My neighbor used to work for a large U.S. chemical company and would periodcally be sent to work at their facilities in China.The stories he would tell were shocking.The company had a large warehouse built next to their manufacturing facility to house its workers.The floor of the warehouse was divided into cubicles with room dividers.They shared communal kitchens and bathrooms and were forced to work "until the job was done",many days this was 16-18 hours.He said they were paid the equivilant of 18 cents an hour.He no longer works for that company.Think about that next time you see the Made in China label.

We have a Pitbull named Pazy,a Chihuahua named Maxine and a Labrador named Scooby.My cousin once had a Queensland Heeler named Scooter.I always liked that name,not sure why.

This reminds me of an incident I was involved in as a kid. We were all hanging around the schoolyard after school one day and this kid who was a couple years older and twice my size kept taking off on my bike. I told him to stop but he wouldn't,so I took a broomstick that was laying around and,as he passed by taunting me,I threw it thru the spokes of the front wheel. The bike stopped dead,and he flew over the handlebars and smashed face first into the asphalt. He got pretty jacked up,his mom made a big issue out of it,and I got suspended.That was about 1972. Things haven't changed much.

I can't get into watching scabs. If a union member disagrees with his union and makes the decision to cross a picket line I can live with it. May not agree with it,but I can respect a mans decision. But when an outsider enters into a labor dispute and crosses another mans picket line,he's a scab. Nobody should respect a scab.

I have lost most of my enthusiasm for the NFL over the past few years as well,for all of the reasons the OP stated and more. It is such a cookie cutter league. You can turn on a game on Sunday and if it weren't for the uniforms being different,you wouldn't be able to tell one team from another. With few exceptions,all the stadiums are the same,they all run similar offensive and defensive systems and the players are just mercenaries playing for a paycheck.Not that I blame them,they are professionals and are just looking out for their best interests.I would do the same. For me college football is where it's at. After watching college ball all day Saturday,NFL Sundays are boring in comparison.

Tressel has had over 300 self reported "minor" violations during his tenure there,yet he still has a squeaky clean image in the national media.Goes to show you how wearing a sweatervest and projecting a nerdy image can fool people.

People are taking worse and worse care of themselves? Really? Compared to what era? It seems to me people are taking better care of themselves as compared to times gone by. There's alot more information available on nutrition and fitness,and people seem to be taking advantage of it. How many health clubs or gyms did you see 40 years ago? Now there's several in every town,and people are using them. Tobacco is slowly but surely being villified and less people are using it,and health food and organic sections are common in most grocery stores. Many health issues like heart disease,hypertension,high cholesterol,diabetes and even cancer have their roots in a persons genetics and can't be controlled by excercise and diet alone. It's easy to blame everybody elses health problems on them,but that ain't the realty.

Not all statins are the same. I tried taking generic simvastatin for a while but it made me feel like crap. My doctor switched me to Lipitor and the side effects went away and my cholesterol numbers are far better than they were with the generic. For me it's worth the extra money.

Forcier could be a pretty good QB if he grows up a bit. He got kicked out of Michigan for academic reasons. Too bad,he may have challenged for the starting spot under the new staff,and at the very least provided nice depth. GO BLUE!!!

True and honest democratic elections in that part of the world may end up installing governments that are much more hostile to the West. I'm not convinced the general population there is as tolerant of us and Isreal as most like to think.

.....or a third option. These uprisings are being pushed by Islamic Fundamentalists who believe their governments are too friendly with the West and tolerant of Isreal. I don't know what the answer is,but I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be option 3.

I'm Catholic but I've never really understood how people decide which prohibitions are to be taken seriously. I believe Leviticus prohibits things like eating shellfish and pork and even wearing certain colors. Why are some taboos taken so seriously and some are seemingly ignored?
