  1. When the Colts were defeated by New England in the playoffs last year, there were so many complaints to the league from Indianapolis about the clutching and grabbing by the Patriots secondary that the pass defense rules were changed in the offseason. The new rules definitely benefit the receivers. (IMO there was nothing wrong with the old rules -- just a problem with the refs not calling the existing rules as written.) Not only have Payton Manning and his receivers taken advantage of the rule changes this year, the officiating is cracking down on Denver, specifically safety John Lynch. Lynch was recently fined $75,000 for his hit on Colts tight end Dallas Clark, and threatened with ejection the next time he makes what they term an illegal hit. NFL won't take back threat of Lynch ejection IMO this will have the officials keeping an eye on everything defenses do against Colt receivers in the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised to see today's game come down to calls in the Colts' favor. BTW, it's time for them to stop blaming others for their failure to get the job done in the playoffs. Just shut up and do it.
  2. He should have remembered what his opponent said, "You play to WIN the game!!!"
  3. I agree. Schottenheimer is predictably conservative in a situation like that. The Jets were waiting for the Chargers to run instead of taking a few shots at the end zone or a first down. I think TMQ would call Marty's call a "mincing fraidy-cat failure to seize the day".
  4. I don't know about Jackson, but Paul Maguire is definitely stewed. On the Seahawks special teams: "They STINK!" Thanks Paul.
  5. Much ado about nothing if you ask me. A certain sportwriter in Boston is putting this out there as some big controversy....it's a slow sports news week here.
  6. Which Scion? The xB is the one that looks like a box on wheels. However, the xA is a neat little hatchback, and the tC is a sporty coupe.
  7. It's one thing to look good against Baylor or Kansas, but the Sooners weren't playing some patsy from the Big 12 last night. USC has a football team that excells in all facets of the game. OU didn't play a team with that kind of passing game or talent on offense all year.
  8. You know what the difference between Ashlee Simpson and Milli Vanilli is? Those Milli Vanilli guys could dance. Lawd, lawd....that girl looks like she's having convulsions.
  9. OMG///Jones just fumbled.........SC gets the ball back with :53 left in the half
  10. I expected more from OU's defense, but it looks like they haven't played against a passing attack like USC's before.
  11. Make it three scores after OU turnovers......White looking Bledsoe-esque so far.
  12. You never know how young players are going to react in the bright spotlight of a national championship team...even well coached kids can have a brain cramp. OU better eliminate the mistakes because they can't give USC's offense too many cracks at the end zone. **** Wow....Leinart just threw a td bomb.....two scores after Sooner turnovers
  13. I didn't say "ever." Those are your words. Yawn
  14. The coaches should make the call according to the situation and the personnel they have on the field. If McGahee is running well and you have third and short, well, duh. I'm not going to argue with you RKfast for the sake of arguing. There's enough posters here that play that game.
  15. Wasn't having Bledsoe pass on third and short -- and failing-- one of the things that got Kevin Gilbride crucified on this board last year? It boggles the mind. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." -- Albert Einstein
  16. I dunno if I'd use that analogy. Ford drivers have won the last two NASCAR titles (Kenseth and Busch)
  17. This is not surprising. Wasn't it a given that he would be traded if McGahee panned out? I'm more concerned about losing Jonas Jennings to free agency to be frank.

  19. Another great bit of PR for the NHLPA.
  20. This is the same Aaron Brooks that made ESPN SportsCenters 10 worst plays of the year by pitching the ball 20 yards backward in a fit of panic and a moment of sheer stupidity.

  23. Good thing Tommy has that second career selling insurance to fall back on.
