  1. No... I think Pettine is WAY overrated. Is only a name in Bills fans eyes because of following Wanny, who was epically terrible.
  2. Maybe Lynn could bring in Greg Roman as his OC. I've heard good things about him.
  3. I'm not against promoting Lynn, but I do not want Pettine. He runs a worse version of Rex's defense, one that cannot stop the run. I mentioned in another thread that I think the way to go is to promote Lynn, and bring in a vet DC looking to restore his name and get a (nother) chance at HC. I had in mind Bradley from Jax, but I'm sure there are 4 other guys who would fit that bill.
  4. What comment is that? Was something mentioned at post game PC or was it today?
  5. My issue with him was that his purported strength, the OL and grinding it out football was terrible when he was here. Maybe we didn't exactly have his type of players when he was here, to execute his schemes, but the players who regressed under him have since returned to form, or improved. Despite that, we still had a competitive team... as many have attributed, thanks inordinately to Schwartz' strong (not "great") defense.
  6. If we fire Rex, maybe Gus Bradley could be an option to come in as DC? I know that team in Seattle was VERY talented when he was there, and remained very talented after he left, so maybe that somewhat shows that it wasn't exactly his doing that made them good, so someone who knows how to evaluate these things could clarify better if he really is a skilled defensive mind, but I think it would be a valid option. Maybe a guy like A. Lynn could come in as HC, and just handle the offensive side of the ball, with a known commodity on the defensive side to not overwhelm the young new HC? I don't hate the idea of Lynn being HC, as long as we do something aggressive like bringing in Romo, drafting or signing a Legit #2WR, throwing another 3rd or 4th rounder at a QB, and a high pick on safety. Those moves would really have me excited for 2017.
  7. I wouldn't be outraged if this happened, but it wouldn't happen, I don't think.
  8. Yep, this is what I was thinking- if Garropolo IS somewhat of a system QB, I would do my best to bring that system to Buffalo with him, to improve chances of him being productive. I just don't know how different our personnel on offense is vs who Brady/ Garropolo/ McDaniels had in NE. I feel like we have an OLYMPIC much better at run blocking than pass blocking, which may be a major difference, and may prove to be prohibitive in allowing the NE system to fully take root in Buffalo, at least for a season or two.
  9. I can't see him fired in mid season... so you will likely wait until January to pop said cork. And then, if we win our final 3 games... and we finish 9-7... I think he stays. *quickly ducks*
  10. The NFL is an entertainment industry. It always has been, and always will be. It is not government, religion, or finance, where ulterior motives are understandably scandalous, but in this case... it is just a business, making business decisions. In my opinion, nothing groundbreaking.
  11. I would much prefer the Bills pick one up in the 32-ish range :-) I would go: 1st rd- S/TE 2nd rd- TE/S 3rd rd- QB 4th rd- backup C/G combo player. Wood/Richie not getting younger. 5th rd- WR Pick up a veteran RT, reasonable CB, and bring back Woods if possible.
  12. This makes me glad (again) that Donald Trump did not buy the Bills- what an embarrassing owner. I wonder how stable the franchise is, down in Tennessee- if they get sold, if there is a chance that they relocate.
  13. Steroid use leads to deflated balls. Surely Goodell will be watching this.
  14. If we get to 9 or 10 wins but miss out, that ball that Darby failed to pick off that hit him dead in the hands with nothing but goal line ahead of him, in Baltimore, in what ended up being a 13-7 loss, will be the most burning missed opportunity that kept us out of the playoffs this year.
  15. This seems a little ambitious. Hunter comes across to me as a wasted upside, unproductive type of guy, Powell is a rather unskilled ST type of guy, Listenbee has never played before, and I personally feel that Easley will not play again after that last injury. Drafting someone in the 1St 2 roubds is imperative, but so is bringing in a mid range vet who can share the #2 with the draft pick, or be an effective #2 himself should injuries push him to start. But, I am assuming that #1 we keep Tyrod, and attribute any holes in his stats to weakness at the WR position, and resolve to strengthen the team there to improve the ROI in Tyrod, and #2 OC Lynn has a slightly different playbook than Roman does, and can utilize WRs a little more.
  16. Off the top of my head, Gillislee, Rambo, and Mills were signed at least midway into the season, so there is quality available at this time of year.
  17. Moneyball and analytics never meant that the Browns would be good this year. This is part of a several season accumulation of talent, both of quality and quantity. And it is the right approach. Winning is about quality scouting, prudent talent acquisition and retention, and luck, not hitting rock bottom in all cases. If you have the #1 pick, you can trade it for multiple valuable high picks, but the Bills' problem hasn't been a failure to hit rock bottom. Many of the top teams in the league now can't attribute their current success to a "bottom" that they hit at some relatively recent point.
  18. I agree with the prevailing opinion on here amongst others, that Buffalo would not be a good place for him. If he were 3rd on the depth chart, fans would be screaming for him to start with every INT. or loss by the starter, and his minor celebrity (as far as the last name, anyway), would do nothing to improve his entitled tendencies in his "hometown", whether he started or not. I think the best places for him would be 1. in the NFC, just in case he does end up being a decent QB, we wouldn't have to see him twice per year, or fight his team for a playoff spot, and 2. behind a firmly entrenched QB where even he wouldn't buy the "I should be starter" crap. 1. Green Bay 2. Seattle 3. New Orleans 4. Carolina
  19. Theo's system works within both the economic and talent-acquisition structures of baseball, which are both very different than in football. Theo also just signed a 5 year extention to remain in Chicago, abouthe a month that or two ago.
  20. Can't really see the helmet in that picture, but I get the idea what it would look like... in other news, I always thought those oil well helmets looked cool... but only because the Bills beat them often.
  21. What a strange statement... mind calling 32 offensive coordinators and mentioning that, see what they say?
  22. Does Russ oversee both the well AND the lake, or would that be stretching himself too thin?
  23. I think that these numbers are more reasonable, and all though it is clear that Zach has been teariffic this year, I think if he getsaid up north of $5 million, I would unfortunately let him walk. We couldn't have a better guy waiting in the wings, and hopefully Whaley/ Monos/ Fisher are able to find a FA vet who can still back up the ILB position capably, and take the 4th or 5th rounder we would get for the 2018 draft for letting Zach walk for a contract above $5 million and hopefully gets as high as $6 or $7 million- the more, the better as far as the comp pick goes.
  24. On the bright side... of all the teams that we could afford to play without our top running back, I think Miami is easily top-5 on the list. I know they'really ranked 31st against the run, but sometimes those rankings are skewed based on game situations they see, but Miami has legitimately bottom-5 talent at stopping the run. So IF we are without Shady, which I doubt, we could overcome it okay this week. Now, if we're without Shady AND Woods...
