  1. Tua is not the long term answer for that franchise at quarterback. He's not a scrub like Nathan Peterman, but he's also barely of starting quarterback caliber. He's a serviceable game manager who needs a fast start if they have any hopes of winning the game.
  2. I'm glad Donahoe agrees with TBD. I assume you're also campaigning for these to return as our throwback jerseys?
  3. When it comes to throwing someone in jail, I agree with you, innocent until proven guilty. When it comes to being a prominent public figure - the literal face of an organization, the standard is a lot lower. It becomes a distraction for the organization. It's why Cuomo resigned, it's why CEOs embroiled in sex scandals resign. The fact that the Browns signed this guy to one of the largest contracts in NFL history, who has serious unresolved legal matters before him, and who structured his contract so he wouldn't lose pay should he be suspended by the league, I just don't know what to say. They have no idea whether he's guilty or not -- but if the league determines he's guilty enough to be suspended, the Browns have ensured he will receive his money. What a sick, twisted way to do business. The Browns deserve every bit of criticism they're getting right now. I welcome their fans with open arms.
  4. Don't be surprised to see some of the Browns sponsors distance themselves from the franchise. There will be non-football fans pressuring companies like Progressive, First Energy, and the like to break their sponsorship deals. It will be interesting to see how this evolves...
  5. So we’re all in agreement - the dildos come out at the Browns game now, right? Unbelieveable. He’s obviously chosen Cleveland for the money. If the Bills pulled this, I’d boycott the team until the guy was gone and the GM/coach were fired. I have to imagine there is a contingent of Cleveland fans that feel the same way. Goodell can’t be happy that Watson is one of the highest paid players in the league.
  6. I just want someone who can field the ball reliably without fumbling. Is this too much to ask?
  7. How is Chris Kelsay on this list... he's the biggest TBD whipping boy of all time. More so than Edmunds! And at #36 no less - before Will Wolford, Jack Kemp, and Fred Jackson! Give me a break!
  8. Git 'er done, Beane... this is what Wagner is famous for in the PNW... Stop freakin, call Beacon!
  9. The reason I don't think the Pats will be in primetime this season - we've faced them on MNF (2021, 2020, 2018), and the NFL Network Saturday Special (2019). 2017 was the last time we didn't face the Pats in a national telecast. There are so many good matchups for the Bills this year that I suspect the Pats will take a breather for primetime games this year. Of course, the NFL could disagree.
  10. The one sure thing in the schedule - @KC is going to be a standalone 4:25 CBS national game. CBS hasn't gotten this game in the regular season the last two years - 2020 going to FOX's Thursday package and 2021 being on NBC SNF. If I had to guess, this goes in the first or second week of November. This is the NFL's #1 game they have on the schedule next year and it's going to get top billing, which doesn't necessarily mean SNF. I think we open against the Rams on Thursday Night (NBC), the Packers home game is probably a non-standalone 4:25 on FOX in September, the Bengals game is a MNF game, and I bet we play one of the Dolphins or Jets on Thursday night. I'd also guess that one of the Steelers or Ravens is going to be a SNF or MNF game. I'd be really surprised if we play Detroit on Thanksgiving given we've played 2 out of 3 years and we aren't the Lions or Cowboys. But, the other option in that slot is Miami and I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL is gun shy about giving that franchise national attention on Thanksgiving.
  11. This was the tell tale sign to me... anytime the QB of the winning team doesn't win the MVP, one of two things happened. Either someone else completely stole the spotlight, or he was terrible and thus someone else won it because somebody had to. So our MVP this year was a receiver who had 8 catches (none of them particularly spectacular, say like Tyree's catch or Santonio Holmes' for the Steelers), 92 yards and 2 TD receptions. It's hard for me to get excited about a game like that. At least with a 49ers and Bengals super bowl, you had some history to play for. Rams and Bengals has zero compelling story line for neutral fans.
  12. I was curious about this too... The Chiefs played in Buffalo in the regular season in 2020. This was the result of the regular 3-year rotation among AFC divisions where you play all four teams in a division in a given year. Since the Bills played in Kansas City in 2017, the rotation was due such that they were going to play in Buffalo. In 2021, because the Bills won the AFC East, their AFC West opponent was Kansas City, because they too finished first in their division in 2020. The location of this game was dictated by the rotation as well. The Bills will play AT the AFC west for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, because they hosted the AFC West (Denver in 2019, the Chargers in 2018) in Buffalo. This is why we get the (honor?) of playing at KC for two consecutive seasons. And with the 2023 season bringing the full AFC West into the rotation again - that calls for the game to be in KC as well. So from 2020 onwards, the schedule has looked like... 2020 Regular Season: @BUF 2020 AFC Championship: @KC 2021 Regular Season: @KC 2021 AFC Divisional: @KC 2022 Regular Season: @KC 2023 Regular Season: @KC
  13. This was just a very uninteresting game to me. Neither team was a villain like the Pats* or Brady used to be. The Rams are the embodiment of "Corporate NFL" with their combination of stadium, owner, and fairly pedestrian fanbase. Neither QB lit it up in what is such a quarterback-driven league. The Bengals have fans with heart, and they played a pivotal role in breaking the drought, so I was rooting for them. But even still... it felt like these teams were playing by default after the choke jobs that the Buffalo Defense, Mahomes, and Rodgers delivered.
  14. This sounds like a WWE match... why do they have the rock out there?
  15. Pizza Hut fills two niches - one is pizza in rural areas. The pizza I have had in rural areas outside of the northeastern US has generally been marginally better than frozen grocery store pizza, and on occasion, worse than that. Pizza Hut is likely going to be better and more consistent than what the local dive bar in Idaho serves up, and it's probably the best pizza within a 50 mile radius. The second niche is in ease of ordering and pickup. Pizza Hut can put a few franchises in small and medium-sized cities and can compete on the basis of being closer than the "good" place that's across town. Pizza is a convenience meal for a lot of people, and thus the ability to plug an order into an app, and drive a half mile for pickup, outweighs having to drive twenty minutes each way for better pizza. Doordash and some of the delivery apps have eaten into this (and it's why you see Dominos going all-out in advertisements against them), but they are more expensive and oftentimes slower than just ordering from the business itself. So, while I don't think they will be super successful in WNY, I do think they aren't as bad as some make them out to be. Sure, if I had a La Nova location near me, I wouldn't be ordering Pizza Hut either, but not everyone has that luxury.
  16. I suspect we draft a punter late given the success Bass has had as a homegrown specialist… Haack is a goner. With the dead cap hit, Star stays put. Jerry probably retires or leaves as a FA. My guess is that OL, DL, and the secondary are the targets in FA and the draft. Hyde and Poyer are getting up there in age and they need to develop the next generation while they can still go. They love Edmunds for some reason so I suspect they stay out with their LBs as is.
  17. Regarding the officiating department... As was said upthread, they are paid very well for what amounts to 16 games of work (they get multiple bye/off weeks), plus preseason and postseason duty. I think the major issue with the officiating is the average age and physical fitness. These guys range in age from their late 30s to 70 years old (in the case of Tony Corrente). You can't tell me that things like reaction time, eyesight, etc don't diminish by the time you reach 55, let alone 70. They should move the older officials up into the booth for replay, and get younger blood out on the field. I honestly think this is the biggest reason officiating is terrible - it's being conducted by the same group waiting in line for the salad bar at Wendys at 4pm on a Wednesday for their discount.
  18. I tend to agree with this take. Both my wife and I have been “sham” interviewees in the past. It sucks to go through the prep for a job you have 0% chance of landing, but it’s how life works. Throwing games intentionally though is huge if it’s actually true. It’d get the owner kicked out of the league and if anyone had knowledge of this and placed a bet… it’d be the NFL’s version of the Black Sox. This is the much bigger news imo.
  19. I think the more interesting question is - did the team hold back either quarterback. McD, for all the credit he rightly deserves for turning the culture around, has had a horrible track record of in-game coaching. His win percentage on challenges, as well as how his defense handles end of game situations (Arizona last year, KC this year) makes me think he needs someone like Ernie Adams is to Belichick. He needs someone in the booth that isn't wrapped up in the emotion of the moment to provide input on stuff like this. I personally think that Allen + Kelce + Hill would've had a field day. Kelce represents a huge upgrade over Knox, and Hill is a #1 that has McKenzie-type speed. Add Pringle, CEH, and McKinnon and I just think their skill players are better than Diggs, Beasley, Davis, McKenzie, and Singletary.
  20. This - I am no fan of the Patriots*, but at least PatsFans has some small shred of decency. ChiefsPlanet is like finding a dark corner of the internet and wondering how humanity can interact like that on a daily basis. It makes me feel very fortunate to have a place like this, even if it can get crazy after a loss like yesterday's. Also makes me really appreciate our fanbase a lot.
  21. Regular season: 1 10-minute overtime period, played to its completion. Any tries must be 2 point conversions. If it's tied after 10 minutes, it's a tie. Postseason: 10-minute overtime periods, played to their completion. Any tries must be 2 point conversions. If it's tied after 10 minutes, repeat. As it stands right now, the NFL is akin to extra innings without a guarantee of a bottom half of the inning. Sure, you could argue that "pitching matters" and so whoever scores first should win. But it completely ignores the reality of today's NFL where the offense is handed every single advantage. The coin toss matters too much.
  22. BBFS flashed before me tonight, I knew they couldn't hold them for 13 seconds. Dallas on the first Monday night game in Buffalo in forever. That NE opener on Monday night on the 50th anniversary of the AFL. Music City Miracle Wide Right Hail Murray We've been through our fair share of this crap... notice the two under McD are last second defensive breakdowns. He's gotta get the endgame nailed down.
  23. Would like to see some runs to Singletary... can't keep throwing it every down.
