  1. They are giving up the 6th fewest yards/game pretty much the standard measure for overall defense. The above stat may be related to short field position their 28th ranked offense is giving to their opponents.
  2. Against what was the #7 defense in the league, if I may add.
  3. You start off by saying that and then proceed to list excuses of why we shouldn't be excited about the win. Reading the rest of your post indicates that you may pretend to be 'happy' but really want to throw a lot of water on the fire of a win.
  4. Considering the options Rex Ryan has, I am willing to give him a pass for not benching Smith quickly. Blame (err... bless) their FO for not having the foresight to sign a competent backup. Heck, Orton was there to be had but it was the Bills that got him.
  5. I agree about the Texans game but yesterday, there were ample opportunities to throw more. The run-run-pass-punt was getting tiresome. But I think it was because of the game situation where Marrone just did not want any of Ortons '1 interception per game' to jeopardize the momentum. If Vick had shown some semblance of mounting a strong comeback in the second half, I bet we would have seen more passes. But I am speculating and need to see more games before a pattern emerges.
  6. I recall Jauron's teams being soft and conservative no matter who the opponent. It bears watching but the run/pass ratio by Marrone appears to be tuned to the opponent and the game situation.
  7. I argue that this 'middle ground' needs to be a constant for any organization whether coming off a winning or losing season. Cannot stand still in the NFL
  8. Neither is it a rallying cry for 'cleaning house' as was the premise to this discussion
  9. How many times has that happened ? Compare that to the times he has diagnosed a play and made a stop at or behind the line of scrimmage. He has shown passion and being a lower round pick, worked his way up. He needs to continue being a Bill. Agreed Safe to say that Whaley knows linebackers.
  10. In the past we would be on the other side of that equation. We were the sad sacks who would lose several games by less than three. The ones about who Belichick said once, 'tough to play, easy to beat'. The ones who didn't know how to win. The view is decidedly greener from this side, no ? Or do you just not want to enjoy the win and record ?
  11. Get throw and catch. Should have gone for 2
  12. Bwaaaahaaaaa. Another run
  13. Just two scores up with more than a quarter to go. This is where the Pats* nail games shut.
  14. With the receiving power we have and two starting RBs out, we don't pass!
  15. Can we please not run on every first down
  16. Charles with the recovery
  17. They may have Pryor spy and cheat to cover Watkins leaving opportunities for Woods and Hogan.
  18. R.I.P. didn't realize he also played with John Mayall
  19. For the teams with confirmed or marginal (Cutler, Matt Ryan) franchise QBs, a significant percent of the cap is tied up at that position. For better or for worse, the Bills do not have this 'problem' and appear to be a few years away from it. Till that time, it is fair game to spread the dollars to the rare skills and pro-bowl type performers. Dareus certainly fits that mold however his past off-field troubles stop me from advocating insane guaranteed dollars. As NoSaint advocates, it is in the Bills interest to stretch his contract and tag him till he proves himself to be trouble free. That may not be a luxury the Bills have as there are a lot of variables that come into play - Dareus holding out, other teams willing to overlook his troubles and still pay him etc. Be that as it may, I think $51 M guaranteed for any position is ridiculous.
  20. Nice pic and thanx for sharing. Even makes SDS look like a nice guy. BTW, why no Bills gear ?
  21. Tim Anderson ?
  22. Lol. Who can turn that down?
