  1. Please don't sully my reputation (such as it is). .
  2. Not hard at all. What you describe is me. I was just wondering why people would want to hide the fact they are reading a certain writer's stuff. The post in question said "if you hate them both as much as I do" and then went on to describe a method for continuing to read the hated writer's pieces without the website owner's knowledge. I find that odd, maybe childish, that's all.
  3. So you're saying this method will allow people who hate to read Sully and Bucky to continue reading them without being detected?
  4. yup Ha! http://www.syracuse.com/poliquin/index.ssf/2015/12/bud_poliquin_the_hack_shouldnt_be_allowed_near_su_athletic_program_plus_other_th.html
  5. Yes, I lived there for 26 years, and have gone back every Jan/Feb for the past 28 years. I live in Syracuse - it's not much different here, just substitute Orange basketball. The newspaper here has a curmudgeon too. It's all going to be OK. And no you don't have to choose between Chris Brown and Jerry Sullivan. Look around and explore a little, there's many good writers out there - one or more will have the point of view you find palatable and won't "drag you down'. I think - you seem to be a bit like Joe Btfsplk.
  6. $6K for the Google name is a far bigger travesty than $30K for a crappy tape that isn't even needed now. That sounds rather greedy and shady.
  7. There's always Chris Brown to read! Obviously, the News is in the money business and they would not have him there if he wasn't making them money in some fashion. That's free enterprise and free speech working right there. If a person lets a newspaper columnist "drag them down", then there might be other issues present. I have family in Buffalo and go back every couple months and have never felt whatever negative mojo you feel. You aren't bringing it with you, are you?
  8. I think a lot more people would be on the little guy's side if he had a sound legal position, but he doesn't seem to. If someone was trying to get something over on you that the law didn't allow for, wouldn't you want protection of said law? I wonder if the guy would have taken the $30K if he didn't read SI and get lawyered up.
  9. No, and no. Not at all. But they don't have to read the stuff they find offensive to their sensibilities either. Or they can protest the News/advertisers. Or they can B word on a message board. I just think all of that is interesting. Does the fact you don't find it interesting mean your feelings are hurt by what Sully writes?
  10. Norm in your case = common. "Not normal" in my case meant not mentally well. There's a difference. That's why there's a name for it - "battered woman syndrome".
  11. I haven't seen a suggestion to suppress the fans' opinions. I am suggesting they are interesting.
  12. I wonder if the NFL spent more or less than $30K creating the special they just televised. I'm thinking more. From the article, it sounds like the quality of the tape is really not even up to the quality standards for broadcasting. I wonder if it was actually broadcast-quality whether the NFL would have forked over a lot more. I think so, but no way would they pay $1M. Just because SI quoted that estimated value doesn't make it so.
  13. The chicks will do that to ya.
  14. Some reactions seem like people are taking it personal, and are accompanied by personal attacks on him - name calling, calls for him to lose his job, etc. Geez, he's writing opinions about a football team! How unimportant can it get? I have my own allegiance to the Bills, but honestly, who cares what someone else says about "my" team? Knock yourself out Sully, just make it interesting and I'll probably read it.
  15. I think when there are repeated domestic violence altercations, going back to the ex is not normal. Mental illness wasn't meant as a pejorative term, it's a medical one.
  16. It's interesting that someone who is paid to write opinions that elicit a response from readers is disliked so intensely for doing his job. Clearly, if the News didn't like his work, they would reassign him and hire someone to write more publicly-pleasing opinions.
  17. Co-dependence? Mental illness? Alcoholism? The choices are endless.
  18. I used to buy DVDs of game broadcasts on eBay all the time until the NFL (I assume) cracked down on eBay and now those sellers are very reluctant to do anything other than "trade" for other games they don't have. So, there must be a legal reason, or a good threat of it, that prevents that guy from doing an open bid or sale of that tape.
  19. Guess I missed that post. Who fingered him?
  20. Article stated she went to his hotel room after bar hopping with her girlfriends, and surprise! yet another argument broke out. That girl's parents need to get her some help as well.
  21. Have any media outlets outside of Buffalo even identified Sully as the person asking those questions? How can Sully be an embarrassment to the News if no one even knows who asked the questions?
  22. That girl is as nutty as he is. She must not have seemed very credible to the police, given that they didn't arrest him. Not defending him, just saying they are both nuts.
