  1. Center is a weird position. They are probably the second smartest guys on the team but most centers are arguably the worst blockers (they have help on each side). I think while it is important to have a good, smart C, they are thought to be the most replaceable o line position. I think they are lowest drafted non kicking team position on average. but it’s an interesting point. Imagine if the Bills got McCaffery last year? He single handedly changed the 49ers season. Henry used to carry the Titans garbage offense.
  2. With football and how they treat players with non guaranteed money, it has to be about the money. I guess the way to think about it are the Titans like $6 million/ year worse than the Bills? If I was Hopkins, I won’t think so.
  3. Good point and I won’t disagree that passing is much more effective just like 3 pointers are better than long 2s. the point all the nerds who never played a sport past little league miss is there is a mental part of being physical. Ask any o linemen if they would rather pass block or run block. Jokic is such a skilled big man but he would also go inside and physically dominant and beat up guys. The more guys get hit, they stop being as aggressive. Pass rushers love team that just throw the ball. It’s makes their jobs easier. KC kicked into a different gear when Panceho emerged. you can pass a million times again but football, especially in the playoffs and cold, can sometimes be a game where physically manhandling someone can go a long way as well. The Bengals, their running game especially, manhandled us. The Eagles physically manhandled teams last year.
  4. Eh. gurley had damaged knees coming into the nfl. And those Rams team with Gurley were way better than the Rams team that won it (they are one of the worse recent SB winners).
  5. The phrase Oklahoma drills triggers me haha. Nothing better than going away to Army’s campus for training camp for 10 days and 3 a day practices. But you could win a t shirt for good Oklahoma drill win though (still have one)! football is so easy now.
  6. https://www.footballdb.com/statistics/nfl/player-stats/all-purpose-yards/2022/regular-season 14 of the top 20 being rbs seems pretty high for complimentary pieces.
  7. If you were Barkley, would be happy Jones was making 4 times as much? Or Henry and Tannehill? you don’t see why players might get upset when Jones has averaged 15 td passes and 8.5 ints and is making 4 times as much as the best rb? What? You think when they were both in the titans, Brown was more valuable than Henry? That’s certainly a take Skip Bayless would be proud of Dave.
  8. I actually think the opposite could be true. Rbs could do real damage because of the rule changes. Imagine Henry here and we have a 4 receiver set. He would be racking up yards against defensive backs. That’s why he deserves to be the highest paid on that team because he is that offense.
  9. Let’s put in terms you might understand. At your job, you are in back making sure the fries and food goes out properly and tastes great. Now you have a goofy dork who works the cashier register who has been terrible for years. He had his best year, but he was still pretty terrible but he wasn’t getting orders wrong 7 times a day like he used to. Everyone knows how much better you are at your fry job than him. Yet, that goofy dork gets paid 4 more times that you. would you be happy?
  10. If I was Barkley, I would throw up every play I got a hand up from Jones thinking about what 15 td passes gets you paid. It’s not so much we ignored it. We just couldn’t get it right. It is also funny that we always had good rbs in our worst years. Now we have a stud qb who should make rbs jobs easier and we have to have like 5 guys because we can’t find a good stand alone rb
  11. Again with due respect, I think you are overselling how much it was just about winning. He is making a ton of money and is on a team that has a chance to make the SB. So it was a win win for him but he won’t be here if we offered hind $15 million/ year. the tough part is while Von was the bigger name, Matthew Judon was the player we should have targeted. Younger, cheaper, and ascending. Hopefully, von stays healthy because there are some bad patterns developing.
  12. Honestly, you have to see both sides and they both are valid. RBs age badly and rarely last long. So you get 100% why teams are hesitant to pay them. However imagine if you are Derrick Henry or Barkley and you are the offense. Meanwhile, your scrub qb is making 4 times as much as you. That’s pretty BS. You get destroyed physically, are a much, much better player but get 4 times less? I would be pissed too. im not 100 percent sure that solution. I do think the qb money has gotten out of control. Allen and Mahomes is one thing. But Daniel Jones and 15 td passes makes $40 million/ year is wild. I also think rbs should be allowed to go pro whenever they want once they are in college. Teams prostitute these dudes (both in college and see what the Flacons did to Jamal Anderson during their SB run) and then throw them away. It is one of the coolest positions in sports and they might get treated the worst. But that’s why the special ones - Henry, Barkley - who can shine with garbage qbs and mid o line play deserve bigger money. Eh, how many qbs making max money have won SBs recently? Mahomes’ contracf just kicked in, Brady always took discounts, etc. paying anyone top position money is not great for team success. but how many receivers making top money have won SBs? I can’t think of any (see KC trading Hill before winning a SB). Yet, their salaries keep escalating
  13. That’s fair but maybe a younger, athletic qb can take them to a new level and having Hopkins and a 1st round receiver is great to throw too. Lewan was overrated and hurt a lot. I also just think Vrabel maximizes his talent. we are still the better team but if somehow the Titans make the playoffs, they have the exact blueprint of teams that have given the Bills problems in the past.
  14. Why do you say that? They drafted an rb this year and qbs the last 2 years that they feel good about. I think they are going all out for a playoff run and bringing that gap for their qb and rb replacements. I kinda like what they are doing. I still will never respect the titans and their madden create a team franchise though. Eh, that’s kinda crazy. I would do that deal in a heartbeat. Those chiefs guys were a million times more talented coming out of college and are very young. The Bills guy have been journeymen and a 7th round rookie. Both groups have a lot to prove but 99% of fans would make that trade in a second.
  15. There could be several reasons for that as well. There was talk about mahomes getting rid of the ball quicker. One of Allen’s strengths is extending plays but that can led to more sacks. Also, it’s not like the Bills have ignored improving the oline. They have an expensive LT and C. They have tried other FAs. They have drafted guys. They traded away an all pro G. Von got an insane contract for his age and injury issues here. Let’s not pretend like he just came here to win. Dude is getting paid and it’s very clear he’s at the end of career. I definitely agree with the diva part of receivers. They are extremely annoying and put themselves before the team. but I think you should read up on Tyreek a little more. 😬
  16. Honestly, what the Chiefs have done with their receivers is not really that impressive to me. But you are right they are investing picks and making trades do improve it. But I think are receivers are better. I just think Mahomes is at a different level and him/ Reid can cover for their lack of talent.
  17. Should be practicing football instead of boring golf!!!! Steph Curry is such a ridiculous athlete.
  18. Well we didn’t win rings either. Brown was certifiably crazy and Watt was a broken player at the end of his career. Hopkins was super productive and never relied on speed. He still is a really really good player. Or he could have gotten a great contract with a team that was 7-3 last year with garbage receivers, that just has a better record than us the previous year.
  19. They won the SB after reading a top 5 receiver. For some reason, I just believe Mahomes would make their backup TE super productive. With all due respect, this is kinda silly. All players want the money and you are actually like Beane is Theo not GM with this mindset. Beane certainly didn’t have this mindset with Von and that is a contract that might age very badly. It is also handcuffing with free agents going forward as well
  20. So if Hopkins took significantly less to come to Buffalo , they wouldnt want him???! Wild take I’d love to bet this. I think Jones sucks but if he evens get bottom starter money after this contract, he will pass Hopkins.
  21. Haha, you sound delusional. Last year was the first losing season of Vrabels career. He is a top 5 coach in the nfl. I think Tannehill is not good but he is a game manager who hands off to a beast of a rb and their receivers, who were completely garbage, now added a guy who wasn’t too long ago considered the best receiver in football plus a 1st round guy last year. again, the Tannehill butt cheek factor is high but it would be stupid to underestimate them.
  22. Eh, their hands were tied financially. I like the hope of these new guys but looking at their careers, wild to get overly optimistic on them.
  23. McCoy has garbage rings. Hopkins would have actually been a contributor here so I guess it would have been different here. But I never blame any nfl player for getting every cent they can. It blows my mind that Daniel Jones will make more in his career than Hopkins. Honestly Titans- Jags games will be good matchups. But on paper, each of those teams get a chance at 4 east wins this year.
  24. These posts are funny to me. I mean if get it he’s a qb where scrubs like Daniel Jones make $40 million a year. But what do you think Shady McCoy cares about more - his 2 garbage rings or the money he made when he was a star player? also, I’ve long thought Tannehill is butt cheeks but D’Hop’s whole career has been playing with butt cheek qbs. Vrabel is one of the best coaches in the nfl, they have possibly the best rb in football, aren’t that far removed from a nice playoff run, play maybe in the worst division in the nfl, and are a tough matchup for us. better than him going to KC for sure but I won’t be shocked if the Titans make some noise this year despite butt cheeks Tannehill. Honestly, and know they are division rivals but I’d rather him go to the Pats. I think this takes the Titans up in the afc because of their garbage division.
