lose, it is because 'they are who we thought they were'.
  10. Neither of us has any way to confirm that.
  11. " that speaks to his competitive spirit. He is always trying to be the best on the field. blah blah "
  12. Makes sense. But note that the opportunities provided to a top pick are also because the scouting department rated him highly in the first place. If they pegged Cousins as a low(er) round pick compared to RGIII, it was based on their own evaluation of the talent. That evaluation won't suddenly go away unless the two players project vastly differently in training camp, games etc. This was the case with CyrusK and SeantrealH – it was evident that CyrusK is going to need a lot more time and effort so irrespective of their draft position, Seantreal is starting (albeit at different position than CyrusK was drafted for). I am glad the Bills did not fall into this trap and forced CyrusK into the lineup. Their thinking probably is that an experienced underperformer like ChrisW is better than him at this point. That being said, RGIII may be done as a Washington starter if Cousins stays healthy and performs anywhere close to the likes of Russell Wilson or Kaepernick.
  13. Good stuff. Watkins' versatility gives Hackett a lot of options. Undoubtedly, opposing Ds will get this tape and devise ways to cover him. But that will only provide more opportunities for Woods, Williams and Chandler.
  14. milquetoast
  15. Decent pass by an average NFL QB ? I disagree completely. It was an extremely well thrown pass and took a terrific PBU from Grimes to have it fall incomplete. Frankly, I am not sure what over-arching argument you are really making. Would it make you happy for the other person to say it was not a 'perfect' pass ? If so, then you are truly arguing words and semantics than the point of the discussion. You are sounding like an argumentative person who is nit-picking single words just to point the finger and say the other person is wrong.
  16. Forget the useless stuff like matchups, roster quality and how we are winning. 2008, 2011 (2008+3) and now 2014 (2011+3). It is this numerology that has me tempering my enthusiasm.
  17. Not if it is intentional. I just made a fake one
  18. I think by the time week 4 rolls along, it will be JJ Watt who will be doing the worrying.
  19. Hmm... a double twist. What a tangled web we wave
  20. So would you say we beat a better team in Week 1 ?
  21. I am going to go with a L @ Lions. As good as the Texans D is, I just have a hard time seeing us lose to a Fitz led team, especially with the Bills playing so well on D.
