  1. They are likely going to trade their top 3-4 picks just to move up for a QB, we're not as set as you think.
  2. Players tend to quit when they realize the tank is on. They are unwilling to get injured and go all out playing for a team that's designed to lose.
  3. 1-3 aren't even fake true. We need a QB asap, so winning 5 games actually means we will need to spend most of the picks in #3 just to get a single player. If we had simply sucked we could have actually rebuilt much sooner.
  4. I stand corrected. He is super young and we don't need to draft his replacement then. We should neglect the position til he's over the hill. Also, you should note that he is not in red.
  5. See Bangarang's post. This thread wasn't a promise, it was an observation. We are always multiple years away from being decent because we keep switching coaches and systems. I don't care how "multiple" your D is, a 3-4 OLB isn't a 4-3 OLB and they can't just switch over to playing DE. They committed to this regime, now we're all going to have to sit here and prepare to stink for at least 2-3 more years while they assemble the roster they want.
  6. Frustration with the situation is different than quitting on a coach. If I'm on that team I'm just as pissed at the D for being garbage as I am at them starting a rookie QB who was terrible.
  7. I mean Tolbert was clearly a "process" guy that was brought in to help change the culture and get people to fall in line with McD. Come on, now you're just spoiling for an argument.
  8. I dunno, I wasn't complaining, just pointing out that our roster has tons of holes and we're going to have to be patient. I know everyone here is as bummed as I am about sucking this year, but that's not likely to change overnight.
  9. I dunno what they honestly were thinking beyond "let's see what we have on this roster and get what we can for who we can." They could have been shopping him around quietly for all I know.
  10. This is why we keep having to reset the timer. We are going to need to sit with this combo for at least 2-3 more years They don't really seem to care about dead cap space though. Are you happy with him as a starter? Cause he's never on the field.
  11. Problem is no one noticed the land was salted. It will take generations before the land is arable again.
  12. I originally put this in another thread, then, because I am a special snowflake I erased the post and decided my 5 minutes of effort was worthy of it's own thread. This team will be devoid of talent for a while. All those picks we have now are going to get packaged to try and get the 2nd pick of the draft. As a result, if we land 3 starters in next year's draft I would be shocked. We have a tremendous need of at least 10 new players just to field a non-trash roster. Be prepared to start next season looking at the roster and saying "who is that starter?" Positions that will have to be addressed this offseason are in red. Offense - we have FIVE positions of extreme need with one decent player likely being replaced by someone on the roster. QB -Tyrod - GONE RB - Shady - Over 30 and has no backup WR - Kelvin Benjamin - 1 more year on contract WR - Jordan Matthews - Injured and would need to be re-signed or replaced WR - Zay Jones - Here for the foreseeable future TE - Charles Clay - perennially injured. Back ups are not great. Needs to be replaced T - Cordy Glenn - Can't find the field because of injury - Big cap number - Might be supplanted by Dawkins G - Richie Incognito - 34 yrs old C - Eric Wood - 31 - signed an extension this offseason G - Vlad the Turnstile - Please get him off my team. Miller is equally bad. T - Jordan Mills - See Vlad above Defense - Ideally we would replace the whole D-Line. Realistically - we're stuck with at least 2 of them. That leaves us with FIVE immediate needs on D. DE - Shaq Lawson - He's not going anywhere next year DT - Adolphus Washington - Should be a rotational player, but will start here next year. DT - Kyle Williams - Will retire DE - Jerry Hughes - Poor production, can't survive being the only pass rushing threat. Should be moved, but will stay because who else do we have- unless we manage to trade him. OLB - Lorenzo Alexander - Nice guy, shouldn't be starting MLB - Preston Brown - Nope OLB - Ramon Humber - Average, needs to be replaced. Matt Milano should be depth, not a starter CB - Tre White - So far this is the first player on the team I'm happy about CB - EJ Gaines/Shareece Wright - Gaines can't stay healthy and Wright is not amazing S - Jordan Poyer - Starter S - Micah Hyde - Starter
  13. Agreed, he screwed everyone by pulling this half-measures crap and saddling a beleaguered GM with a clueless HC. Should have hired a consultant to help him identify the best GM available and let that guy hire a coach.
  14. Erroneous, OP assumes we even have a stable. Beane traded our stable in the offseason for some extra process.
  15. He is REALLY REALLY bad and I don't know if McDermott has the stomach to fire his buddies. At this point I can't see a position coach or coordinator who is actually doing their job.
  16. Pretty much this. He saw Tyrod wasn't going to get better, thought the kid looked good in practice and took a shot. Peterman isn't an NFL QB and before anyone tells me I'm jumping the gun - he had the worst performance of any QB ever in his first half; the only QB that was even close to being as bad was Ryan Lindley, who had 4 INTs, there is no precedent for starting this poorly and then becoming great and Peterman isn't breaking any trends.
  17. I don't understand why it would make much sense to admit that to the media though. 1 - Why does he owe the media any kind of mea culpa at all? What does this accomplish? 2 - Why dump on Peterman? The kid is obviously devastated he sucked and probably blew his once chance to start in the NFL.
  18. Tyrod is a more mobile version of Tebow with a decent deep ball. I don't get the racism - Tebow isn't even in the league with that skill set.
  19. We USED to have a decent D-line. Unfortunately Hughes and Williams are not the players they were 2 years ago.
  20. For the small chance that he had simply been poorly coached and could develop into a franchise QB. It's hard to argue against that train of thought. If you see a QB with good mobility and who doesn't throw picks you wonder "If we coach him up properly, could he actually develop as a passer?" Once they realized he is what he is, they made the move to replace him. Unfortunately, the guy behind him is simply not ready to be an NFL QB.
  21. This. People wouldn't be nearly as upset right now if we hadn't started out well and given everyone a sliver of hope that we were anything more than a 6-10 team.
  22. Realistically this team has about 10-11 glaring holes. We need a QB, completely new Dline (4), at least 2 LBs and 2-3 OL. Throw in another RB and TE/WR and we can't possibly fix that in one offseason. I just hope we get a QB and at least a starting RG/RT out of the next draft.
