  1. I'd go back to 2006 and take Haloti Ngata instead of Donte Whitner.
  2. I can see why some think it's dumb, but it's also fun as hell. I love it when college games go OT. It's always crazy, and it may go 2 or 3 OT's. It's understandable the NFL wants something a little different, but the current "sudden death" system is anticlimatic, imo. I look forward to a college game going OT,I get bummed when an NFL game goes OT.
  3. NFL overtime sucks, imo. Todays game worked out fine, each team touched the ball. But too often,a coin flip,a short drive and a long FG end a hard fought game in a stupid way. I like the college OT,but I also see it's faults. I can see why people would want something different for the NFL,but the current system stinks. Each team should be guaranteed to touch the ball. It's pretty simple, and it would fix the problem. Either one of the Promos suggestions would work for me.
  4. I'm in about the same boat as you. I lost about 50% and am back up to about 90%. I don't make any of my own investments,I'd be lost. So I really can't help with advice. I have a financial advisor at my bank that I talk to and he invests it for me. I am looking into real estate tho. There's some good deals out there.I Would like to get another rental or maybe 2. Problem is,the real estate market out here in California is scandelous. Lots of shady deals going on. It's not just like you put in a bid on a property and you either get or you don't. I know lots of friends who have had their bid accepted and waited monthes thinking that the property is theirs, only to not get it in the end. And sometimes they're not even told. They just quit hearing from everyone and after many phone calls are told the deal fell thru. Still,I'm keeping my eyes open looking for a good deal.
  5. Sounds to me like the NCAA investigations are coming to a head and U$C may be in some trouble. Perfect time for Pete to leave town. If that's how it goes down, and Carroll leaves them in a mess, what a scumbag. It will be interesting to see where some of the 2010 commits end up. There are some top kids that will likely be reopening their recruitment.
  6. I wish they did. My stomach is sore as hell today!!!
  7. Exactly right. With Carroll being a west coast guy and the NCAA hot on his trail,I think it was time for Petey to "get out of Dodge." Seattle emptied the bank for him and was waiting with open arms.
  8. Purple is the worst. I was in the hospital yesterday getting my umbilical hernia repaired.Along with my paper gown,I was given a pair of purple socks with little paw prints on them to wear. I refused to put them on.
  9. Cities of the Underworld was awesome. I hope they bring that one back. I have to admit,I'll watch Monster Quest whenever I can catch it. I'll sit there with my eyes all big, just glued to the TV. And they never find crap!!! I don't know why I'm so attracted to it. I just can't help myself for some reason.
  10. You're right about that. A whole lot of garbage music was made in the 80's. The whole heavy metal/hair band genre makes me puke. Motley Crew - that's another HORRIBLE band.
  11. This guy is pretty bad too.
  12. I don't think I've ever heard Nickelback. The worst band that I can think of is the 80's band Loverboy. They really sucked.
  13. Sorry,I thought you were talking about one of these. http://www.barkbarkwoofwoof.com/Chevy%20Vega%2012-05-05.jpg
  14. You really think so? I don't know. My initial impression of Tuberville was not very good. Then I did a little research and he did have a pretty good W-L record at Auburn. Better than I had thought. Still,Leach really had made Tech into a very exciting, fun to watch team. I must defer to your knowledge of Southern football. What do you think a Tuberville coached TT team would look like? EDIT: ESPN is reporting Tuberville's got the job.
  15. It will be interesting to see where the Tech program goes from here. The more info that comes out,the more it looks like Leach may have done nothing wrong. And that the Tech administration may be using this alleged incident as an excuse to fire him. They weren't happy with the way Leach openly flirted with other job opportunities in the past. If that's the case I think they may come to regret it. Leach took that program to a level of success that will be hard to replace, imo. I can't believe that Tech fans can be very excited about hiring a guy like Tuberville.
  16. A big bowl of menudo and a 45 minute light cardio workout will make you feel almost as good as new. When I say light,I mean very light, like a quick paced walk.
  17. I loved Smiths game in college. I think he would have a chance in the NFL,but would be best in a west coast (or similar) system, imo. He has a decent arm and can move around really well, but he's not a stereotypical NFL,drop back passer. I think he'd be worth a look, but a 3rd is too high a price.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH42Oys2J5U Check this guy out.
  19. I think this is a great hire for UB. He knows the conference and should do well recruiting. He's had a hand in Kellys success and should be able to put together a potent offense. I was surprised when I read this. Like almost everybody,I figured Quinn would follow Kelly to ND.
  20. Wow,that seems like a really good hire. Wasn't he thought to be following Kelly to ND? I believe he's been with Kelly for a number of years and many think has had alot to do with Kellys success. Way to go UB!
  21. Jones should be a good fit. He followed Kelly at CMU and had success with the players from Kellys system. I see no reason he wouldn't be able to follow that same plan at UC. The timing of these coaching hires does suck for the kids. They commit to play for a coach, and a year or 2 later these coaches move on. The NCAA needs to look at the timing of these moves and put in some no-tampering rules or something. I can't blame the coaches for moving on to better opportunitys, they're kind of stuck in a bad position. The NCAA needs to look at the whole situation and come up with a set of regulations concerning the timing of this stuff. Maybe no contact till after the bowls or something. Try to make a period of time (maybe summer?) when these moves could be made with the minimum amount of damage.
  22. I didn't like the expansion idea at first, but the more I thought about it I think Missouri would be a pretty good fit. There's even talk of them going to 14 teams.Don't know how serious it is,but it's being discussed. I Would hate to see Michigan and OSU be put in different divisions, but if they're not, only one could ever make it to the conference championship game. Not sure how that would work out. Maybe you SEC guys could educate me abit on this. Are your main rivals always in the same division with you? If not,do you only play them every other year?
  23. Nova looked strong. I saw them in the semifinal game against William and Mary too. That kid Szczur is a badass! I dig watching these lower division teams. For almost all of these kids it's the end of their football careers and they play their hearts out. We have a pretty good 1AA program in my area,UC Davis, and I try to make a game or2 every year. They have a small capacity (10,000) stadium, but it's brand new and beautiful and they fill it up. They have a marching band and everything.Good spirited atmosphere. Just like the big boys but on a smaller scale.
