  1. Haha, am I not making it clear? i try to be consistent. I never got the Allen hype going into the draft. Guys like him rarely work out. I prayed for the Jets or Browns to draft him (I wonder how Allen would be talked about if he was on another team here). The guy has all the tools and seems like a great dude. I have zero questions about his work ethic. But is it too much to ask for a guy to have better rookie year than EJ Manuel?
  2. Haha, Whaley was responsible for Zay??? That’s hilarious. SM hired Zay’s college coach and they traded up to draft him. Just like he drafted Rocky Proehl’s son because he was friends with him. The Bills had a top 10 offense under Whaley. He built a receiver core of Watkins, Woods, Hogan, and Goodwin. All this thread made me do is what to bring back Whaley. also fun fact, Josh Allen is the type of QB Whaley would have loved.
  3. Honest question: at what point can you say Allen (49% at Juco, 56% at Wyoming, 51.7% nfl) struggles with accuracy? His receivers suck but this has been the story of his career.
  4. Who said he couldn’t play in the league? The question is whether he is a franchise qb. He obviously has a ton of talent which is why we drafted him so high, despite some very apparent flaws. and yes, Allen would be better on KC but I don’t think Andy Reid would draft a guy like Allen in the first place. That’s why when SM got the call from Reid to trade at the trade, he should have just pick Mahomes. The idea that guys who made this talentless offense picked a qb that high terrifies me. What has McBean shown about knowing offense? We need to hire an offensive evaluator this offseason.
  5. Exactly! Touch! Besides having a cannon, watch the touch Mahomes has. I remember watching JP throw a 60 yard pass like nothing, and then bounce a 5 yard screen pass. I remember EJ rolling out and throwing a 80 yard bomb to Mike Williams with ease and then throw lawn darts to guys 10 yards away. Allen has every tool. But his touch passing is really, really bad and that’s what great qb have. He is a like a major league pitcher who throws a 100, but has no other pitches and struggles with control.
  6. Honest question, because I don’t remember because I was doing it, did folks do this for EJ or JP? Not saying Allen won’t be better but I don’t remember any player getting more excuses made than Allen? and he’s a rookie QB and will have plenty of time to prove himself. But it’s weird that people are working so hard to defend something that many people thought was issue for him in college. Haha. This is hilarious. Yup, the guy who didn’t make any of the all MWC teams, who struggles with accuracy, would be doing what Mahomes is doing. Mahomes might be the best qb in the nfl. Stop selling him short. If Allen was on the Jets, we would be laughing at his stats and saying he is a running back playing qb. Don’t lie, because it’s true. ?
  7. Or they have HOF QBs making great passes. I know Allen is a combo of Elway/ newton/ Steve young but he has a ways to go.
  8. Brees’ adjusted qb completion % must be 99%! this is my frustration with the way people defend Allen (and this is a Bills board so again I get it). It’s also how I probably sounded defending JP and EJ. 1) Wilson completed 73% of his passes his last year in college. Mahomes completed 66%. Now, I know Allen is never the rest for an incompletion, but he completed 56% and has never been better than that at any level. I know this is crazy, but maybe, Wilson and Mahomes throw more accurate and catchable passes. they talked about the arc Wilson throws on his deep passes. Mahomes makes throws sideways around defenders and throws at angles I’ve never seen before. They are really, really good. 2). The same front office that built this offense, drafted Allen. Maybe they just are terrible at scouting offense. I was screaming for them to take St Brown of Notre Dame (near a 100 yards yesterday) but they took a small, slot receiver who wasn’t even the best on his college team. They traded for KB after seeing him firsthand in Carolina!!! 3) Baldwin wasn’t drafted. Lockett was a 3rd. Robinson was a 4th. Zay Jones would be the highest drafted receiver on either teAm. At some point, when does the qb elevate the receivers? My god, Brady made a career of making stars out of scrubs. our receivers suck. That Foster one could have been a bad one. But at some point, can we hold the highest drafted QB in Bills history, a guy who has never been over 56%, accountable? It’s not all his fault but there’s a reason people question him going that high. He needs to be better.
  9. I believe that was exactly it. I remember being scared of Clay when we played them. Think about it, he did better with Tannehill throwing him the ball. but either way, it’s time to get some new blood. Enjoy he game and go Bills!
  10. I think you need to review their TE’s production. Clay, prior to this year, was far superior to any of them. and the Heisman winner is probably going to get more hype than the Wyoming guy. If Allen becomes the guy, he will get ball washes like every good qb does.
  11. So they had a HOF qb and a much more talented roster yet they won 9 games in 2 years? So maybe their roster wasn’t that superior or Lynn has done a good job.
  12. Rivers is a stat monster and a HOF. But he has a tendency for bad mistakes at crucial times.
  13. I mean if he was playing with Rodgers or Brees, it’s be one thing. We had a bottom 3 passing attack while he was here. Who would have been awesome here? i think Clay was a good, versatile player who struggled with injuries. Definitely time to move on but he was solid and upgrade over almost any TE on the last 15 years. that said, do what NE, and draft some monster TE who are match nightmares. I think Allen would thrive in a 2 TE type offense.
  14. I guess we forget he was our leading receiver for a couple seasons.
  15. Sure dude. There are plenty of people who trash Jackson while making every excuse for Allen. I had them tied as prospects coming out at the draft and imo, they are still tied. if Allen had Jackson’s production against that level in college instead I’d ehat he did in the MWC, there would be no criticism of him and he’d be the number 1 pick of the draft. But there are totally double standards here (it’s a bills board and I expect that but I call it like I see it) but Allen is closer as a passer to Jackson than Brees. But both are super young and have a lot of ability, so hopefully they both get there because it makes the nfl better.
  16. At the same point, his sack total has been going consistently down. He’s like a Robert Woods. Real solid player but should never be your number 1.
  17. But based on the position of qb, especially Bills one, shouldn’t we assume the same thing about Allen? And im not saying a 1st round pick. But middle to late and/ or bringing in another vet. I just say someone saying we have our Kelly/ Reich and hope the Bills don’t think like that. I completely agree with that. IMO, the first 3 picks need to be oline and receiver.
  18. Yup. You keep bringing in players. And Hoyer and Cassel, as limited as they are, are both spot starters and 10 year backup guys.
  19. Yup, I’ll give him credit for that. I assumed after he went after the ref, I assumed it was Jerry being an idiot again but I was wrong. But the question is how much is a guy getting older who is getting like 7 sacks/ year worth? And Frazier is Jauron after a beach vacation. ?
  20. You’re right. I thought they traded up for him. I’m so stupid!!! ? but my larger point is the team that has the greatest qb ever still doesn’t settle. They took cokehead Mallett, Hoyer, Jacoby, Jimmy G. I think that might be more qbs than he Bills have drafted in the same time. But yeah, I want note options than Allen (hopefully the franchise) and Matt Barkley (dime a dozen backup).
  21. Bills fans: Allen never misses passes, it’s all his receivers and oline fault. He’s a winner. also Bills fans: the Ravens win with Lamar holding him back. Also, he is really a running back. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JackLa00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo02.htm i hope they both become better passers and become franchise guys. And it’s hard to explain it, but Jackson just wins. It’s like he was good in college or something.
  22. I’ll be honest. Hughes really pissed me off with all the stupid penalties he used to get. I also fell like the guy who tries to be a tough guy should have proved how tough he was when Gronk took that cheap shot but he was no where to be found. but trust me, Hughes is far from one of the big problems on this team. As others have said, he isn’t a number 1 pass rusher but a complimentary one. And pressures are great but I want more game changing plays from him. But he is a solid starter and does play with a high motor.
  23. Agree. It’s been a good run and hopefully it continues. And I actually found myself pretty sad after the UB basketball and football losses and that’s a good thing. I’m starting to care about those teams. IMO, this is the best Buffalo has ever been in my life. I’m proud of this city and the people raising it up. It’s about time. Troy is a good team and UB just killed themselves. Last 2 games put a bad taste in your mouth but it was a great season and hopefully, Jackson comes back. He could get in the heisman talk if he does.
  24. Tyrod had more wins in the previous 2 years than Rivers prior to Lynn and SM becoming head coaches. Personally, I was happy to move on from Tyrod but people are delusional about how “bad” this situation was compared to the Chargers. The HOF Qb led his team to 9 wins in two years prior to Lynn.
