  1. Find a good back or spinal specialist. Taking any advice without medical expertise is risky. My experience is having a herniated disc at L4-L5. I tried chiro, accupuncture and electrical stim. Nothing helped. Once I found a good specialist he did epidurals with a steroid/novacaine mix. It relieved the pain and leg symptoms. Then I did Mackenziie exercises to improve lordosis. I've had this since 1994 and have occasional flare ups but with quality medical care I have avoided surgery. Spinal surgery can be a crapshoot and both a neurosurgeon and orthopod surgeon have told me to avoid surgery if I can. Beware treating this without medical expertise. PS pain meds landed me in rehab. My experience was as you indicated - you get a buzz but no true pain relief. Be very careful because pain meds are highly addictive to some folks - both emotionally and physically. Good Luck to you Chef!
  2. How could you tell? If he were any slower, he'd be crawling!
  3. I think the red helmets should be forever retired as they are emblematic of the Kelly and Super Bowl(s) era. Let them stand as a reminder of those days. The white look great - current unis are my all-time favorite. The blue helmets are intriguing though......
  4. As a Bills fan for 46 years, this certainly doesn't surprise me. But it does take the sails out of our wind a little bit.
  5. There are many good public radio stations out there streaming for free, including 24/7 music-only channels of their playlists. KCRW is my current favorite, WFUV is another one I have listened to for the past 5-6 years.
  6. "How about a nice cup of shut the %$#@ up!" Love your avatar!
  7. Hamilton? Hamilton?? Really?? C'mon man!!!! Let's get real. NFL will NEVER be in Hamilton. Now, St. Catherines on the other hand........
  8. C'mon now, there's no reason to bring Mary Wilson's taint into this!
  9. Please tell me this wasn't your first clue!
  10. Joke's on you Ralph! I just printed every one of those paintings off the website and am hanging them in my bathroom right now.
  11. Well, he DID say it's "one of the good things" about Buffalo. He wasn't bitching about it - AND - It might make us more attractive to free agents from the Edmonton Eskimos.
  12. I'd be on board with the Washington Gingers, especially if they trade for Andy Dalton. But honestly I think I have become immune to the term since I've heard it pretty much all my life (at least 45 years anyway) in association with the team. But when I really think about what the term means it is an offensive and derogatory term in my mind. Here in Syracuse, Ive heard a lot of black Americans call each other the N-word. But I've never heard a Native American call another Native American "Redskin". And the Onondaga tribe is pretty well represented around here.
  13. "Refurbishing The Ralph is slapping paint on a crumbling pile of rocks". (Jerry Sullivan, 5/22/14)
  14. I'd prefer a stadium with covered seating areas (maybe not all, but at least half under cover) and otherwise be open air. I kind of enjoy snow games, but rain games are a B word.
  15. Well, HSBC has a rigid roof. If he is thinking about inflatable domes, the one here in Syracuse hasn't had too many problems handling snow loads. They have had to shovel it off a few times though... http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2010/12/manager_of_syracuses_carrier_d.html
  16. Minneapolis got their second Super Bowl, as a bow to their new stadium. Would Buffalo get the same perk?
  17. Even when you are sober?
  18. I'm old, but I think the 70s were the golden days for me. TV really took off - Monday Night Football, Jimmy the Greek, Phyllis George - and some of the old guys were still doing games (Curt Gowdy, Charlie Jones, Howard Cosell). The Super Bowl grew into a major event. Great QBs - Bradshaw, Tarkenton, Brodie, Namath, Dawson, Lamonica (ouch). The long ball was alive and well. Bills home games were fun, as always, but the excitement over MNF in 1973 - 1976 was tremendous. Just a great time to be a fan.
  19. Ooooo..think of the hissy fits! It's bad enough they went up to 4 and got him, the way some have reacted. People would have lost their minds if they jumped to 1. Hell, we have 6 pages on the cutting of an UDFA WR fattened up to a TE! Would have been fun to watch on here though.....
  20. Sorry in case this has already been posted in another thread..... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24563638/bills-tried-to-trade-up-to-no-1-still-landed-sammy-watkins-at-no-4 Bills certainly were all in on Sammy. Think what the reaction here would have been if they gave up everything Houston wanted!
  21. whooppee for the players. For fans of the Bills, Browns and Jaguars it should be legal to use crack, heroin and LSD...anything that dulls the pain.
  22. Second that. I haven't been this surprised and pumped since we signed TO. Might have to make another purchase on Stubhub this weekend....
  23. With respect to Whaley's comment, I'm assuming he was saying there "wasn't that much difference" between Watkins and Evans. So, my first thought was "why not trade for Evans then, assuming it would have cost less?" But perhaps they figured the price was going to be steep either way and they may as well go all in. It's just a surprising comparison considering Watkins was the highest rated guy on their board. Must be they had Evans right up there too.
  24. Haven't looked at all 400+ posts to see if this has been posted yet, but it is pretty surprising to me: Q: What was the biggest difference between him and the next receiver on your board? DW: I wouldn’t say there was that much. Obviously there is a difference and that is why we coveted Sammy. Not to give any particulars, there wasn’t that much of a difference. To give up a # 1 and # 4 next year for a guy that "wasn't much difference" compared to the next WR is surprising. You'd think Whaley would have promoted Watkins as being head and shoulders above the next WR (pun intended).
  25. it needs to be said: It's on like a MOFO
