  1. Nothing's gonna happen until money changes hands, but you can bet the IRS would be sniffing around once they are sold if Ralph publicly made assurances. If he made assurances that team will only be sold to group that keeps them in Buffalo, he's lowering the selling price. My un-informed opinion is team is sold to Buffalo group once Ralph passes and team plays 2 games in December in Toronto going forward. NFL has too much of a corporate image already. Buffalo, with all its small market warts, is an old school authentic NFL franchise. My guess is that the NFL would prefer keeping the franchise in Buffalo while getting a slice of the Toronto/Canadian market without destroying the CFL and all the negative press that would come with it.
  2. Never suggested that Ralph has a handshake agreement in place, just that the IRS does not take kindly to tax avoidance schemes of that nature.
  3. If Ralph came out and said Bills are getting sold to such-and-such group when I die to calm Bills fans, IRS could deem that sale effectively happened before he died and come after his estate for the capital gains tax.
  4. Agree with this. If IRS found out Ralph had a plan or agreement in place to sell team before he died, they could rightfully come after his estate for the capital gains tax.
  5. Actually, avoiding approximately $150m capital gains tax is the reason Ralph won't sell before he dies. Ralph's heirs get the tax basis of the value of the team ($700-800m estimated) the day he dies, instead of Ralph paying a 20% capital gains tax on his $25k investment if he sells before then. No way to avoid estate taxes.
  6. Don't think there's any way around not playing at least 2 end of season games in Toronto. No need for a dome if there's no December games in Buffalo. Gotta imagine no dome significantly drops the projected cost.
  7. I think it would be very difficult to re-locate a team to a city as close as Toronto is to Buffalo. There would be so much bad will and you're basically eliminating the current Bills fanbase from ever supporting a Toronto team. Safe to say, 80-90% of Bills fans would never support the Toronto Bills, Canadian fans included. Could see a scenario where all post-Thanksgiving home games are in Toronto though.
  8. Didn't read the whole thread. Is there someone in the Rogers family who has the individual wealth to buy the Bills? NFL doesn't allow corporate ownership.
  9. +1. I think Bills are smart money to win this week. Jets roughed up Bills earlier in season, Bills coming off a stinker, EJ with something to prove against Geno, and I'm sure Marrone didn't like Rex out-coaching him last time.
  10. Hard to be aggressive when you're backed up inside your 5 yard line. Game was lost when defense couldn't force a 3-and-out on 1st-and-20 on the first possession of overtime.
  11. Disagree, but hard to argue with this line of thinking.
  12. Don't think he's been the same since he had his knee taken out in the Redskins pre-season game.
  13. Don't know if Freeman is too much of a head-case, but Bills have to bring in someone who is starting or at least back-up caliber. Owe it to the other players and fans to at least have a chance to win games.
  14. Gronkowski's gonna have ridiculous numbers when he comes back. Brady has no one to throw too. If Brady didn't have Amendola last week, we win the game.
  15. Was very impressed by Tuel. Throws a great ball and knows where he wants to go with it. Worried about his slow release though. Really cocks the ball behind his head. Hope he keeps up the good play and keeps getting snaps.
  16. Haha. i thought that sideline reporter was gonna start giving shoulder rubs.
  17. I'm no d-line expert, but Troupe gets no movement or penetration. Not sure if he's coached to stay stationary, but looks like he couldn't run around an orange cone. Think it was the Hasselback-Hilton TD, where Hughes ran a nice inside stunt opening up a lane to the QB for Troupe, but Troupe couldn't dis-engage from his blocker.
  18. Agreed but the randomness of teams like Kansas City and Buffalo being on the opposite ends of the spectrum in regards to playing teams with more rest suggests that NFL doesn't use that as 1 of its parameters.
  19. It isn't hard to add a constraint to a scheduling/decision matrix that divisional opponents can't play each other coming off more rest. It's not a conspiracy by the NFL. Point the Bills are making is that NFL doesn't attempt to control for this and it would be very easy to do. Any MBA student could do it.
  20. Who's saying anything about a conspiracy? The Bills have sucked for 13 years. Teams should not have extra rest for its 6 divisional games. Not a hard concept to grasp.
  21. Given their importance, no team should be given additional rest before a divisional game. Bills absolutely right to gripe about that.
  22. After watching some youtube game film, not much flash to his game. Reminds me of some of those old school hoops players who were smooth in their movements and didn't look particularly quick until they went by you. Surprised how strong his arm was for a guy who doesn't step/hop into his passes. For him to be as successful as we want him to be, think he's gonna have to dial up the intensity. Playing that under control worked when he was way more talented than the competition, but from the 5-6 games I watched he left you wanting more. Hope he's got it in him.
  23. Ralph channeling his inner Al Davis. Bills having a Raiders-type draft. Actually kind of like it, considering how boring this team has been the past decade.
  24. I think you're on the money again. Athletically, Collins isn't much different from Mingo. Guy is a physical freak and has had more production. Hunter and Rogers also fill the need of a bigger WR who can stretch the field. Who are we targeting in the 3rd round?
  25. With the new rookie wage scale, that study is basically irrelevant.
