  1. You should have thrown in your stance on guns for good measure.....gotta be "all in" 😎
  2. That's pretty stupid
  3. What were the two games that didn't make the cut?
  4. Hell, fans stormed the field after the 1980 opener against the Fins, ending a full decade of losses against them. We might burn some cars in the parking lot if we clinch a berth at home.
  5. Going old school: Dennis Shaw had one good season - ROY - and zip after that. I really thought he was going to be something. Jaime Mueller had one good game (statistically speaking) when he caught the winning TD pass from Kelly in final minutes against Jets. That was the biggest of his 4 career TDs. I was at that game watching from the opposite end zone. Preston Ridlehuber had one great play - a halfback option pass for a long TD that helped Bills beat Pats in a 1969 night game. I remember the radio call and wondering "who is that guy"? He was filling in for an injured OJ.
  6. Nothing against you personally, but this seems a little harsh to me. Yes, he's a young kid apparently suffering from addiction who (surprise!) acts like an a-hole. A lot of kids his age are cocky and act like a-holes too. I believe they deserve to live as much as JM deserves to live. Addiction is a B word, and until you either suffer from it, or have a loved one struggle with it, it is very hard to relate to it. Some people have a difficult time believing that addiction is a disease, and therefore feel it's just a bad person making bad choices. One of the most ironic moments of my life was being in a counseling session with one of my daughters and her telling the therapist and I that alcoholism isn't a disease, it's lack of discipline. And I was right in there, arguing it's a disease, all the while saying I wasn't an alcoholic, and by the way, there wasn't any way I was going to stop drinking. Insanity. It's part of the package. I see JM's behavior and recognize it very well. I also see his father's behavior and statements, and recognize that as well. There are many, many cases I've seen in my recovery where people were far beyond the ability of anyone to help them, including themselves. It wasn't until there was some type of intervention, that is, a spiritual one, that some people finally see themselves honestly and decide to ask for help. I have seen people recover from seemingly insurmountable bottoms, and they are the inspiration for myself and many others. It would be really great if JM was one of those people.
  7. Make sure your girlfriends all know that once you're married, there's no more over-nighters. It's all nooners from now on.
  8. There is a book called "Rockin' the Rockpile" by Jeffrey Miller. I have a copy and it's very good. My memories are of the neighborhood around the stadium and being scared to death. Also remember cars that were parked in front yards were up on blocks with no wheels after the game. The scoreboard end zone, if I remember correctly, had no bleachers or seats - just concrete "steps". It was awesome walking through that wasteland of a neighborhood and shell of a stadium, only to walk through the ramp and see that bright green field and red buffalo logo. This was before we owned a color TV, so seeing those colors and the bright blue uniforms was stunning. The echoes inside the stadium hallways added to the excitement before the game and the smells of hot dogs and peanuts were mouth-watering. Hoping you wouldn't have to sit behind a post in the area under the roof. Lots of good memories of that place. Years later saw Jimmy Buffet play there after a Bisons game. Early 1980s and a gorgeous hot day!
  9. The book "Relentless" has a recap of the game and it just says a knee injury that did not require surgery. Ha! I have, but it took me another 39 years and lots more miserable lessons, many of which involved the Bills.
  10. Man this thread is depressing - I have been to so many of these games. November 8, 1970: I was 11, and my Dad had gotten tickets for him, Mom and I to sit in the best seats under the roof. Seven bucks a piece and it seemed like way too much money to spend, and I was so excited. The tickets were on the bulletin board for months and I would just stare at them. Morning of the game, Dad is acting strange and finally takes me for a walk and tells me his heart isn't feeling well and he can't go to the game. My sister goes in his place and my Mom somehow takes us down to the Rockpile. Drunk kids spill wine on my Bills blanket and burn cigarette holes in it. OJ tears up his knee on a KO return and is out for season. Bills lose 43-14. Worst day of my young life. That's also the day I decided to take up drinking
  11. OJ as a player. FJ as a man and player. Honorable mentions to Stevie Johnson and Anthony Hargrove. Both guys would interact with the crowd as we leaned over the wall during warm ups, and would give a long row of high fives before leaving the field. I'm 57 now and that made me feel like a kid again!

  15. It's threads like this that make me wonder why more women don't post on OTW. They'd get a real education

  17. Never had that happen, but I hate it when my johnson splashes into the bowl. Gotta reel it in like a garden hose.

  22. For a fan base that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in a football generation, what else is there to get excited about? Wish we were playing another team - all white for the Jets is uninspired and pretty much what they've worn through much of their history.
