Horrible Harry...the forgotten man?
C.Biscuit97 replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haha. Well now I feel better because Chris Brown just gave me a scouting report. -
? shaw as you know, I get a lot of dating advice from Leonardo Dicarpio and financial advice from Jeff Bezos. ? and brian Hoyer >>> Matt Barkley I literally just posted that haha. Hoyer is Tom Brady compared to Barkley. Also, all those guys NE drafted are big armed guys. Fromm’s arm strength has been a major knock and he played in Georgia.

With all due respect, I don’t get this point. It’s like your woman cheats on you all the time but you keep forgiving her. But now, because you bought her a better house and got her a ring, she will suddenly be an awesome partner? Sometimes you need to go with the overwhelming evidence that Matt Barkley is a nice guy but is barely a nfl qb. His arm in a windy day in November will be an absolute disaster.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NewtCa00.htm https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/cam-newton-1.html https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo02.htm https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/josh-allen-7.html you really don’t see a big difference between their first 2 years, after much, much different college careers in much, much different college competition? This board questions guys like Newton and Jackson yet fully believe in Allen. I get the homer part where you want to believe but is there anything factual to based this on besides blind optimism (which is a good thing)?

Cam also set rookie passing records. If Allen had rookie passing records after being of the most dominant players in the history of college football in the SEC, trust me, I’d be his biggest fan and would fight people who doubt him (like some of you do with Cam). and I’m a tough grader but yeah, 69 is insane.

We have a lot of fatties. What’s the opposite of this list? Need to plan a trip if other countries ever let Americans in again. and I don’t if this has ever been discussed but why Haven’t they’re ever just made the CFL a minor league for the nfl? They try all these other stupid leagues but none of them have the staying power like the cfl.

I think In today’s nfl, with the rules to help qbs so much, you kinda know what you have by year three. In the last 10 years, how many guys have turned into star qbs after struggling in year 3? Like if Allen doesn’t hit over 60 (not 69, though it’s nice), it is clearly a major issue that he might not overcome. there aren’t many holes on this team right (except backup QB ?). Non Bills fans see a good team with a question mark at qb. Not taking shots but that’s how it is. If Allen is a legit franchise qb, the roof is the ceiling! If he’s not, he just another young qb who was propped up a good team.

Hit a 9 instead of a 0 boss. Happy hour started early yesterday. stat benchmarks are tough because there can be a lot of variables. But 60% is the definition of average for nfl passers. I’d say 230 yards passing is also a good benchmark (3,680). And the other thing I want to see is that Allen wins as a game that a league average qb couldn’t win. I’ve seen elite moments and amazing plays. But too many inconsistent stretches and that’s kinda who’s been his whole career so far. IMO, I don’t think any young qb could be in a better situation for success. I wish him well because he is a good dude with elite physical tools. But it takes more than that to be a star qb. also, the offense needs to average at least 24. Touchdowns can be fluky. Like Allen could be a better passer but have a rb get double digits tds like Brees and Rodgers.

Scared how the season plays out
C.Biscuit97 replied to Bills fan since 87's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Football is the greatest sport ever invented but the nfl is the least forward thinking league run by a moron commissioner. If this was Adam Silver and then nba (hell even dumb Bettman and hockey has done a great job), I’d feel really confident on the season getting done. but with the size of nfl rosters and coaching staff and the game of football, I struggle to see how this season goes through uninterrupted. Really hope I’m wrong though. I can’t imagine a fall/ winter without the Bills. ? -
Newton vs Allen and Pats vs Bills
C.Biscuit97 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cam completed 67% of his passes and was a MVP candidate before he hurt his shoulder in 2018. This board badly underrates Cam. He had Steve Smith his rookie year and complete trash since. His numbers 1 have included Ted Ginn!!!, Kelvin “fat woman” Benjamin (great trade)!!!, Devin Funchess. if healthy and that’s a huge if at this point, he made NE much, much more dangerous. -
How simple are some of you. If you question a guy as a franchise qb, you “hate” him. Some of you should watch other teams. They routinely pass for over 200 yards!!! The complete more than 60% of their passes!!! They score more than 19 points a game!!! It’s wild stuff. i hate bad qb play. Allen is a really good dude. So was EJ, Trent, and JP kinda. It’s moronic to say someone hates a player because they question how good they are. If we had good qb play last year, we are at worst 12-4. At worst. I want more points and less excuses. and with that, I will wish Allen well and won’t be critical of him until the real games. I truly hope he develops into a real qb who isn’t carried by his defense and can win games with his arm.
-
Without doubt, if he can’t hit 69% of his passes, he definitely needs to go. he’s not terrible, has a lot of upside but I’ve never heard a higher drafted player have more excuses made for him. He is in his 3rd year in the system with a defense that carries the team. This isn’t the 80s when receivers could get murdered running routes. It’s the easiest time to play qb in the history of the nfl. There is zero excuse to average less than 200 yards passing. bills fans have the worst standards for offensive play. we had to score more than 16 points: game last year to win. Such a low freakin bar.

Dez Bryant to work out for the Ravens

And he might be better at passing to receivers who aren’t trash. -

Yup. Only Josh Allen will improve. -
Poutine isn’t good for the thighs.

I’m not a huge Winston fan but he is a million times better than better than Barkley. He actually had talent. but what does Sean Payton know about offense? Definitely would defer to Brian Daboll. Allen played about average level qb play last year. Newton and Winston could step in and they won’t miss a beat. If Barkley has to play, it’s over.

He had worse receivers than Allen. Besides Brown, who got hurt, they were a bottom 5 group. -
With all due respect. Newton with a broken shoulder is better than Barkley. Allen, despite what many think, is far from a sure thing. But the Bills are invested in Allen because if he fails, it looks really bad for them. So I do get it but imo, if Allen can’t beat out Newton or Winston, he isn’t the guy anyways. hopefully, this is a moot point. As much doubt that I have about Allen, I want to see him play this year against a harder schedule. But if you are building the best possible team, you don’t settle for what we have. You tell Winston: Newton that it’s Allen’s job, practice hard, and if anything happens to him, you step in on a playoff level team and it could lead to a mega deal next year. I really don’t think some fans watch other games besides the Bills. Barkley was on the scrap heap for good reason. Nice guy, really bad nfl qb.
-
You’re crazy if you don’t think that was part of the discussion in backup qbs. Newton and Winston are their worst days are much much much better than our current backups and they are cheaper. teams worry about killing a young Qbs confidence. In an open competition, both of those guys could easily beat out Allen and that divides the lockerroom. Matt Barkley is completely non threatening.
