  1. You're the same age as me,and I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Things were alot looser in the '70s. Much cooler time to be a kid. Cruising on Friday and Saturday nites,drive-in movies and parents that didn't yet know the symptoms of being stoned!
  2. People tend to get more conservative as they age. That will not change. This is a cycle that will continue forever. People will always think that the generation gap they're living thru is the biggest ever.
  3. Lots of people seem to really like Firefox, but the few times I've run it,it seemed much slower than Explorer. What are the advantages of Firefox compared to Explorer?
  4. WATCH IT BUDDY!!
  5. No I haven't. My cable provider offers free HD for a week every now and then and I switch back and forth between the HD channels and the non-HD ones. That's the closest I've come to side by side. I can see a difference,it's just big enough to make it worth it for me. As far as needing new glasses,I'm close to 50 and I don't wear glasses,so maybe that's something I should look into.
  6. I know. Everybody seems to love it,but I just don't get what the big deal is. The difference is so slight to me,I would never pay the extra bucks.
  7. You're joking right?
  8. Man. That's a good one. You develop lifelong friendships with dudes when you play sports with them. Sometimes you won't see each other for years and you run into each other and it's like high school again just like that. I've also noticed there will many times be an immediate connection with new guys at the workplace that's shared by guys who played lots of sports as youths. Sort of an instant comraderie or common way of communicating between people who don't yet know each other well.
  9. I've seen the show a few times, and I agree,it's pretty good. My sister-in-law has some cookbooks by him and we're always borrowing them. He's a hell of a cook.
  10. Thanks
  11. Anybody got a link?
  12. I agree 100%. Flutie was a damn good QB. Too bad every team he played for was always looking for somebody with better "measurables". RJ should have never been signed,we already had a QB.
  13. Try buying some basic equipment and working out at home. For me,it works out a lot better. I can more easily fit my workouts into my schedule,I listen/watch whatever I feel like as loud as I want, and I don't have to wait for equipment or wipe someone elses sweat off it. I started working out at home over 20 years ago and now my garage is a fully eqipped gym. Start with a simple piece of cardio equipment,a basic weight bench and a 110 pound set of iron weights. That's enough to get you started and will cost less than 500 bucks new, even cheaper if you pick it up used.
  14. I really don't know enough about roller brakes to comment on them. But I do ride quite a bit and I would suggest getting her something with more than 3 speeds. Even if she stays strictly on the pavement, she will find only having 3 speeds VERY restrictive. Get her something with at least 10 speeds. It will make riding much more comfortable.
  15. He sure showed them! Maybe Peters should have tried this tactic instead of the holdout.
  16. I'm also Catholic, and I'm really not sure where I stand, politically,on this issue. Is it a sin for a woman who's been raped to take a morning after pill hours after the attack? That's a tough question, but I lean towards no. How about the rare cases where a womans life is really threatened by carrying a baby full term? Should the life of the fetus be more important than the life of the mother? What if that woman is your daughter. How would you feel about it then? I just don't know. With all the variables involved in this issue, the older I get the more I question why the government should play any role in such a private and painful decision.
  17. I watch VERY few movies. It's just not my thing,I usually fall asleep. But I thought Gran Torino was great. If anybody hasn't seen it yet, they need to.
  18. Pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel shoved down his pants. Bartender says "Excuse me there captain, what's with the steering wheel?" Pirate replys "Arrrrrrrg matey,it's driving me nuts"
  19. I think most companies are in "squeeze" mode. The company I work for is pitting facilities against one another and demanding more production, less benefits, etc.,and threatening with consolidation. It becomes a race to the bottom. Whoever is willing to give up more, gets the work. It's just a sign of the times. It reminds me of the '80s. But things are cyclical and it will turn around in time. Until then we just need to do what we gotta do and be thankful to have a job.
