Yeah, there are tons of bandwagon riders here in New England. Especially in my office.
Last week I had a co-worker tell me they were a big Patriots fan -- but they didn't watch football until the playoffs started because they were bored by the regular season! I wanted to vomit when I heard that.
One of these chowderheads was giving me the business about being a big Pats fan, and I asked them to name 5 players from their 1986 AFC champs team. THEY COULDN'T REMEMBER ONE! I asked them if they enjoyed watching Jim Nance and Gino Capelletti back in the day, and they looked at me blankly. (And it wasn't a 20-something kid I was talking to but someone in their 50s.)
Oh sure, they've had long-time fans who have been with the team since they had hard times at Fenway, Harvard, or Schaefer Stadium. To those fans, I say congratulations today.
But the chowderheads in their freshly minted Corey Dillon jersey who are bragging about the team should take some history lessons and learn to be gracious winners.
