  1. Here's a better one done by someone who actually studies all the players game film. My link
  2. That's also the reason we're seeing these prolific passing numbers. NFL defenses haven't caught up with the offenses spreading them all over the field. Still have LB's trying to run with Tight Ends and WR's. Barron is a Safety/LB hybrid that is a playmaker against the pass and also stout against the run. Keuchly is good in coverage but I'd rather have a guy like Barron who is a difference maker against the pass.
  3. In the new age, pass-happy NFL, strong safeties that can hit and cover are the new tackling machines/Zach Thomas's. Kuechly is a good player and wouldn't be upset if we got him, but I'd rather have a guy like Barron. Barron would be an upgrade over Bryan Scott, who was on the field a lot. Wilson isn't getting any younger either.
  4. If this factors into a team's decision-making process, the front office should be fired. The bust factor has to be 30-40% for 1st rounders in general, probably more for QB's. On top of that, most franchises would extend a good QB long before the final year of his rookie deal. So there's probably a less than 25% chance a QB would be playing out the final year of his rookie deal. You're talking about a 25% chance at paying $6m more five years from now. For other positions, it will be a lot less than $6m, but the probability is probably higher that a non-QB would play out the 5th year of his rookie deal, but still not greater than 50%.
  5. Size-wise, Kalil is very similar to Pears at the end of the 2010 season. Nix wanted him tp put on 20 pounds, and I'm sure he'd ask the same of Kalil. That said, a top 3 guy should be ready to go today. Can understand why some scouts/experts are luke-warm on Kalil. Also, Schefter was the 1st to call Von Miller to Denver when everyone had Dareus pegged to Denver. If Shefter is saying Vikings aren't taking Kalil, I believe him.
  6. Not to mention teams behind us like Arizona or Chicago would try to move up once he started to drop. Bills would probably need to go up to #5 if they want Kalil.
  7. 1. Kirkpatrick after trade down with Philly or Dallas 2. Glenn 3. Quick
  8. This has to be the dumbest thing I've read yet in regards to to the draft. Leave it to a Belichik disciple to over-analyze. If Tannehill is a franchise QB, you extend him before the 5th year anyway. If he's not, you'll know long before the 5th year. If it's not a QB, you're not even talking about a $1m difference in year 5.
  9. It works both ways in that teams like the Bills will be more willing to trade down than they would have in the past. Just means that you're not gonna get as much trading down but you still have to field the best team possible. Barron is much more valuable to the Cowboys than the Bills because Barron is a huge upgrade over what the Cowboys have. Kuechly is more valuable to the Bills than the Cowboys.
  10. Seems like a consensus is starting to form after the top 6 guys and Tannehill. Cox, Barron, Kuechly and Gilmore are the next 4 guys. Could see Dallas or Philly giving up a 3rd to move up to #10 and get one of those guys. Both teams are aggressive and have Manning, Vick, Romo, and now RG3 in the division. I guess the Browns could move up to #10 also if Tannehill doesn't go to Dolphins.
  11. Luck, Griffin, Richardson, Claiborne, Kalil, Blackmon, Cox, Barron, Kuechly, Ingram, Gilmore
  12. Seems like New England has had multiple 1st and 2nd round picks for 10 years. Not sure any team has done less with that many prime picks at its disposal. They've drafted numerous DB's in the top 2 rounds who've been busts. Brady and Belichik have masked their mediocre/sub-par drafting.
  13. One last thought is that if we do end up staying at #10 and taking one of the defensive playmakers, I don't think we can sit and wait for a tackle at pick #41. I think we'd have to go up and get whomever is left of Martin, Glenn, or Adams at the end of the 1st. Looking like we're not gonna be able to find a WR and Tackle with our first 2 picks.
  14. Kuechly also belongs in the names of guys no one has us taking who's visited us. Think Cox will be gone, Ingram doesn't have the prototype size Nix likes, so that leaves Barron, the 2 CB's, and Kuechly.
  15. Nix was basically spelling it out to everyone today without actually saying it that we aren't taking who the mock drafts have us taking. If you go by who visited us that would mean Cox, Ingram, Barron, or one the 2 CB's.
  16. I agree. Interesting how he said most Pro Bowl LT's are drafted in the 1st 8-9 picks. Nix must be a pretty bad poker player. In my un-informed opinion, I think the Bills take Kuechly or one of the CB's if they stay at #10.
  17. Would love if Bills took him but don't think he lasts to #10. He's the faster, stronger, blue-collar version of Fairley. Watched 3-4 games of all his plays on Youtube. The guy lives in the backfield and was lined up at both end and tackle. Start him at DE and move him inside on passing downs.
  18. Thanks. Guess we can cross off Floyd and Reiff. From that visit list, Bills are covered from pick #3 to pick #20.
  19. With the roster now in relatively decent shape numbers-wise, I'd rather stay at #10 and take the higher rated player than take the 20th rated player on our board and pick up more picks.
  20. Don't like the trade for the simple fact that I can't see more than 7 or 8 draft picks making the team. Taking a look at the Bills depth chart, I see room for 1 QB, 1 TE, 1 WR, 2 OT's, 2 LB's, and 1 DB at most. We don't need more 5th round picks this year.
  21. Judging from the visit list and if we stay at #10, it's between Cox, Kirkpatrick, Gilmore, Ingram, Barron, Glenn, Martin, Adams and Tannehill. I'll say Kirkpatrick.
  22. Thanks for the list. Fletcher Cox is most surprising on that list. Guy is a monster and would love to have him, but certainly not a position of need. He might fit the title of Best Player Available at #10. Interesting how many 1st round types the Bills have brought in. Guys not projected to be available at #10 and guys projected to go in the teens and twenties. Bills draft board is either way different than most of the internet experts or Nix is considering moving around.
  23. Don't like the idea of taking a guy at #10 who isn't ready to play, but guess that's how the NFL works nowadays when it comes to QB's.
  24. I wouldn't totally be against the idea of taking Tannehill. Sounds like he needs some time before he'll be ready to play. Fitz gets another year and Tannehill learns behind him. I like Fitz but if the goal is to win a Super Bowl, we'll definitely need an upgrade down the line. As Nix says, always better to take a QB when you don't desperately need one.
  25. Pretty sure anyone would trade a 1st and 2nd rounder to get a franchise LT, especially now that rookie contracts are so team-friendly. Our other major need is WR, where there happens to be a ton a depth in this draft and you can probably get a good one in the 3rd round.
