  1. I think he does posess those traits you mentioned, but his injury history is concerning. He averages probably 2 offensive snaps per week on offense, and 12 special teams snaps, and most of the time is nursing an injury by the bye week, and more often than not, it seems, on the IR for the last couple games of the year. Giving him 60 snaps per week would is something that his body doesn't seem like it could handle. Also, Rex's defensive scheme is seemingly very difficult for guys who have played defense for a decade to get, so a converted WR, late in his career, presumably would struggle to get complex concepts.
  2. The Sphinx has been going strong for 20,000 years without one.
  3. He actually scored a failing grade on the written exam, but his preceptor let him slide, based on his pure, unsurpassed athleticism.
  4. I'm willing to pump 1(one) fist for 3(three) seconds, and for anywhere from 15-25 minutes, feel a sense of happiness that the patriots are done. Possibly might even throw in a freebie of 5 minutes of relief/joy, my choice, on Super Bowl Sunday that the Patriots are not in it.
  5. Despite how much I dislike poor grammar and spelling, this isn't quite the thread to feel the need to correct someone. Does anyone remember what stage Jim's was? I don't remember it being 4, but I just don't remember a number designation.
  6. If Rex were better at his job, Jim Kelly would be at least 36 months cancer free by now, if he ever even ended up having it at all! How many good men must suffer for Rex's carelessness??? Jim Schwartz would have just laid his hands on Jim and Jim wouldn't even have to go to the doctor anymore, he would KNOW he's cured, and would come back and be our franchise QB. How could the Pegulas, how could Russ Brandon, how could Doug Whaley be so selfish to allow this to happen by not retaining Schwartz???
  7. I think it's kind of a weak, convenient argument to look back at drafts and say "hey, we MISSED on this guy, because we picked this player who is a nobody, instead", and then say "hey, I'm no expert, I shouldn't be expected to pick talent out of the upcoming draft!!" You can't have it both ways. If you want to evaluate past drafts and condemn the talent evaluators for missing on players, you should underatand the factors that went into NOT selecting the player. Was our roster already pretty well set at that position? Were there "character red flags" that pushed him down, or off our draft board altogether? Was their college production a short sample size, or against non-premium talent? Did they not receive a clean physical, and therefore got pushed down or off the board? You can't condemn people who have a track record of finding talent if you don't know what went into the grading of that player, and then absolve yourself of having to decide, in advance, which players will be good simply because you don't have knowledge of this information. You can't have it both ways.
  8. Marrone quit in 2015, Reid was hired in 2013. And although the concept of this thread is dumb and revisionist, the idea of not being able to better KC's pick of #34 in the draft is kinda silly when you look back on the fact that we, instead, took EJ Manuel around 18th or 19th. I imagine, if you had a time machine, you could go back and still trade back with St. Louis in that draft and get that second pick in the 2nd round that we got Robert Woods with, and maybe even traded down again to about 27 or 28 and pick up another 2nd or 3rd rounder in that draft to get EJ with later, more where he was slotted, then give that 27 or 28 pick to SF, as it would still be higher than the 34 they got. Again, only with a time machine though.
  9. Do we give him much of the credit for Carlos coming on hot, Gilislee being pretty productive, and Shady realizing his promise and not disappointing? I don't know how to tell what is the RB coach and what isn't, but I'm satisfied with the RBs this year and we had the #1 rated run game, so whether it's him or not, I hope he stays.
  10. That's funny, apparently NYC vultures got type writers for Christmas.
  11. Definitely the Jets, only because of Fitz and Gailey. Fitz is, behind Fred, my favorite Bill AS A PERSON ever, and Gailey, though he wasn't perfect, was a classy guy and I really respect him and how he held the helm as Buddy and Whaley brought this team back from being completely talentless. His short comments to the media after he was let go are all of the proof you need of that. I wish we had his offense with our Schwartz defense, with this current team. Gailey would be in heaven with this talent. He had garbage on offense when he was here. Donald Jones? David Nelson? Stevie Johnson as a #1 WR?? This is about respecting someone as a person, and I really respect Fitz and Gailey, and want to see them win, because they deserve it. If the Bills can't get in, give the Jets a good fight in week 17, and win or lose, tip your cap to them and wish them luck in January, if they can make it.
  12. Ok, we've finally found the chink in the Patriots' armor... Get them to overtime, and it all falls apart... YES!!!
  13. Hopkins was drafted to replace Lindell, he got injured right after we cut Lindell, and we brought Carpenter in to replace Hopkins after he had been placed on the IR. Carpenter did so well after his first season that we released Hopkins. I don't know why we didn't keep him as a kickoff specialist. Was that when we cut him and Moorman and brought in Gay and Schmitt?
  14. Fire Whaley! How could he let this happen??? I hope Seantrel's able to get this in a place where he can manage it better. I'm glad he was able to turn his career around from being a flunkee in college to having a legit NFL career, though hard work at discipline, and hopefully this is more a bump than a wall.
  15. If that really was Thurman, than he should be embarrassed. It is no wonder why this team plays so undisciplined, if this is how the coaching staff operates. Grow up and stop complaining about how you were wronged. The refs DID NOT blow this game. Our coaches, and most importantly our players lost this game.
  16. Let's not make this black and white. Yes, he is not perfect. His picking of EJ, which he surely had a strong voice in though Nix was technically the GM at the time, picking Kouandjio in the 2nd round and getting NOTHING out of, and to some extent trading up for Sammy in such a WR heavy class (though I maintain he is wildly talented, and time will yet show if he was worth it or not) were all questionable moves. But, he also had limits as to what he would pay these positions that he was willing to pay these non-premium positions, and when they wanted more, he maintained his clear thinking and DID NOT panic and overpay, thus allowing us payroll integrity. I was pretty unsure about paying McCoy SOOO much money when we didn't want to pay Spiller half of it, but these last 4 games really has changed my mind. He has been terrific, and we likely wouldn't have been in most of those games if Spiller were playing instead of McCoy. And I'm not convinced that having Kiko on the roster would have made an equal boost to the D to keep us in games this year as much as McCoy has.
  17. I'm feeling, lately, that they might cut ties with Mario, which would greatly free up the money for Gilmore, Glenn, and Incognito, and at least in NY, Rex liked DL high in the draft. Weakening our DL by losing Mario likely has us picking a DL with one of our top 2 picks, and we almost have to get a LB or S in the first 3 rounds, too, so might not be room to get a QB unless someone falls and you simply cannot ignore him. I don't see it happening. Unless we fill one of these positions I mentioned in FA, before the draft.
  18. Being a Bills fan is not for the faint of heart, guys. Stop wringing your hands and having a tantrum every thanksgiving and acting like we're a bad team. We haven't been bad since 2011. We just are taking our own damn sweet time to go from being pretty good to being very good... Which is the part that really rests on the QB position. The rest of the team is good. Some of our weaknesses this year have been exposed by injuries, which every team will have happen to them, but are able to mask by a franchise QB's play. Our current GM had a major role in assembling the most talent we've had in 20 years, and has shown the ability to get rid of past-their-prime players and make tough calls on cuts or not re-signing players. Most of our problems this year will be addressed by a skilled GM, and the hunt for/ development of a "Franchise QB" will continue... As it will for 15 other teams. I like our GM, in the mean time.
  19. I think a little too much is made of how most of his catches were made within x number of yards in college, so we should be recreating that here. The main reason why Clemson ran that offense was because their QB Taj Boyd was terrible, so they got Sammy the ball as soon as possible, because Boyd was unable to hit him and Bryant downfield as reliably. Our QBs my not be elite, but they are worlds better than Boyd, so we can utilize Sammy's deep speed, and route running, instead of just dumping off to him for 6 yard gains. You get guys like David Nelson for those short 0-10 yd. WR screens, you utilize Sammy in the 5-30+ yd. downfield passing game. With that said, we clearly have not been getting him the ball enough... But we have been improving.
  20. I bet Tyrod is kicking himself for picking Buffalo and not Denver, where he would likely have been the #2 QB in his former OC Kubiak's system, and now the starter, subject to this $15+MM/yr contract speculation. Yes, he will be available as a FA after next season, but I don't see more than a $7-8MM/yr deal in his future, unless he improves his passing skills. He is sometimes fun to watch, but certainly not a great passer.
